Ok, so I am a male and I am making a review of a skin care store. Sue me. I doubt they will yank my membership in my fantasy football league over it anytime soon. Now with that out of the way, on with the review. I got turned on to this brand based upon a stocking stuffer I got at Christmas and I have been pretty much obsessed with it ever since. All of the products I have tried have been effective to the point of almost being dark Voodoo magic. Whoever the person is that concocts this stuff needs to be given a Nobel Prize immediately. It's truly mind boggling to the point that there is no way I would ever believe it if I did not experience it for myself. The store itself is located conveniently close to one of the entrances at Woodfield. Well, as convenient as anything at Woodfield could possibly be anyway. Just park in the parking lot adjacent to the comedy club and Lord and Taylor. It will be to your immediate left after you walk in that entrance. All of the ladies that work here are total sweethearts, and as you would expect, are quite knowledgeable about the product lines. They also have a good bedside manner for customers like myself. By that I mean they totally get that it is somewhat awkward for a single guy to stop in to discuss skin care. They make it easy. In my case I just told them what my prevailing issues were and let them pick the products for me. This turned out to be a home run. I could speak forever on the products themselves, but I'll keep it brief and just go with the most insane of the bunch in the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Stop what you are doing and go there to purchase some immediately. I'm dead serious. After you do you are going to kicking yourself that you did not do this sooner. This little blue bottle packs a hell of a punch. It is the skin care equivalent of rubbing on Aladdin's lamp. Don't believe me? Google it and have a read and you will find reviews from thousands of people just like me who are bewildered by it's power. Quite literally the first day after using it my skin was so soft I stood there and rubbed it in front of the mirror for awhile. It also took up a radiant glow that has only intensified with time. People that I encounter day to day began to notice and my previous problems with breakouts disappeared never to return. The only drawback is price, as it's expensive, but worth every penny! The truly cool thing about Kiehl's? The aforementioned blue elixir of the gods is just the tip of the iceberg. You will be upping your grooming game at every turn when you experiment with their other products, and I suppose I would be amiss if I did not also mention the Facial Fuel moisturizer. This isn't a critique of Kiehl's product line...are their items effective, and/or worth the money. To date, I've tried a handful of their offerings (hair products can only do so much for my fine hair - I'm a realist). I do have a weakness for their lip balm, which I love. At one time, only Neiman Marcus carried Kiehl's, which was annoying. Other department stores (Bloomies, Nordstrom's...) then started selling it. But I far prefer a freestanding Kiehl's store, like this. Unlike a make-up counter, where you have to ask a clerk to see something, everything here is available to be picked up, examined, sniffed. Yes, I'm a sniffer. If I'm going to pay $18 for some bath gel, I'm gonna sniff it in making my decision. And the sales staff here let me root around undisturbed, only asking if they could be of help. And they didn't make me feel weird for buying a $7.50 jar of lip balm, probably the cheapest item in the store. FWIW, there are some beautiful-smelling things here. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

I went in to buy a full size of a sample I received. I knew what I was going in to get and found a super helpful lady who pointed me in the right direction. This was all I needed for the day, but she did ask me a couple more questions (not pushy at all, which was much appreciated) and gave me a bunch of samples! I felt like a made a haul with the samples, and look forward to trying them. This was my first time in the store and I was really impressed. The customer service was top notch and the associate that helped me was very kind and knowledgeable. It was a great first impression and I'll definitely be back for more. *Update* I had to go back for more! Kiehl's Hand Salve is simply the best hand lotion I've ever used. I had a sample and a little bit lasted all day, ever after multiple hand washes. The staff is super friendly and aim to help find what product is right for you. Keep up the great work! read more

Recently, I had a near-case of Chernobyl of my face -- an unfortunate reaction from an OTC chemical peel product. What resulted was a ruddy complexion that itches and bumps started surfacing. I was in ultra panic mode, trying all sort of topical remedies, and facials. I own Kiehl's lip balm and facial serum, which worked well, and had been given a few samples of their other products in the past. The results thankfully were without any side effects. So with my severely blemished face, I went in for some consultation. I was highly skeptical of what these "cosmetic" products can do. Afterall, I seemed to have tried EVERYTHING! The lovely Kiehl's consultants suggested the cleanser and Centella Recovery Skin Salve. And you know what? They work! Within 2 days, the itch is gone, the complexion restored, and even the pigmentation from scarring appeared to recede some. Next stop: returning my products to the other cosmetic counters. read more

I have been a customer of the brand for many years; both retail and online. This location is very small relative to some of the other ones I have visited and also has pretty weak sales and customer service. I purchases a shampoo for $30 and was not given a single free sample, as customery for the company. Another disapointment is that they keep discontinuing shampoos all the time and I have to constantly switch to a new product. My fave used to be the daily one ( it had pic of a swimmer if I recall) and now another one is gone. The prices are somewhat steep and while I have several products (Facial Fuel,etc) I would use more if the price was a little more reasonable. They have a shave cream for $19 and bar of soap for $20. The staff at this location in Woodfield Mall is another reason I keep coming back. Led by the store manager Tess, these girls provide top notch service and make great suggestion. I've long been a fan of Kiehl's products, but this store really takes it to the next level. The staff is friendly and while the store is tiny, they really make you feel like you're getting a high end experience when visiting. They're more than willing to let you try any product without the high pressure sales tactics that you find in department stores; and will always ask if you want to take home a sample or two to try at your leisure. It's not hard to come in here and drop over a $100 on beauty products...but you will always know it'll last the long haul. Love you, Kiehls! read more

Have been purchasing Kiehl's for years as gifts. Went in to the Woodfield location recently to purchase some presents for the holidays and I had a great experience. I am not rating the products efficacy, as I returned what I purchased. The service here was just not very good. It might be a result of hiring on new people for the holiday rush, but the manager was a bit rude, cold, and generally unpleasant. It is a bit too small and crowded. The bill was $430 for stuff that fit into a tiny shopping bag. The heat was cranked up really high for some reason. It took them about 15 minutes just to return my items. They hounded me a bit too aggressively about my reasons for returning the products too. With good service and a few minor improvements, I am sure the shop would be just fine. Coach up the staff and ditch the mean and unhelpful manager. Kiehl's online store was much better. Even when there was a problem with my order charging me for shipping, it was resolved quickly and politely. Buy online. The prices are cheaper, there are more promotions, there are no lines, and the help is better. read more
