I have been to this location several times, but probably five years ago or so. I was looking forward to my recent appointment as it was a birthday present for myself. I had hoped for a facial and the Aveda Aqua Massage. When I checked in for my appointments, they asked for my Groupon for the Aveda Sensory Facial. The Groupon was scanned and nothing was said to me. Not until I was in my robe and in the treatment room. The aesthetician told me that I had used a Groupon in the past (which must've been years ago) and they either couldn't honor it or I could use it towards paying the full price of the facial. I forgot if I had used one years ago. The aesthetician talked to me about my massage. And it was just a salt scrub. I said no it was supposed to be the aqua Massage. And she said that wasn't what was booked. And I don't do those you'd have to see a regular masseuse for that. I just agreed to go along because I wanted to have a nice experience, but it wasn't looking too good. The salt scrub was OK but if it lasted a half hour I would be surprised. Between the "hour" facial and the body scrub I was in the room for maybe an hour and a half. The service was OK. Then I went into the steam shower area, which is always nice. I got dressed and I went to check out at the front desk I wanted a copy of the receipt because of the difference in cost with the facial and the massage. The woman said we only email them. I should've waited for my email before leaving. When I did receive the email I had started driving. So on my receipt, they did not give me the full $79 credit that I paid for my Groupon. They only gave me $63 in credit. Also, there's a $4 additional charge on the receipt. I called back that afternoon and had to leave a message because the recording said they were busy. No one returned my call. I called back the following day and was told that the additional $4 charge was to help offset the cost of the keeping the exceptional experience at the Asha Salon Spa??? I was told that they only applied $63 of my Groupon because they have to pay Groupon the $16 back. And that's how Groupon makes money. I have never heard of that before and I've used Groupon for years. They stood by their comments. I sent an email to Groupon who was supposed to get back to me within a week. I have not heard from them. At this point, I don't think I'll be using Groupon. If I do use Asha Salon spa in the future, I would make sure and double check I have the services I wanted, the prices and the length of the treatment clearly defined before I checked in for my appointment. This is my go-to hair salon. I've been coming here for a long time, and every staff member is so well trained. I have curly hair that I like to straighten, so it's extremely important that I have someone who can work with it. The staff does a fantastic job! The interior has always been very serene, the beds are heated, and they have warming racks for your robe during your treatment. I recently saw Dainora and can honestly say she was one of the best massage therapists I've had in a long time. I felt incredibly relaxed. I've been very tense lately, and she found a way to apply the right pressure for how intense my knots were, without hurting me! New review: Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results over and over again....why I would return to this salon and let Carla touch my hair is beyond me ! She is supposedly the blonde specialist! She is a brass sloppy mess specialist, DOES NOT listen. Don't let her touch your hair! I usually wait to cry until I get home or at least gerto my car but I couldn't even hold it in this time. HALF of my hair got fried off from bleach when I specifically told ANGELI that I don't think my hair can handle any more bleach. I also specifically told her I like my roots and do not want any highlights in them. She used bleach AND gave me highlights at the expense of, I'm not even exaggerating, HALF of my hair. And it's a matter of time and styling before another 25% falls off. In the past I've had experiences where I didn't like the placement of highlights or the low lights werent exactly the color I was hoping for, small things like that but I have NEVER had someone just blatantly not listen to what I wanted. Aside from the fact she damaged my hair beyond repair, the neutral/cool root color I asked for was definitely golden. She literally took it upon herself to do whatever she wanted to my hair! It was not an accident or mistake or misunderstanding, she just did not listen and that's another reason why this is just soo frustrating! I asked not to be placed with Angeli again bc she never stops talking to listen to what you want, she gives me anxiety; she threw the comb at the guest next to us twice just from talking like a maniac, so they set me up with Karla to fix it. Karla got the color right but the damage is already done. My platinum blonde ends that I was working on getting for MONTHS and the thousand dollars I spent to achieve it are literally down the drain. Now I will have to wait months, probably even a year to try to get platinum again. Not to mention the 1500 dollar Dreamcatchers extensions I ordered to match do not match anymore. NOW... This is why I only have the salon 4 stars rather than 5, even though right now I feel like giving 3. #1 because I have been going to Asha for many years and haven't always had the best experience but I never ever complained. I also still tip 15-20% even when I'm