We bought a 2003 home that still had its original roof, complete with solar panels, and had to coordinate everything from a distance. That could have been incredibly stressful, but Marcus made it feel surprisingly easy. He was consistently proactive, communicative, and transparent throughout the project. We never felt like we were wondering what was happening. When rain threatened the schedule, he immediately brought in additional crew members so they could finish before the weather rolled in. Instead of excuses, he found solutions. The installation itself was fast, organized, and professional. The crew arrived when they said they would and got the job done efficiently. One unexpected highlight was the documentation afterward. The drone photos of the finished roof were outstanding, and the detailed paperwork made getting approval from our homeowners insurance company simple. It's one of those little things you don't think about until you need it, and they absolutely delivered. We did run into some frustrations with the separate solar vendor, but as far as Elite Roof & Solar is concerned, we'd hire them again in a heartbeat. In fact, our parents are buying an older home in the Asheville area. When that roof eventually needs replacing, Marcus will be our first call. It's rare to find a contractor who combines excellent workmanship with great communication and follow-through. Elite Roof & Solar earned our trust, and that's probably the highest compliment we can give.

The job was done right, the workers worked hard and the supervisor did his job on site. My first contract with the estimator was truly amazing. Tyler was the sales rep and he was fabulous in NC. The installers were just out of this world! Ray and Jay worked together so well. There should have been another man but his wife had a baby; so a crew from Texas came and helped too. They, too, were fantastic! Eric and Ben along with a fill in from Texas did the electric on different days because of the rain. ALL of the crews were fantastic. I highly recommend them. Tomorrow our county comes and inspects and we should be up and running. Eager to do our part to save the planet. We are very pleased with Freedom Solar!

I went with Freedom after the initial company I was going to use dropped the ball. Freedom was a little more expensive bemuse we selected the top of the line Sun Power panels. Freedom Solar has a decentralized approach to project management. The sales rep would did the initial presentation was okay - a little shaky on his knowledge base. He said he would oversee the project - after a while he dropped out of sight and everything was done via their customer service department. Overall the customer service reps were good. Couple of issues - getting approval from our HOA. They snail mailed the initial application / fee which the HOA said they never received. Customer service resent and eventually we got HOA approval. My question is how come in this day and age was this process not done electronically. Installation day comes - the electrician shows up and works till after sunset to complete his tasks. The panel installers never showed up - we were contacted at the end of their time window. Instead of rescheduling for the install the next day we had to wait a couple of days for somebody to be flown in from Texas (we are in North Carolina). All the inspections passed without issue. The app is easy to use for monitoring. Time will tell how much benefit we will receive - keeping fingers crossed for positive results. One last annoyance - got an invite to a zoom call to review the system and app - BUT it can't be scheduled for several more weeks. Would have thought it would have been scheduled with in a week of turning the system on. I would have preferred if Freedom Solar had a true project manager who coordinated and communicated all that is going on rather than their decentralized approach.

One panel stopped working after 2.5 years and while the contract says they will maintain the system for 25 years, it took 2 months to get a service person to come and fix the non-functioning panel. Now at 3 years, I have another panel not functioning. I have tried calling 3 times, waited on the phone for 15-20 minutes for a customer service person, and when the answering machine says I am next in line, a recording comes on and tells me to leave my information and someone will get back to me. But no one returns my calls or messages.

You did some quick research and saw the string of negative reviews that are recent but still let them gaslight you into thinking the company can be trusted and there may have been a few bad apples within the company that were purged from the company after they were discovered. This company is messed up at the roots, they will sell you an expensive product that doesn't work as promised and leave you hanging as every salesperson and project manager disappear and stop responding to calls and messages once the install is completed and the sale is done. I feel ashamed to let them talk me into going solar again as the made false promises and stop responding to my concerns. I've been here before with another solar company that went out of business. I was promised savings on my energy bill but in reality, the saving I was making was immediately negated by the monthly payment of the solar system. I didn't want to be in this position again as when the system stopped working, I paid the full price of the energy bill plus the solar panels. Top Tier sold me system that isn't working because it is not activated and they are slow to respond. I'm paying for the battery and the full price of my energy bill while they drag their feet on activating it. I just thought it wasn't working but they told me poor performance is due to the system not being fully activated and I need to get a permission to operate letter from my power company. The power company is cooperating, but I need Top Tier to actually help me give the power company the information they ask for to get the letter. The project manager drags his feet and doesn't respond, and the sales rep is doing the same. To make things worse they had a quality assurance personnel try to sell me a more expensive solution as a fix. Never again! They wanted to sell me a 22Kw propane gas electric generator to get me off the grid. They already told me the max consumption battery will do just that and give up to 300 credits per month of energy credit. I'm not seeing anywhere near that, and I'm not supposed to trust them with a more costly solution on top of the current solution I'm already paying for? The quality assurance person placed me on speaker phone with a big sales executive who talked like he was pretty high up in the company. He was trying to give me all kind of deals off the price of the product, but I'm already stretched with their current non-working product so it was a hard no for me. I was on the phone with him for well over an hour before he started to gaslight me telling me how I have trust issues and telling his quality assurance specialist who came to my door that it is not her fault and she is doing everything right, that I'm the problem because I have trust issues. Obviously, they are not in my shoes and couldn't care less about my experience with the prior solar company which at least have the excuse of going out of business; a now their company that is actively screwing me over with high prices non-functioning systems that they seem to care less about giving me any kind of priority to get things working while I'm still paying of the loan I took up for their product. They have the nerve to try to sell be a more expensive product while I'm in the middle of this. Solar power is a waste of time, sanity and finances. It will work in niche situations but as long as you have to pay for the system if you don't have the up-front cash for it, you aren't seeing any savings. By the time you pay off the loan, it will be time to get new panels again as they have about a 15 to 20-year lifespan. You are not really saving anything. Save yourself the headaches of having to deal with terrible companies like this to put yourself into expense while the company leaves to high and dry.
