Hard NO for me…read more Walked in on a Sunday, several stylists were talking, only one paying customer sitting under the dryer and I still had to wait. Strike 1 When they got good and ready, they had me come back to get my hair washed. The older lady who shampooed my hair put something in my hair that I did not bring. I could tell by the smell. When I asked what she put in my hair, all the stylist tried to act like they did not know what I was talking about or did not understand what I was saying. After asking the question at least 5 times and raising my voice, they finally admitted to adding their conditioner by mistake. They reassured me it has no chemicals in it (IMO the conditioner had a weird chemical smell). At this point I should leave, but I have meetings the next day and at least need my hair washed and set. After combing conditioner (that I brought) in my hair, they let me know it's $10 to sit under the dryer. Total = $55 for a wash and set, NO blow out or flat iron. These Dominican Salons on the south side are the worst. This is why I hike to the North side to get my hair done. This service would cost $30 - $40 in Norcross and the service and experience would be much better. I appreciate the fact that they are open on Sunday, my kiddo has sports outside on Saturdays and getting my hair done on Sunday is ideal, but I will keep looking for a place that does better than this. Shameful.

I showed who I'm guessing was the daughter of the owner a photo of what I wanted, she said they could get me in no problem and they could do that color no problem. Awesome! She even asked for my number and told me to come back at noon, as they were finishing up someone's hair and told me she would call if they needed more time or if they couldn't get the color I asked for. PERFECT! Noon comes, I'm back! They had me waiting 2.5 hours until they got me in the chair. I thought you said you would call me if you needed more time? Annoying. But I tried to not let it bother me because I understand that I am a walk in and I did not have an appointment. I FINALLY get in the chair. The owner/the woman about to braid my hair, grabs her keys and LEAVES. Huh?? I asked the daughter where she went and she said she was buying the hair. I thought you guys already got the hair?? That is why you took my number down? And would call me if you could not get the hair? 10-20 minutes go by and the owner calls her daughter and says The beauty supply store doesn't have enough hair, so she is wondering if I would be OK with just a couple strands of green highlights. I said no, because that is not what I'm paying for. If I am going to pay almost $200 to get my hair done, I want it done the way I want it done. I don't think that is unreasonable? So the owner goes to another beauty supply store to get more hair, I'm still waiting. At this point I tell the daughter that I have been waiting for so long that I will just come back later with an appointment or come back tomorrow morning because I need to get going. The daughter calls back her mom, and the mom says that she is pulling back into the shop right now. Okay cool, we are about to get started. Nope! 20 more minutes go by. She finally comes back with NEON GREEN HAIR I very politely told her that that is not the color that I asked for. I even specifically told them several times I do not want brightly colored hair, I want dark green. She then slams the hair on the table and says "well they don't have it!!!" Then the daughter explains to me that I probably should have ordered that colored hair or brought the hair myself. Okay fine, BUT WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT! I thought the whole reason of you taking down my phone number was to let me know if you were not able to get the dark green hair I requested. I very politely told the owner that I did not want that hair and I thanked her for going out to get extra hair for me, I even offered and I did end up paying for the hair that she bought. I told her I was very appreciative of her trying so hard but this was not going to workout today. I had already been there for over 3 hours. The owner then starts to get into my face and yell at me about how this wasn't fair, we can braid your hair with what we have (the gross neon color), I told her thank you for trying but no, this is not what I wanted, and she just lost it. She was yelling, screaming, telling me that I was rude and she couldn't believe this, basically blaming me for ruining her day...it was SO dramatic. I told her again I could pay for the hair and I DID pay for the hair, but she just kept yelling and getting more and more upset, to the point where I got upset and I just had to remove myself from the situation and go home. In their defense, another woman who worked there was very polite and try to apologize and understand where they were seriously lacking in customer service. The daughter also was trying to be understanding and trying to calm down the owner. I appreciate these other two women in the store who tried to deescalate the situation and understand where I was coming from. But that owner? Oh no. You can't fix crazy ‍‍

I was told it was a great line of Brazilian hair but my hair stylist said it looked like dog hair. The hair matted up, shed, and tangled within 2 days!!!!!! I complained to the manager immediately who then told me that it was nothing she could do because she had to make money. I had to remove the hair after having it in only 2 days!! I lost over $350 which included the hair purchase and the install. Spend your dollars elsewhere. Don't say you haven't been warned!!

I had a film shoot the next day and needed my locs retwisted. I called in and the owner answered, asked if the loctitian could squeeze me in. She was finishing her last client and decided to take me. I judge stylists based on their shampoo first (everyone needs to know how to do a thorough, quick, mess-free shampoo) and it was wonderful. She retwisted my hair quickly, and styled my hair in a way that complimented my head shape. In addition to that, my retwist lasted for a WHOLE. MONTH. it was amazing! Anytime in Atlanta, girl I'm coming back.

I appreciated her because after so many bad experiences at African Hair Braiding salons, my anxiety was on 10. I know there's a supposed boycott on braiding shops and went because the tracks were literally unraveling from the previous stylist. They were so different here. I just felt peace here in this salon. They had gospel music playing and it was just an awesome experience and it made me my ignorance of lumping all African shops after my previous experiences. The song "It wasn't easy" by CeCe Winans came on and it was my first time hearing it. It's on repeat now. But I would recommend Bella's shop and also return.

They were always very small, uncomfortable and I always managed to get stuck in a room with one or more women who are intent on having very loud, what-should-have-been-private conversations on their cell phones during my entire visit. Argh. As always, my stylist, Lori Bailey Cooper - did a fantastic job on my hair! She's one of those stylists that can do it all - cut, color & style. She knows her chemicals, doesn't over-process and doesn't take a one approach method on all patrons like some stylists will do. If your hair doesn't need a lot of heat to make it "do what it do," you'll see her applying less heat not simply leaving the setting on whatever she used on the last chick. Over the years - I've gone to her so many times to fix a bad haircut or simply get my hair back in shape when I've strayed. Lol. So enough about Lori - about the new space . . . . . . from the outside - it looks a little - sparse. It's located off Spring Rd, just past the intersection of Village Pkwy, you have to veer off to the right - but if you miss it - you can turn down Jonquil (next to that Dairy Queen) and backtrack to it. As I said, the exterior is a little industrial looking, but the interior is very upscale & trendy looking, hardwood (laminate) flooring, nice colors and private suites. There is a large common area in the back filled with comfy sofas and a small wet bar / kitchenette area where you can eat, relax or use wifi while you wait. ive been going here for YEARSSS they have points now where it gives you discounts. ive read some of…read morethese reviews and they are not true. there was never a chinese woman that worked there only asian men. plus you dont know what race they are just call them asian. yes they need time to prepare to open their stores. they are also a very busy store meaning they rarely have time to answer their phone. Also they have amazing customer service, they even gave me free things at some points especially now that i do hair (@defyyhair on instagram). they also hired more black people here &they never gave off a racist vibe. they have always been kind and even when i came 5 minutes after closing they still gave me a chance to get the things i needed. they are my #1 beauty supply & i will be applying here soon.
