I contracted Susan's services for my wedding. Her portfolio displays a variety of quality work and her price was reasonable. After the trial, I was extremely happy and looked forward to the "real" day. I emailed her a few very minimal tweaks that I wanted, but it was the look I wanted and absolutely loved- the eye make up was perfect. Susan is very nice. She was attentive to what I was looking for and to my needs. Her communication was good. On the day of, her usual hair assistant could not make it. Crystal did the hair instead. I did not have a positive experience with Crystal, but I did have a positive experience with Susan. Everything went off to a good start until it started getting closer to the time they thought they were going to leave at. The mood changed in the room. My hair and makeup did not match the trial. Crystal seemed offended that I did not like how my hair turned out. Susan stayed longer to fix it, and I was/am happy with how it turned out, but going over the photos, you can see the part under the clip ended up being very different. None of Crystal's actions were Susan's fault (Susan ended up telling her to go). I don't think Crystal should be a back up. The make-up on my bridal party (the moms and four bridesmaids) was flawless! Susan is five stars, I would hire her all over again. read more

Susan was absolutely amazing! The environment is comfortable, Susan was super nice and accommodating and very skilled. I was going to an themed event and planning to wear a kimono. I've searched for some reference pictures to do a more low-key kind of Geisha style makeup to match my kimono. Susan and I discussed the makeup, and the result was really good. It came out slightly more dramatic than I imagined in bright daylight (when I did the makeup), but worked out super well in the event. All my pictures came out really nice even with low light! She has a really gentle touch and is extremely meticulous (color correcting, making sure the many individual false lashes were perfectly aligned, actively listening to my suggestions as she worked, etc). I explained to her that my hair doesn't stay curled easily, so she curled very small sections of hair and then bobby pinned them up so I could take them out just before prom began. Susan is amazing to work with!!! I planned my wedding in La Jolla remotely from NYC. I first reached out to Susan and planned a H&M trial 6 months before the wedding when I flew out there. The trial was a great experience, she really got the look I was going for based off pictures and she took feedback extremely well to achieve the right look! In between the trial and the wedding I even emailed her a couple of times and she was extremely responsive. Fast forward to the wedding day, she was incredible! She did a fantastic job with the makeup and hair, it was an extremely hot and humid day, and it all held fantastically! She even pieced together individual flowers and greenery from my florist to create a hair piece for me. My hair and makeup was done at 10:30AM and after HOURS outdoors for all of the photos, the ceremony, etc in 88 degree weather (i was incredibly sweaty) it HELD! I even cried starting from the morning throughout the ENTIRE day, and at 3AM when i got back to the hotel my face and make up was still in tact. NO RUNS!
