I really loved my stylist today! I am in at 630 in the evening for my highlights. I needed a good blend from my natural hair to my extensions. I leave out of town the next day so I had to do it today! I was lucky to get in today! Salina my colorist/stylist is fantastic! She really worked on my hair with care and precision. She was non abrasive to my hair and she was the closest anyone had ever got to matching my extensions color! She explained how everything works and the process. Salina is very informative! She is also a kind and has an easy going personality. Being there for hours didnt feel long bc the conversation was interesting and neat. You can tell Salina has years of experience in this line of work and that she enjoys her job! Its a very easy going atmosphere. Its very chill and relaxing. Its a cute salon and its mostly by appointment. Walk ins are welcomed too but it will be busy. The pricing for my highlights was very fair. I really appreciate Salina helping me out with that. Well there's bad and good. So three stars??? The bad: I made an appointment with Sheila to have my hair fixed for my step daughter's destination wedding in Fallbrook. I was on a schedule. She no-showed me. I sat for 20 minutes past my appointment time until someone asked what time I was suppose to have an appointment and then asked to see my messages with Sheila of making my appointment. She then called Sheila, who appeared to be completely oblivious on the other end of the line. I was saying it's okay, nevermind, I'll just go and handle it myself when another stylist stepped up and said I'm open right now and I'll do it for you if you'd like. So there's the good! Of course, now I can't remember her name! Argh! So I did end up getting my hair fixed for the wedding and it was comfortable and looked pretty nice. That was great! Quality of service that was requested was subpar. The stylist seemed rushed. Especially once her other appointments started to arrive. I personally felt a toxic vibe in the parlor as well. My daughter requested two braids. Pretty simple request but the stylist seemed to struggle with something so basic. The stylist was very aggressive with my daughter's hair and she even requested for her to be more gentle but she still maintained aggressiveness. Prior to requesting the services, we sent a picture of the braid and a picture of her hair and the stylist stated she could execute the task. She was very sweet, Unfortunately, I feel like I was extremely overcharged for the service I received. I have been a platinum blonde for years and was not able to get in with my regular stylist so I requested an appointment on yelp so I could have my hair done for Halloween. I was put under the dryer with bleach on my scalp. (I don't normally get placed under the dryer) After a few minutes it was burning really bad. I let her know and she said that was normal. I am so sad I haven't reviewed Beautymark yet! I absolutely adore this place, and Amanda has seriously been my color go to gal. Finding the right stylist is like matching with the right partner. You both have to be on the same page. I always appreciate someone who is straightforward, honest with what they can do, insightful and wizardly, and someone who I can trust. The other hard part about my hair is that...well, there is A LOT. Not only do I have fairly longer hair, but I have that thick japanese hair (thank you momma!) which is a blessing and a curse. The first couple times I went to Amanda, we did an ashy balayage. It came out beautiful. Then after a bit I had the idea of bringing it up with baby lights - and well, here we are with this perfect combo of hair with, one of the best colors I've had since the days I went to my korean stylist in Cerritos. Amanda is not only talented, but she listens - takes in what you want, makes recommendations and then mixes something up that only dreams are made of. And holy heck, the amount of hair I have is a job within a job - it tends to take a solid 3 hours of work with only about 20-30 min of down time.
