I had hoped for a facial and the Aveda Aqua Massage. When I checked in for my appointments, they asked for my Groupon for the Aveda Sensory Facial. The Groupon was scanned and nothing was said to me. Not until I was in my robe and in the treatment room. The aesthetician told me that I had used a Groupon in the past (which must've been years ago) and they either couldn't honor it or I could use it towards paying the full price of the facial. I forgot if I had used one years ago. The aesthetician talked to me about my massage. And it was just a salt scrub. I said no it was supposed to be the aqua Massage. And she said that wasn't what was booked. And I don't do those you'd have to see a regular masseuse for that. I just agreed to go along because I wanted to have a nice experience, but it wasn't looking too good. The salt scrub was OK but if it lasted a half hour I would be surprised. Between the "hour" facial and the body scrub I was in the room for maybe an hour and a half. The service was OK. Then I went into the steam shower area, which is always nice. I got dressed and I went to check out at the front desk I wanted a copy of the receipt because of the difference in cost with the facial and the massage. The woman said we only email them. I should've waited for my email before leaving. When I did receive the email I had started driving. So on my receipt, they did not give me the full $79 credit that I paid for my Groupon. They only gave me $63 in credit. Also, there's a $4 additional charge on the receipt. I called back that afternoon and had to leave a message because the recording said they were busy. No one returned my call. I called back the following day and was told that the additional $4 charge was to help offset the cost of the keeping the exceptional experience at the Asha Salon Spa??? I was told that they only applied $63 of my Groupon because they have to pay Groupon the $16 back. And that's how Groupon makes money. I have never heard of that before and I've used Groupon for years. They stood by their comments. I sent an email to Groupon who was supposed to get back to me within a week. I have not heard from them. At this point, I don't think I'll be using Groupon. If I do use Asha Salon spa in the future, I would make sure and double check I have the services I wanted, the prices and the length of the treatment clearly defined before I checked in for my appointment. It was clearly disappointing and not the experience that I've had in the past.

She was super nice open and made the entire time comfortable. The room was very private and the pain of the hard wax was barely anything compared to sugar waxing. First wax free for first time waxers, the Brazilian was offered at 50% off= $37.50. I would definitely come back. It was clearly less painful with hard wax, seemed quicker, so let's see the results ! (Remember sugar waxing is for sensitive skin cause it's usually only 3 ingredients you can make at home, but the hard wax didn't give me any reaction just normal sensitive redness.

Now with that out of the way, on with the review. I got turned on to this brand based upon a stocking stuffer I got at Christmas and I have been pretty much obsessed with it ever since. All of the products I have tried have been effective to the point of almost being dark Voodoo magic. Whoever the person is that concocts this stuff needs to be given a Nobel Prize immediately. It's truly mind boggling to the point that there is no way I would ever believe it if I did not experience it for myself. The store itself is located conveniently close to one of the entrances at Woodfield. Well, as convenient as anything at Woodfield could possibly be anyway. Just park in the parking lot adjacent to the comedy club and Lord and Taylor. It will be to your immediate left after you walk in that entrance. All of the ladies that work here are total sweethearts, and as you would expect, are quite knowledgeable about the product lines. They also have a good bedside manner for customers like myself. By that I mean they totally get that it is somewhat awkward for a single guy to stop in to discuss skin care. They make it easy. In my case I just told them what my prevailing issues were and let them pick the products for me. This turned out to be a home run. I could speak forever on the products themselves, but I'll keep it brief and just go with the most insane of the bunch in the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Stop what you are doing and go there to purchase some immediately. I'm dead serious. After you do you are going to kicking yourself that you did not do this sooner. This little blue bottle packs a hell of a punch. It is the skin care equivalent of rubbing on Aladdin's lamp. Don't believe me? I was so intrigued and disgusted at my scalp... there isn't a waiting room, per say, so I sat quietly on a stool and watched my friend get her scalp facial. Noelle walks you through the entire experience and I know my friend fell asleep! After her experience, Noelle sanitized everything and then it was my turn! Since she already gave us both the background and history, we jumped right on in. My biggest issue was that my experience was a little different than what my friend experienced. There was a lot more talking than I anticipated so I didn't get a chance to relax as well, and definitely not fall asleep! She did apologize but honestly that detracted from my experience and I wasn't overly thrilled by it. However, I still enjoyed the treatment. I'm not sure if a scalp facial is supposed to leave your hair feeling oily though? My scalp felt GREAT but my hair was completely greasy by the time it was dry and I wanted to wash it almost immediately... maybe that's what the experience is supposed to be? I'm not sure, but my scalp did feel cleansed and the waterfall experience was unique! LOCATION and AMBIANCE Place... close to my gym, difficult to find, since access is not directly by the parking lot, and pretty obviously one of the smallest spaces in the office park. Decorations and style of the interior, reminded me of a cross between a grandmother's house (furniture dating from 40 years ago, too many tchotkes) with some bad Frenchie style gilt mirrors and bad crystal. Not feelin' the vibe, in comparison to the usual medspa haunts... but the lure of reasonable lash extensions led me onward... I could deal, if this got me what I was looking for... SERVICE Okay, the lash tech, daughter of 'Marie' I gleaned from the conversation, was running late on the appointment... because the person ahead of me had gotten there 30 minutes late, cutting into my appointment time. NOT COOL, this is NOT how you gain my admiration or return... BUT it was the day of another Xmas Party, and I had scheduled this into my calendar, so I waited, finally got in, and had them done. Different brand of lashes, supposed to be better technical design, okay... after the 45+ minutes of application, the results were... thicker in diameter, and a lot of them seemed to be attached at a ratio of 1 extension to 1-2 or even 3 of my lashes. All one length across the whole lash, they should be varied in size (8-10-12mm) longer at the corners, shorter toward the center, ideally matched to the supporting lash so that it doesnt flip around - which happened, because the extension being longer than the lash, is not stable, and obviously not attached at the base. Okay - maybe I am getting boring with the details, summary, I went back in 2 weeks and complained that a lot of them had dropped, or clumped together and pulled out when I combed through them. Pretty much demanded repair or a refund... these are supposed to last the life of the lash... which can be anywhere from 30-90 days... not 10... Second repair, lasted 2 weeks again, not the life of the lashes... if it had, I would not have any lashes where the extensions were attached - strangely, I have tons of lashes where they were. HMM... Going back 2-3 times a month to get lashes done negates the 'savings'... right?

Admittedly, I'm not the best at speaking up when I'm feeling a little uncomfortable, but even when I did, it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I specifically said I didn't want anything with shimmer, yet every product she used had shimmer-even after she insisted that it didn't. The end result looked terrible lol.
