Absolutely wonderful!!!! I can't say enough about every single person at this salon. My daughter (4 years old) and I were in Toronto for a girls day and thought it would be fun to get our nails and hair done. I found Zara on yelp. I picked for the great location, price and past reviews. I was expecting a good experience- but I was not expecting to be completely blown away. The nail technicians were prepared for our arrival and were quick, patient with my daughter and did an absolutely great manicure. Next 2 stylists did a wash/style for each of us. Sooo happy with the result. Whole thing was just over an hour. I can't express how impressed I was with the staff and owner- Zara. They were so kind to my daughter. Everyone that we came in contact with went our of their way to make her feel comfortable and special. Truly some of the nicest women ever. The prices are extremely reasonable. First off - the location is amazing! Under a 5 minute walk from the Queen and Yonge subway station. The salon itself is very clean and chic - nicely decorated. I got a deep conditioning treatment, wash, cut, and style. My hair was down to my butt (WAY too long) and I wasn't sure what to do or what style I wanted. The lovely hairdresser (I didn't catch her name, unfortunately) suggested a style, that involved cutting a foot of length off. I agreed. And, boy am I glad I took her advice! My hair looks AMAZING! It's beautifully layered and so bouncy and healthy! I keep getting compliments everywhere I go! I will most definitely be back! read more

The best thing about this establishment is that they are 2 blocks away from St. Michael's Hospital which is where I ended up after receiving a facial here. I suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns around right eye after scolding water shot from the steam machine (photo attached of the filthy water tank). The employees were not trained in handling such a situation and applied Vaseline to the burn area. I requested ice and rubbed my eye as the lady continued massaging the other side of my face and neck. As the pain intensified and the shock wore away I stopped the procedure, left the establishment and went directly to the hospital. As the doctor said I'm lucky to still have my vision but deeply disappointed in how the owner handled the situation during and afterwards. As this was pre-paid I should have never had to request a refund nor be aggressively requested to procure a lawyer if I wanted their insurance information. This is probably the worst place I have ever been in Toronto. I couldn't have been anymore disappointed with butchered job I got when I went in for some highlights. I specifically came in because I was recommended by one of my friends, assuming they know what they are doing. I made an appointed the day before to get some highlights done. I walked in, showed the hairdresser a picture of what I wanted and in return got something totally different. The highlights were choppy and streaky in all the wrong places. I ended looking like 90's rock fan freak !!! As I proceeded to explain to them that I absolutely hated it, the owner " zara" told me it was specifically what I asked for......... clearly they must have been blind for those 1.5 hours while doing my hair because it was certainly not what I asked for. Came here for a Brazilian and shellac manicure. Zara is very responsive. I emailed them the night before to book the appointments and they were able to book me in for the next day after work. I needed my previous shellac taken off. The technician that worked on me was quite rough and I felt like she could've waited a bit longer with the foil wrap because my nails were bending and almost broke when she was scraping them off my nails.. I asked for round shape and all my 10 fingers were in different shapes and lengths at the end of the session - I tried asking her to fix the shape but gave up after 3 tries. After filing and buffing she was told to pass me onto another technician, who went on to painting my nails. The second lady was more gentle and experienced. It ended with cuticle oil + lotion and hand massage, no hot towel. Overall manicure was average. I really liked their color options. After my pedicure the second technician did my Brazilian. Although it was painful because she didn't do it in small batches, she was very thorough. I would return for wax but would get my nails done somewhere else. read more

Walked into this salon without an appointment. Zara welcomed me and was very warm and nice. She told me she could squeeze me in for an eyebrow and upper lip wax and to have a seat. Shortly after I was brought into the room. I was extremely happy with the shape of my eyebrows - they looked amazing! Came here for a facial bought through Groupon. It was pretty bare bones and uncomfortable. She kept getting exfoliant in my mouth and eyes. The towel she used to wipe my face was perpetually cold and I don't think she actually wiped the stuff off my face fully before going onto the next thing. Will not be coming back. read more

I'm so happy to have found Zara! On top of amazing service she is so nice and great to talk to! Here is the breakdown: Location - amazing central location just a half a block from TTC on queen and two parking lots within a block. There is construction going on right now so it was a little hard for me to find, but I'm sure that will be done soon. Given her location in downtown, her prices are very reasonable! Salon - beautiful and clean! Very welcoming atmosphere! They have several stations in the from and the wax/threading room towards the back. Threading/waxing - I've avoided having my eyebrows down by others for many years because everyone does them too thin... not Zara! She got the perfect shape and since she knew I was nervous had me check what she was doing before she took off any more. Also, I was shocked that it really didn't hurt at all!! Usually when I get threading done I'm in pain and my eyes water like crazy. Not one tear came from my eyes! I didn't have my hair done there but I saw her finishing up with someone right before me and her hair was amazing! I love that she uses a flat iron to do waves. The location is downtown and super convenient (a few minutes walk from Queen metro station). Also, it was really easy to make an appointment, I just emailed them and they replied right away. This is the most traumatizing Brazilian I have ever gotten in my life. Up till 2 months ago I used to get them very regularly. This was the most painful experience I have ever had, this lady was inexperienced, had no technique and kept reapplying wax to sensitive spots, which literally made my skin raw. She missed so many patches and made an excuse about my hair being the issue (my regular lady had no problem getting those). She was very insensitive and rude making it seem like I was being overly dramatic. But the way my skin was burning and how red it was, there was no way I was exaggerating. 2 days later, my skin was scabbed and rough because a layer of skin was missing and and very painful to the touch. Theres no way this lady is licensed, and if she is that license needs to be REVOKED. I have dropped into salons regularly with no issues except for this one time! If you value your lady bits, you will pay a bit more and NOT go here read more

