On sight. I've had…read moremy hair styled by Rosie for about three years. I followed her to this studio in Woodland from Davis; the drive is worth it. From long curls, to a short bob, Rosie knows how to cut and style hair. I've always been super happy with the transformation. Further, I also have my hair colored. I've gone darker in the winter, lighter in the summer from dark brown to reddish lighter hues. I've even done higlights ranging from red to blonde. Rosie is excellent at adding color to hair (and covering up greys!). Overall, this young stylist has impressed me with her capacity to change my look. She is very capable of' seeing the end point' and always delivers a creative and new style. I highly recommend Rosie, and other experienced stylists at this salon. They are great with color, highlights, cuts and trims- whether you're looking for maintaining your look or in need of a a brand new style, they deliver. I would come here for a special occasion as well- such as for prom, wedding, special event. Very professional and perfectly priced. Rosie always takes her time, and I can tell she keeps me there until it looks perfect. I've always been satisfied with each and every cut and color. And after three years, that's a lot of events!

I decided pretty last-minute to have my hair and makeup done for my 40th birthday party. I don't…read morewear make up in general, looking through some of the options, I came across Veronica's site as being recommended for people who wants a more natural look. So glad I gave her a call. She made the process extremely easy. You can come to her studio, or she can come to your house For the same price. She is extremely prepared and professional. Also has many vendor recommendations if you were throwing a party and needs additional referrals. She made me feel so comfortable, it was like having a very good friend do my hair and makeup. I loved the way I looked and received so many compliments! A few people asked for Veronica's contact. You won't regret it, definitely give her a call!

I had two 2019 photo sessions with David Suh Photography in Sacramento (one portrait, one…read moreprofessional headshot) and although I did my own hair and makeup for those shoots, I knew that typically for his client's services, professional makeup and hair are done by master artist Veronica Marshall (@veronica.marshall.dvbeauty) -- and the results of those are stunning. My friend Rachelle O. had done a full session at DSP and also highly recommended her. Spring/Summer 2021 is the time for fresh new photos! I had a photoshoot lined up with Mariah Ann Photography and Veronica was immediately the first one I thought of to take care of my hair and makeup. It was simple to book with her via this Yelp business page, do a phone consult and retainer payment via Venmo (remainder paid when services rendered). Unfortunately, the late May shoot had to be rescheduled last minute [photographer] and Veronica gracefully was able to accommodate the new early June date and time, appointment was in the afternoon the day of my shoot. She's located inside Salon SL8, entrance to the left of SL8 Fitness and Nutrition in Woodland. (https://sl8fitness.com/the-salon-at-sl8/). Veronica was very responsive with any communication (Yelp, IG, phone/text), which I appreciate. My portraits shoot was going to be outdoors (Old Sacramento) in the late afternoon/early evening so the hair and makeup had to be ready to withstand any wind/breeze and heat/sun. I showed her a photo of the floral cold-shoulder maxi dress I was planning on wearing to get an idea of the color scheme (to match makeup palettes) and what hairstyle would work best. First was the hair -- we went for beachy waves rather than full curls, and pinned twists in the back, sort of half-up instead of a total updo, no braids this time. Set with hairspray after letting that settle a bit, I loved the soft, romantic, flowy look she achieved! I let down the pins but next-day the soft waves still look great. Next stage was the makeup, also such an amazing job! Smoky eye, winged liner, bottom waterline liner, thicker eyebrows, false eyelashes, concealer, foundation, contouring, blush, a berry/pink matte lipcolor with some moisturizing color on top, and a rose-scented setting spray to lock it all in! It was such a "wow" transformation/makeover, dramatic but all for better effect in photos. We even stepped outside to make sure it was all looking great (color matching, etc.). I love how it all turned out, and can't wait for the photoshoot images to come back for the final look. Veronica was so sweet, I'm so happy I decided to work with her for this occasion. At the end of the shoot, I had dinner at The Firehouse in their courtyard because when you look hella cute, make the mostest of it! Huge thanks, Veronica!

