I love this place! I went here for Kami Cosmetics Event & was blown away by the decor. Mimi & her team really put a lot of effort into making this establishment one that will leave an impact. The makeup displays were perfectly stationed. There is absolutely no clutter. Very well spaced. I also enjoyed the diversity in makeup lines. She carries Kami cosmetics of course, PNK Digger (another favorite of mine) and a host of others. OMG! I almost forgot to tell you about the infamous Glitter Wall! Towards the back of the shop there is a beautiful glitter wall where people often pose & take selfies. After seeing my girlfriend's makeup for her 34th birthday, I knew that I wanted to come and get my makeup done by Noir. So I had my assistant call to make an appointment, and pay the deposit of $50. 1 week before my appointment I was contacted by the admin and asked if I could have the owner Mimi do my makeup because Noir had a prior engagement that wasn't on the calendar. (1st issue). I politely obliged, even though I had never seen Mimi's work but I assumed that if people working under her did fabulous makeup, she would as well. So, here we are 4 hours before my event, and I get a call from the polite admin, saying that Mimi has to cancel my appointment and would like to know if Robin can do my makeup. Now here comes my frustration, I have an expectation that a professional business, especially business located in this demographics ( I know because I live in the buildings where the Glamatory is located) should be better at managing their calendars and there should be clear communication with stylists and salons so that double bookings do not happen. Also, as a first time patron, it makes me feel like my patronage is not valued or appreciated because I'm being tossed around like a tennis ball and was not offered any compensation or anything for the multiple inconvenience. I did ask to cancel and for refund, which I had to call back to find out if Mimi allowed that to happen (another gap in communication). I had no idea who the owner was but after reading her resume on yelp and seeing her accolades , I would expect much more professionalism and rookie mistakes like this not to occur. It's always my goal to support and uplift minority/female owned business, but it is extremely frustrating to deal with a business that has no regard for it's customer. I have a gala to attend to today, BUT I have to find another artist due to the Glamatory lack of concern and service. Yes, I could have accepted their offer to have Robin do my makeup, but given the Glamatory's track record, who's to say they wouldn't have cancelled on me 1 hour prior to my appointment. The Glamatory is my new obsession! So let me walk you through my experience today. After eating brunch at First Watch (the french toast and morning meditation drink is to die for!), I walked over to The Glamatory because I've been wanting to visit for a while and needed to find an everyday lippie for the spring/summer. As I walked into the store, I was blown away by the beautiful decor and calm energy. I'm big on energy! I was immediately greeted with a big smile by Kenya (she's so awesome!) and she got me started with testing out some lippies. We had a fun time! MiMi was slaying a makeup client and was so warm and welcoming as she greeted me. What she has built is so inspiring and is straight GIRL POWER! I fell in love with every lip shade I sampled and ended up purchasing the "Quaint" and "NuD" lip potion lippies. Wanted to snag the "Melanude" shade but they were sold out, so next time! Mimi is amazing! I used her for my wedding makeup. I have had bad experiences with makeup in the past and I don't wear makeup most days. My makeup was flawless. It was great coverage but very natural. I still looked like myself and I felt great for my wedding. She was on time and very professional. She even recommended a great hairstylist which I used as well. I 100% recommend Mimi for all of your makeup needs. She has a sweet spirit and is reliable and great at what she does.