Worst Brazilian and eye brow threading experience. The lady was very nice but she ended up cutting me with the thread and then ripping my skin during the Brazilian. She was extreme rough and used huge wax straps as oppose to smaller ones, which would have helped with the roughness. She didn't hold down the skin or anything she just tugged the wax strip and let me tell you, I couldn't even sit the next day and my bf said I was bleeding for certain areas. Not to mention that after all of that unnecessary pain, she didn't even get all the hair. Never again. read more

I know people like to chirp the harsh lighting, but when it comes to hair removal, just remember that under this lighting, you can see EVERYTHING. Perfect for hair removal! Worst place ever!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE. If you get a Brazilian wax here you will never want another one for the rest of your life. The service was EXTREMELY rough and rushed. Literally the worst 20 minutes of my life was my appointment at Zara's.... it was pure torture. I have had Brazilian waxes before at other spas and usually the technician takes her time and makes sure you're doing okay, makes you feel very comfortable, and places a hot towel on the areas with pressure after she waxes them. Not here. I was expecting the full appointment, including the eyebrow threading, to take a little over an hour. Brazilian waxes alone are supposed to take at least 45 min - 1 hour. I had my Brazilian wax done in 15 minutes and I almost had to stop and leave halfway through... I honestly couldn't take it. She didn't take one pause, it was just rip rip rip. Getting a piercing or tattoo is way more tolerable than this waxing. I also had my eyebrows threaded during my appointment (another procedure that should take 15 minutes alone, and maybe 3-5 minutes was spent on it) and it was also extremely painful. I had tears streaming down both sides of my face. Also there was hair all over the floor when I stepped into the room and the tweezers weren't sanitized (which is something you really, really want when the tweezers are going all up in your cooch -- and who knows how many other people's.... yikes). I mean, yes, it is a fantastic deal and probably one of the cheapest in Toronto but you really get what you pay for. I honestly left the appointment with my body in shock feeling traumatized. I would rather pay more to not feel like I'm dying through the entire thing. Tl;dr : Extremely painful, unsanitary. Dish out an extra $25 and go to a proper place. read more

I get my eyebrows threaded here every 3 weeks, and they do a great job. Zara is very good. After she's done threading, she always plucks the tiny ones out too. This is my to go place for threading and waxing. The price is ok. Decent compared to that from other places in the same area. read more

I didn't not realize what a good job had been done on my bikini wax until I recently went to a new place and had the worse experience of my life. Zara's did an excellent job that was quick and painless Andre feel comfortable. 10/10 for the bikini wax. My problem was with the eyebrow threading. I was in so much pain and I ended up with a scab under my eyebrow from it. The experience has caused me to vow to never get my eyebrows threaded again. I never would of thought getting my eyebrows done would be more painful than the bikini wax. read more

I am so happy with Zara and her amazing salon. Zara has great availability for appointments and responds quickly by email or phone. She is accomodating and takes add ons easily. After each service she always asks if there is anything else you would like, regardless of how busy she is. She has the utmost respect for her clients and ensures that they leave happy and with everything that they want. I originally came in for her amazing prices and then she also had a groupon deal. I do threading and waxing. Today, I decided to try her nail services. I came here for a 1 hr massage on a Groupon voucher. I had Marzia and she was fabulous. I have been to many spas around Toronto and this was one of the best massages I have ever had. While I was there I also had a pedicure, complete with salt scrub and foot massage. It was an excellent value at $35. The only minor criticism is that there isn't much atmosphere in this little salon, since it looks out onto a busy street. However the friendly and professional staff make up for it. If I could give no stars I would. My friend and I were in town for the weekend and knew we'd want to have a spa treatment so booked with Zara in advance. We both booked massages, facials, and brow threading and we both had an awful experience. The facial was messy, with mud mask dripping in my ears and running down my neck, and both of our faces were raw after. My brow threading felt like rope burn on my face. I have marks under one brow where the skin was actually damaged and my friend still had to do some plucking when we got back to our room. And probably the worst and most unprofessional part was the fact that the "massage therapist" was texting during our massages. Both of them! She paused several times to check her phone and respond. There was nothing methodical or soothing about it. It seemed like they were making it all up as they went along. I would never recommend this spa to anyone. read more