unhappy. I understand people are human, mistakes happen, miscommunications etc. #2 the first time I actually felt like I had a super horrible experience and literally couldn't even hold back my tears and asked to speak to the manager, the manager did not give a crap. She was more concerned about trying to get me to go to the back so the people walking by and other guests wouldnt see me crying. She offered me a complimentary botanical treatment and a sample of shampoo and conditioner. As a long time client I expected more but honestly I don't know what I expected, I was soo upset, and actually there's nothing that can be done. So if you want to go to Asha, don't expect any sympathy if they mess up. I would avoid Angeli like the plague. Irene is always excellent for a cut. Actually, she's the only person allowed to trim my hair. The girl Rose I saw before the disaster happened, hit the nail on the head with my hair color but she's no longer there so I will most likely be seeing Karla again. Disappointing and Unfair Treatment I had an appointment at 11:00 AM and arrived at 11:04 AM. When I got there, the receptionist was speaking with another woman, so I waited for about two minutes before approaching. When I finally spoke to her, she told me they couldn't accept me because I was late, as they had already taken another guest. I was shocked--how could they have scheduled someone else within just four minutes of my appointment time? I tried to explain that I was only a few minutes late, but she insisted I was ten minutes late. I even showed her the time--it was 11:08, and I had already been standing there for five minutes. When I requested to speak to a manager or supervisor, she completely ignored my request and instead picked up the phone to talk to someone while I was still speaking to her. I felt completely dismissed and disrespected. It was as if I wasn't even a person. As a mother of two, rescheduling is not easy, and I tried to explain my situation, but she wouldn't even listen. This experience left me very disappointed and frustrated. It seems like they double-booked appointments and then refused to take responsibility. I expect better customer service and accountability. At the very least, the staff should acknowledge and address customer concerns rather than ignoring them. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, improves their scheduling process, and ensures that customers are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. I started getting massages from Margo earlier this year. I've had many massage therapists over the years and she's one of the best. I run and bike a lot so sometimes my legs need extra work. Her deep tissue massage is great. Sometimes I just want a relaxing massage and she's very good at that too. I would definitely recommend her. read more

Do not go to Asha Salon at Woodfield. The service is terrible. I went in for light ash blonde highlights and was told it was $200, I told them I wanted a blow out and a trim and was told no problem. I was in the chair on a Sunday from 11:30 to 3:00 and after 3 and a half hours here's what I got. Terrible coloring, a hair wash by a technician who poured water all down my back, pants and socks. I was soaked. I told the manager and she shrugged her shoulders and dint do a thing. I was told they were short staffed and couldn't blow dry my hair or trim it. I was then told the fee would be $285 not $200. I wrote a check and was told they don't accept checks. What kind of business doesn't accept checks! At least at Mario Tricco you get a curtesy blow out. This was the worst service, color I have ever had. I don't recommend anyone go there for service. Its just a bad rip off. read more

I will start off the review to note that I prefer Aveda salons for their products and I find that the Aveda salons tend to be pretty consistent with service. Rarely, if ever I have a bad time. To make a long story short, my previous person left the shop he worked at and I needed to start somewhere new for my haircuts. I have had some great male stylists who have well-advised me on a haircut styling that reflects what I want yet plays up my hair's "strengths". Ryan was no exception to that rule, and I have nothing but glowing things to say about him. He is as friendly, thoughtful, and all-around great as he is at his profession. Quick discussion, I showed some old notes my previous Aveda stylist kept of my preferences, and Ryan made sure I was satisfied from start to finish of service. Great guy, and look forward to continue as his and Asha's client. Just some notes on the Salon: it's very easy to get to, they have an outside facing door on the Woodfield Mall, so you don't have to go searching everywhere to find it within. Their booking system is super easy, the salon is bright, comfortable, clean, and waiting time was minimal. The salon is well run and the front desk crew were very nice- even were doing a wheel of giveaways for the holiday (I got $20 off my next service). Thought I was treating my 3 daughters to wonderful, relaxing facials. Scheduling was messed up. Towels smelled musty. One daughter left in tears, because technician constantly criticized her acne and scolded her eating habits ("you have really bad skin because you eat too much chocolate and spicy food") and skin care regimen, despite the fact that she was following dermatologist's orders. Her nose was red and swollen for days afterwards. Other daughter didn't get foot