I was hoping for a positive experience at Salon MK with Giselle Q, but I left very disappointed. The photos clearly speak for themselves but here's what happened-- When I first reached out to Salon MK in June, I was connected with Giselle and specifically requested a light brown, neutral balayage. We booked a balayage ($280) and a haircut ($85). I sent photos of my hair and several reference photos. During the appointment, she explained that balayage is essentially highlights, which made me a bit nervous, as I understand it to be more of a blended, ombré-style look. Still, I trusted her professional judgment. Unfortunately, the final result looked nothing like my reference photos..... The highlights leaned much more yellow and brown rather than the neutral tones I had requested, and they were also uneven, with some highlight sections noticeably thicker than others. The haircut itself was uneven, and the top layers were longer than the bottom section. She offered to fix it, which I appreciated, but by that point I already felt uneasy. I decided to give her a second chance since she was willing to fix the uneven haircut, so I went back in October for an all-over color before an important work event. I was very clear and specific about what I wanted and provided several reference photos beforehand- a dark, natural brown with subtle purple/reddish undertones. I explicitly asked to avoid black, copper, blonde, vivid red or purple tones, and NO highlights. We discussed this thoroughly, and I even said that if there was any hesitation, I'd prefer to play it safe with a darker brown balayage instead. Giselle reassured me she could achieve the color....... Unfortunately, the result was again nothing close to what I requested. My hair turned out coppery brown/red and still showed highlights, which I had specifically asked to avoid. I felt embarrassed going to my event with it. When I reached out the next day with photos, I was told that the custom conditioner I purchased should temporarily fix the issue. This was frustrating, as a conditioner with very minimal pigmentation shouldn't be relied on to correct a $165 color service, especially after I left a 20+% tip out of kindness. Overall, the results did not align at all with what we discussed or the reference photos I provided. My concerns weren't resolved, and I ultimately had to attempt to fix my hair myself before the event. Everyone's experience is different, but I wanted to share mine so others can make the decision that feels right for them and choose a stylist they feel 1000% confident with. read more

Over the past week, I've sent a DM on Instagram, called the salon and requested a callback twice, and even texted -- all with zero response. Highly highly disappointed with this place. Or maybe I should say with Jenna specifically. I made an appointment with her at least 2 weeks in advance. I call to get directions the day prior since this was my first time going to this salon. Jenna then try's to reschedule me and have me go to another salon in Encinitas. I live in Temecula so that's not feasible. She then confirms appointment just to change her mind several hours later. She tells me it's not worth her drive to Main Street salon if clients cancel because she rents a booth. Mind you I never canceled and I even confirmed my appointment in advance. She must have known how unprofessional this was and offered to give me a free hair cut. I declined as I was already highly disappointed and offended by Jenna. kiara is a nasty piece of work, ive always been told to not wash my hair a few days before any colouring (especially bleaching) so the oils protect my scalp. Now I have a naturally oily scalp(it looks oily by the end of the day after washing it - I can't help it it's genetics) this unprofessional little girl told me I have a smelly scalp and shouldn't be so unhygienic before coming into her salon and she shouldn't have to deal with dirty greasy scalps coming in her place of work. She cocked her nose up at me the whole time while she was doing my hair and made me feel so uncomfortable. Courtney has been doing my hair for the past three years, and with how much I bounce around in colors she's definitely done an excellent job in making sure we do the best for ME. She's also fantastically patient at communicating my color options since I never know what I want to do or what I can do with the dye that is currently in my hair at the time. I live in San Diego and am a full time student, so I rarely am able to make the trip back home, so my hair appointments are customized specifically to me and my bad habit of going in basically once every three months. My best friend (a gorgeous thick maned blonde) who lives in LA now drives out to her every 8 weeks because Courtney is a hair Goddess. She does makeup too! (as most of them do but Courtney's really good at that) She just moved back to Main Street Salon after being at Sleek and Shear in Murrieta for a while, so don't do what I did last time and accidentally go to Murrieta. She's in Old Town Temecula! Even though I was literally 30 minutes late she still took me in and when her next appointment came in she juggled finishing my hair and taking care of her new clients like a pro. My bad Courtney, but you rocked it as always. If Courtney's booked I'd recommend Mariah. She is also a talented hair goddess plus Courtney and her suffered through cosmetology school together. I followed Lily to Main Street since she made her move earlier this year. Yeah, it's a little far but I'll make the drive for her excellent work. My current hairstylist is Kayla B, and she's great! She's super easy to talk to, and she fully talks to you about what you want to do to your hair. Main Street salon is such a cute place. All the furniture inside is so adorable. Everyone inside seems to be so friendly too. They have refreshments of water, coffee, tea, and even wine! Occasionally they have cookies but if not there is a little cafe downstairs. I've been getting my hair done by Kayla recently and she is seriously the best! The location is a little far and quite a drive for me, but I make the drive because I know she'll do an amazing job. I cannot say enough good things about Mariah. Although I'm from Phoenix, I visit the Temecula area every couple months; to visit my family and to stop by Main Street Salon for my hair! Initially, I found Mariah through Instagram. I wanted extensions and a complete color makeover. Mariah steered me towards individual beaded extensions I'm thoroughly impressed! Hands down best Salon in Temecula! I always feel like home when I come in to get my hair done by Michael Lisa. The salon is so so cute and has the best variety of products. Eudora (men's and women's), and Davines. Easy to find and parking located in the back which helps with the busy streets of old town.