So, my step-sons mom took him to get a haircut here today because I was un able to cut it for him…read moreover the weekend. The woman who cut our sons hair was unbelievably rude. She was a mature, Caucasian woman, grayish white hair, average height, a little heavy set...I believe they call her Mrs. Rene. This woman was upset because my step sons mother didn't know what Clipper number the barber uses when getting his fade at their usual shop...this made the woman angry. Mrs. Rene started to dig the clippers into his scalp so aggressively that one of the other stylists suggested switching clients with her because she seemed un-easy about doing his fade. "Mrs. Rene" told her co worker she would finish the cut but that it was my step son and his moms fault that she wouldn't be able to do it right because they were unsure of how to describe what length cut they were looking for?! First off, as a barber.....or hairstylist... you should always treat your clients with the upmost respect. Second, You take the time to communicate with your client by asking them the RIGHT questions. There are lots of other ways to communicate length to a client that have nothing to do with clipper numbers...and professional terminology. It is NOT the clients responsibility to know barbershop and salon terminology. That's your job. Some examples of good communication with the client are..... "do you want to be able to grab or pinch the length of your hair" "what is your daily routine when styling your hair" "are you able to see your scalp through your hair after your usual haircut?" Or just simply start with your longest blade on one side of the head and work your way down in numbers (in the same spot) progressively getting shorter In length until your client sees the desired length of hair and then go from there. Do not ever!!! And I repeat EVER become physically aggressive with your client especially when that client is only 13 years old and you are working with scissors, blades, etc. Finally, after she finished....the cut was an absolute disgrace....and she had the nerve bad about my step sons mom right while he was the only one who could hear her?! After producing what has to be one of the worst fades I have ever seen? Unacceptable!!!! I am outraged and I hope this woman is reprimanded for her poor and unprofessional behavior behind the chair. Oh....and here are some pictures of her terrible work. Do not go here and get your hair done by this woman. She is a bad hairstylist and a terrible person. Shame on her! And shame on this salon for hiring someone as unprofessional, aggressive, and talentless as this woman.

Went there for a simple hair cut. Told the lady a few times that I did not want my hair to short…read more Not only did she not listen, she butchered my hair. Now to fix it I have to cut it even shorter. Oh and the whole time I sat in the chair she made comments on how bad my hair was.

Question: What is Brenda good at?…read more A. Haircuts B. Color/Highlights C. Perms D. All of the above The answer is D, All of the above! I've been seeing Brenda since 1990 and I think her prices have gone up about 2% over the years. You can get your hair cut, colored and highlighted and still have money leftover to go out for dinner. That's how reasonable her prices are. But that's not why I kept going to her even after moving away from Davis in 1995. Brenda is a really good stylist--she's not outdated (although located in Woodland). She knows what looks good and will give you her honest opinion if you have any questions or doubts about a style. She is very methodical, neat, and takes her time. She doesn't do the funkiest, edgiest cuts, but you won't go out with a lopsided 'do unless it's intentional. She's really good with curly hair, Asian hair and updos, too. Back in the day, she gave me spiral perms on my looong hair. We progressed to long layers and highlights by 1996 and then to present day razor cuts. I would go see her more often if I could go on a weekday and if the traffic wasn't so bad between Concord and Davis--she's pretty booked on Saturdays. Call her at (530) 668-6479--she will make you and your hair happy.

I made an appointment with Tamara the day of. The place was a little hard to find, but if you see…read morethe big brick building, just turn into that area and you should be able to find it. Tamara was a friendly woman who gave me advice on getting the look I wanted. I had had short hair prior to letting it grow out, and I wanted a similar (not the same) style. As she cut, she made sure to tell me what she was doing, and checked with me before she made any changes. She was also very willing to answer my (numerous) questions about my hair, since it was a little more different than I expected. Although she had trouble recalling the name of some hair products I was asking about, she was plenty competent with her scissors and razor. It was $28 for my haircut. **They ONLY take cash or check.** EDIT: Now that I've had more time to check out my hair, I realize that the back looks WAY different from the front. The front is wispy and thin, with slightly uneven edges (which is what I wanted), whereas the back is thick and even. The sudden shift looks totally weird, and there's a gap in my hair on both sides (10/3: that has taken two additional haircuts to fix). Don't think I'll come back here.
