I booked an appointment based on the high reviews. I asked for my daughter's hair to be cut straight across and to take off the damaged ends. It was about 3" in total that was needing to be cut. The stylist gathered my daughter's hair into a ponytail with her hands and snipped the edges off dry. Not a huge issue but it did surprise me because in a ponytail, that won't cut them evenly. But no biggie. So she took my daughter back and washed her hair, she was nice enough to my daughter and I. No issues there. When she was done cutting her hair she asked what my daughter wanted for a style. My daughter wanted pigtails. So she parted the hair down the middle. Except the front piece of the part was about an inch off, again, no big deal. My mistake was in not asking to see the cut before it was put up into pigtails. Because what I got when I took down her hair the next day was not a straight cut/trim across. It was super choppy!! I ended up trimming a small piece to try to blend it with the rest (the small piece I trimmed was a good INCH longer than the rest of the hair in what the photos show!) before taking the photos. I ended up calling the next day to cancel my own hair appointment as I was NEVER going to go back after what was done to my daughter's hair. Got my hair cut elsewhere and told the lady at the other salon what happened. She graciously offered to cut my daughter's hair for free. So I brought my daughter to get it fixed. She showed me how the side on my daughter's right side was so much higher than the rest so she had to cut off around 3" more after the hair cut l had gotten here. What was supposed to be a trim turned into 6" of hair having to be taken. My daughter is supposed to be in a wedding in 2 weeks. Hence why I needed her hair to look good. I was really upset and to be honest, embarrassed that my daughter's hair looked so uneven after coming here. I do not feel that asking for a 3" trim straight across should have turned out this awful. And believe me, it was worse in person because for the phots I only ran my hands through her hair to get it captured. If I had a brush and a comb you would see how awful and choppy it was. I have no idea how this could even happen. But I will not be going back. read more

Honestly, I'm really bummed about my most recent experience. I got hair extensions and I just expected much better quality. They started coming out after only 3 days. Not too much of an issue as she did offer to fix them. The issue was When I removed them, I noticed the wefts had what's called a "mustache" or return hair. This is when the hair is folded back underneath the weft and sewn in, leaving shorter hairs that can catch onto the surrounding hair. That can lead to tangling, matting, and a lot of frustration when trying to maintain the extensions. There's better options out there where they lay flat on the head . I don't know , For what I paid, I expected much better-quality hair and construction. read more

I leave out of town the next day so I had to do it today! I was lucky to get in today! Salina my colorist/stylist is fantastic! She really worked on my hair with care and precision. She was non abrasive to my hair and she was the closest anyone had ever got to matching my extensions color! She explained how everything works and the process. Salina is very informative! She no-showed me. My daughter requested two braids. Pretty simple request but the stylist seemed to struggle with something so basic. The stylist was very aggressive with my daughter's hair and she even requested for her to be more gentle but she still maintained aggressiveness. Prior to requesting the services, we sent a picture of the braid and a picture of her hair and the stylist stated she could execute the task. I have been a platinum blonde for years and was not able to get in with my regular stylist so I requested an appointment on yelp so I could have my hair done for Halloween. I was put under the dryer with bleach on my scalp. (I don't normally get placed under the dryer) After a few minutes it was burning really bad. I let her know and she said that was normal. I am so sad I haven't reviewed Beautymark yet! I absolutely adore this place, and Amanda has seriously been my color go to gal. Finding the right stylist is like matching with the right partner. You both have to be on the same page. I always appreciate someone who is straightforward, honest with what they can do, insightful and wizardly, and someone who I can trust. The other hard part about my hair is that...well, there is A LOT. Not only do I have fairly longer hair, but I have that thick japanese hair (thank you momma!) which is a blessing and a curse. The first couple times I went to Amanda, we did an ashy balayage. It came out beautiful. Then after a bit I had the idea of bringing it up with baby lights - and well, here we are with this perfect combo of hair with, one of the best colors I've had since the days I went to my korean stylist in Cerritos. Amanda is not only talented, but she listens - takes in what you want, makes recommendations and then mixes something up that only dreams are made of. And holy heck, the amount of hair I have is a job within a job - it tends to take a solid 3 hours of work with only about 20-30 min of down time.
