Convenient location, clean and modern. I love the look of my brows but my skin is torn and it burns. It was my first time getting waxed. She was quick but didn't ask anything about my skin. I also didn't get aftercare instructions. I got them waxed at 10am and this pic was taken at 8pm. My skin is sore and red. Some say it is normal and others tell me that the wax was too hot that's why my skin was ripped. Looked nice though before the pain and redness kicked in. Hope it doesn't get infected!! read more

She is kind, fun to chat with and is essentially a skin whisperer. I highly recommend! Deeper details: I'm a huge fan of me time, self care and getting my hair and nails done. I've recently discovered going beyond that, and loving on my face. Like many, until my late 20s I really didn't care, or have the money to treat myself well. I was far too busy spending money on things to ruin my body, as one does... Slowly, I became more aware of what I was putting in and on my body, and started seeking skin treatments as needed. Until having babies, I never really had anything too problematic. Unfortunately, my hormonal shifts didn't always leave me glowing. Sometimes it left me spotty and uneven and generally putting on drag-level make up before events. I'm super pale, too, so whenever I break out, the red dot results can last for months. Enter the beauty room and Amanda. I'm currently pregnant, so she consulted with me for a long while on what I could and couldn't do to speed up healing my leftover marks from my first trimester flare up. I did an enzyme peel, a deep exfoliation and a collagen eye treatment (that last one, just for funsies, and to stay ahead of the curve, ya know?). It's only been 24 hours and I'm still glowing, my skin already looks more even and it didn't cause any redness that lasted too long. More importantly, it didn't clog any pores. Hooray! read more

A mixup (at my end) when scheduling provided a particularly friendly introduction to Amanda and Beauty Room. Upon arrival for my appointment, I was welcomed into a calm and positive clean environment. Everyone was pleasant, professional, friendly, but also appropriately relaxed, which made it a remarkably comfortable space. It felt very well organized in all respects -- as a business and the environment itself. The environment was clean, decor and music pleasant, and I was reassured by specific attention to Covid-19 protocols and equipment. Darby provided my services. She was professional but friendly, remarkably attentive to detail, and clearly interested in providing exceptional work. She made sure she knew what I wanted and followed up with me on this and other information when the service had been fulfilled. No one tried to upsell me on anything or suggest other services or products. This I not only appreciated but, supported by what I've mentioned above, led me to later review what other services I may wish to book in future. I am looking forward to returning soon. I've gone to the Beauty Room for threading and waxing and they've been great. The downside is that they share a space with the highly unprofessional L Studio staff. As a customer it is not necessarily clear that the two businesses are separate and the lack of order can be frustrating. On my last visit, there was a problem with my scheduling and the owner of L Studio lead me to believe that she was in charge of Beauty Room services, so I expected her to address the problem. Instead, she was so rude and incompetent that I left the studio altogether. read more

Amanda and her team are thorough, professional and caring. Just be really careful if you have sensitive skins. I visited the studio for a lash lift yesterday and everything went smoothly. However, the morning I woke up I found that there's serious redness and a lot of pimples in my under eye area, which is quite annoying. It's itchy and there's nothing I can do right now. I asked Amanda before starting the lift, and she said that even tho I have sensitive skins I should be fine. It turns out that I am allergic to either the solution or the pads that were used to cover my bottom lashes. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has extremely sensitive skins. read more

Sushma is a nail god. I'll come with a crazy design idea and she'll execute it to perfection. I always get compliments and questions of what salon I go to when I've had my nails done by her!! And my nails are always in perfect condition when I get my shellac removed..strong and healthy. (They don't use a nail file on top of the nail which is important to me because many other places have ruined my nails that way.) The cuticle oil is extremely helpful. Amanda is a gem. She was the only person that I trusted for my brows and eyelashes for a loooong time (until she trained Rachel and Kathy who also do an amazing job). She will take in your colouring, face shape and create the perfect brow shape and colour to perfectly compliment you and make everyone envious of your perfect brows. I would still look like I didn't have eyebrows if it wasn't for her (fair skin, blonde brows.) I could go on and on about the services (and I've done a LOT- manicures, facials, waxing, tinting, lash lift, microblading etc) but as you can see it will become redundant because I would just continue to RAVE about it all. I had a lash lift with Amanda and I will definitely be back! The first time I got a lash life (at another salon in Toronto), I wasn't satisfied with the results. One eye was "curlier" than the other and it only lasted about 2 weeks. From the moment I lay down, I knew the experience would be different at Beauty Room. Amanda took the time to determine the right pad size, to separate my lashes, to protect my lower lashes....none of which was done during my first lash lift. Sushma always did a great job on my shellac manicures and she was a sweet person to talk to. I enjoyed my time there. My polish would usually last for a while (sometimes up to 3 weeks) except for a few occasions. I thought the colour selection was somewhat poor, or at least it didn't have colours I wanted. I had a lash lift with Rachel, and a manicure with Kara at the Beauty Room, and I had a fantastic experience with both! I have very short, straight lashes and Rachel took exceptional care to ensure that I got a natural curl, and separated each lash to ensure that they would not cross. The result is that my eyes look much more opened and that my lashes look great. I was a bit apprehensive about the procedure because my eyes are really sensitive and water quite a bit, but this process was a breeze. Will definitely return, and get a lash tint as well.