soak, hand or foot massage. It was a VERY expensive and extremely disappointing experience!! For example, my last visit before this one fell so far in the 'negative star' spectrum, I didn't update my review. (I hate being negative, so I put it behind me and moved on.) My family is currently going through a very stressful time, so I decided to try something I'm terrible at -- treating myself; self care is not my forte, but I'm trying! There's also something about the ambiance at Asha that really gets through to me...it definitely sucks when the massage is bad, but I would honestly just come here to hang out for a few hours. It's THAT relaxing. Tea, lemon and cucumber water, heated aromatherapy neck pillows, stunning interior design and cozy seating....need I say more? I spoke to Cate from Asha over Yelp, and she was incredibly kind and responsive. She helped me set up an appointment, and I came in for the 60 minute Aroma massage. I had 'fresh talent,' meaning my masseuse was new, and she did a good enough job. She was a total sweetheart, so I was happy. Sitting here, though, is truly wonderful. I can't get enough of the spa interior and all its amenities, and the new location inside Woodfield is on another level. If anyone's reading, please offer day passes! From start to finish, my experience at Asha was terrible. The staff didn't understand that I wanted a "gel manicure." They asked," No chip?" I said that we call it gel but maybe you call it no-chip. Ok. Picked out color and manicurist looking to match color for 3 full minutes without starting my nails first. When I told her that I wasn't telling her her business but could we start wrapping the nails and while the polish remover was working, she could look for the color I had picked. She moved very slowly from seating me to asking about polish choice to trying to match the color She came back to table and said that she didn't think she had the time to finish. Maybe we could try to finish. I asked her to speak to her manager about this. Another five minutes went by. I asked what the manager said but she said that her manager was busy. I didn't know what took so long I got up and went to the front desk. Some of the staff tried to talk to me but I wanted the manager. The manager was busy and wouldn't talk to me. I insisted. Manager said she would talk to me at 4:00. It was now 1:30. I explained that if I treated my customers in this same fashion, that I would have no business. The same went for my husband and his business. I'll give this review a 1 star because some of the employees tried to help when the manager refused. Needless to say. I loved my salon services; however, cost transparency and checkout is seriously flawed. I had a haircut with Susan (which is always amazing) and I had my roots done and partial highlights with Mary (which was great). Upon checkout I also purchased a shampoo and conditioner. I was told the total. No breakdown provided. A paper receipt or a VISUAL breakdown of services would be ideal. There is a breakdown on the screen facing reception (then emailed after), why can't the customer see some version of this before they pay? Reception couldn't automatically enter a 20% tip without tipping on my shampoo/conditioner purchase also. When asked the total charged for color/highlight, I was given the wrong amount (only the color). I significantly under tipped Mary because of this. Now I will make a special trip back to the salon to correct this ... I'm not calling reception. My experience is seriously tarnished from a bad checkout procedure and just a lack of cost transparency. Consider being more transparent with prices (instead of mystery until checkout ... or maybe just provide a visual cost breakdown at checkout). I was asked if I wanted a receipt printed or emailed. I asked for a printed receipt as I was curious why numbers weren't adding up properly. I was then told, we can only do email. I was only supposed to pay $115 for the color and $50 for a haircut but apparently during my wash the colorist decided to add a treatment without my knowledge or consent that brought my total to $235. Then when i nicely said at the front counter what happened and why i was leaving the woman/manager there asked me if i had a "nerve problem" i said no, then they made me pay $45 for this crappy painful (still hurts and feels raw today) job. ABUSIVE & RACIST STAFF ***I posted a similar review a while back that the business contested. Since then they have been offering rewards to people to give a high review on Yelp and social media** This place used to be tolerable only bc K, senior stylist who held over half the clients at the salon worked there. She got tired of the incessant abuse from admin and left. Instead of telling clients the truth that Kelly left they told her she died. Now asha is pretty empty. Staff regularly forget to put appts on the calendar, mix them up, double book staff, assign you to the wrong person, and schedule consecutive services hours apart on the same day. They inconveniently call to gaslight customers that their appt wasn't when they booked it. Repeatedly. They are so inept that it took 2 weeks for them to figure out how to get a gift card. Most of the women at the front desk are very abrasive unpleasant invasive and wannabe high end snobby. Well today was the last straw when I decided to never give that place $ again. Another client (left unattended for an hour) was harassing me, which escalated into her getting into my face and cursing at me with racial slurs, mental health diagnosis, and expletives. A man who works there saw it as he was standing with us and did literally nothing. Nobody was stopping her and people walked by shocked. I told the employee and the woman working standing next to him that when there's a conflict at a place of business between customers it is their job to intervene, state what the expected code of conduct is and remove anyone who is not following the code of conduct. The woman replied that the psycho client and i are both adults and can handle it ourselves and went off into a non sensical tyraid. However any QUALITY place of business knows that in order to keep standards, it is their job to intervene among patrons in such a drastic situation. I said racial slurs and curses were thrown at me (which the male employee witnessed) and together at the desk they ignored me. Then I asked how they would feel if someone called them names and the female employee became irate that I should even suggest that and got downright aggressive with me, I thought she would leap over the desk. These 2 staff members really made an extremely hostile and unsafe atmosphere, especially for a spa! It was then that she told me to walk around the mall for 45 minutes as she didn't schedule my next appointment properly. I come back after 45 minutes and female employee announces loudly and proudly that she has called top management (not true) who have approved for my facial (that started now) to be cancelled and that I'm never allowed in the salon again. So, my poor esthetician who was waiting for me didn't get any money that day. Well, after that I contacted K and she said same as usual. I am going to report what has happened to National management (forget the management at inept Woodfield) as Gia is on a power trip and this situation was handled so unprofessionally. Now, I can only assume they are waiting for my review so they can contest it but what I wrote is the gospel truth. And there's a lot more where that came from. I went to Asha a few weeks ago for a manicure. I made the appointment and was immediately bombarded with "upgrade" suggestions. I wanted a manicure, not a massage, hair cut, etc. I was initially pleased to see they offered the OPI 2 week polish. While my nails were being done, the technician kept saying how much she'd like to do my hair cut and color. Again, I was there for a manicure nothing else. She polished my nails. No hand massage or any other extra. As soon as my service was done she left me while my nails dried. I sat alone in a room. No one ever entered. Really weird. And the technician never returned to check on me. As if this wasn't bad enough, the 2 week polish lasted a few days at best. This was a $25 manicure!! Will I ever return? A big NO. I've been to Asha once for a manicure, but decided to give their hair salon a shot. I am completely overjoyed with the outcome. I had Paige as my stylist and she did a fantastic job. She listened to everything I had to say and worked with me to get the hair I wanted. I have never been more satisfied with my hair. I will definitely be returning in the future! Edit: So, I just returned to Asha to fix my hair color. I recently decided to try and dye my hair blue. After about three weeks I started to despise it and gave Asha a shot to correct it. Joselyn completely fixed my hair and I'm in love with it! It turned out so gorgeous and the color has a lot of dimension. I have never been so happy in my life. I definitely did not think she would be able to work such wonders, but here we are! If you stop in, definitely ask for Joselyn! She'll amaze you. I went for a full-body massage on a Saturday morning, performed by Dina. I had never gotten an authentic massage (only other one I've ever received was at my gym, and it wasn't very good). However, what I received from Dina was transformative, both physically and mentally. Truthfully, I always assumed massages "felt" good, but I never bought into the idea it could make you feel better in other aspects of your life. Dina changed that perception with her excellent, professional and comforting service. First, she consulted on what problem areas I had (I work in an office setting, so I am sedentary for long periods of time - negatively affecting my neck, shoulders, upper back and hamstrings). Throughout the massage, she targeted those problem areas incredibly well - in terms of both how long she spent on them and the amount of pressure she put on them. She was very courteous and conscious of my pain threshold, checking in sporadically to make sure I was enjoying the treatment, and was not bothersome in the slightest with conversation. I've heard masseuses can talk quite frequently thought out a massage, ruining the tranquility of the experience. This was the farthest thing from, as Dina made sure her focus was dedicated to the massage. I couldn't have imagined starting a Saturday morning any better, as the treatment with Dina positively affected the rest of my day. I felt rejuvenated, relaxed and refreshed - a feeling I'm still centered on nearly 36 hours later. I'm not sure if Dina will ever see this, but I cannot thank her enough for how she's changed my perspective. I highly recommend both Dina and Asha for anyone like me who wasn't sure if a massage is necessary worth it, because I can assure you it is. It's pricey, don't get me wrong, but I do believe it is worth it based on how I feel now.
