Equipment looks good, but I would not use Top Tier again. Late in the process (after install), guy came out and told me that there was a $30/month monitoring fee. This blows the small ROI out of the water. Very disappointing. Then I found out this fee was optional, but I wasn't told. I asked about cancelling the fee and it would cost me about 5 years of the fee to cancel it. As for the install, installers and engineers disagreed and I ended up with an install that looks uglier than it should. They offered to fix that, but wife didn't want more holes in the roof at that point. read more

One year ago I had my system installed. Top Tier failed in customer service. Calls not returned. "I was sick." I am out of the office." These texts I saved. I have also recorded much of the verbal communications with them. However, in the end my system has been performing very well providing me with approximately 5 months without a Duke Energy bill. Fast forward to 2/23 this year. I get a text from Erick with Top Tier (text message snap shot) under the guise of sending someone from their office to check in with me (a consultation). Erick also inquired as to whether or not I was still get electric bills. I shared the information as I just did in the above paragraph. On February 27 the person who arrived at my home was Wilbert Mitchem. He was a salesperson, not a consultant. He immediately began a sales pitch about a "backup battery." After he laid out what it was I began asking questions. I told him that if I was understanding him correctly this would be a battery I could access (plugging in) for running some of my things inside (fridge, freezer etc). He responded in the positive. I asked him how big this battery would be. He pointed to my Emeril Toaster Oven and told me that it would be a little bigger than that. We then went outside to look at my system...again, was installed over a year ago. It's important to note here that my system also has a battery that simply stores power for any power outages and will run four circuits in my house for up to four days. I set a date with Top Tier for this installation. Wilbert had told me that, even after looking into my pantry/laundrey room, this backup battery could be installed there. I had to message Top Tier that we would have to delay the installation because something had come for me. I asked them to contact me directly with the new installation date. I never heard from them after that. I went out to my garden in my back yard one day early March. As I went to my car I noticed ANOTHER BATTERY attached to my wall. Not just any battery, it was the exact SAME battery as was already installed with my system. Dimensions--30 tall x 42 tall x11 inches deep. Most interesting was the fact that Wilbert stood right in front of the original battery that was installed with my system. So that means he blatantly lied about the battery he was selling or he had no clue WHAT he was selling. The installation took place without me being notified. I have to installers on my security cameras. Top Tier was slow in returning my calls. I was sick or I am out of the office was a frequent response. When I did get someone on the phone they were absolutely not helpful.. I called the fiance company GoodLeap. Essentially they told me.....you signed the paperwork so you're 3crewed. After speaking to Cody at Top Tier I was told pretty much the same thing. Interestingly Wilbert showed up at my door during all this. I have his picture saved on my phone from my ring camera. Through my Nextdoor App I have shared this all over East Charlotte and asked others to spread it across Charlotte. I was cordial to him when I went outside, but I made it very clear to him to never set foot in my yard again or I would have him arrested for trespassing. I am not sure if Wilbert or Top Tier understand that when a salesperson enters a persons home they have no expectation of privacy. When I spoke with Cody yesterday (5/28) I made sure he knew that all of my phone conversations have been and will be recorded. I highly recommend solar especially with Duke prices rising so sharply. For the past three months I have carried a negative balance on my electric bill....yes, Duke is paying me almost $2.50 per month. Top Tier and Goodleap have had numerous complaints. Many have had no remedy. In doing research I have found that the BBB has several unresolved complaints with Top Tier. Based on what I have a read IMO I'd say this smacks of predatory behavior. read more

I called my existing solar panel company and they are aware that this company is trying to scam their customers. I do not feel safe that these scammers keep saying they are going to come to my house to check on my panels. For the past couple weeks we have been bombarded with text messages and phone calls from Top Tier to review our solar system. Top Tier Solar gained access to my home by falsely presenting themselves as Solar Edge, a company that was involved with my Solar panel installation. They then tried to sell me batteries with high pressure sales techniques. I told them I did not appreciate being decieved about who they were, and asked to be removed from their contacts. My story is a bit different than what I can find here but hey... please continue reading. At this point I've been having the system for 11 months. I have a few positive points. 1. Installation - Installation was exceptional. 2. System Start - Process between installation and the system to function was normal. It took about a month and a half. This takes some time because of the state and company permissions to operate. Here is where some people get mad because if it takes a long time to get the permit, Top Tier can't do anything about it and you need to start paying for the system (This is part of the agreement between you and Top Tier). 3. Sales Process - My overall experience was good but here I need to be honest with you guys... they are not honest with you when they sell the system. There is always something that a lot of people don't notice and they don't tell you. In my case they told me I just needed to pay $200 and $285 if I did not use the federal refund towards the loan with a 4.5% interest. It sounds great right? $200-$285 and I will be saving around $300 monthly in electric bill and 4.5% interest only. Well.... after paying for 8 months I realized not a single dollar was going to the principal. I called the Goodleap (financing company) and ask them when my money was going to go towards the principal. They said they couldn't see that in the system. I then asked them for a way to see the amount of interest I was paying against the total interest I owe at the moment. Again, they were no able to see that in the system. So after talking for about 15 mins I figured out that if I pay $200 monthly, I would be paying that for life with no money going to the principal and this is because my interest each moth is $320 so actually I am building more interest (around $120 after paying the $200). My grandchildren would still be paying for this. Can you imagine what would it be someone who figure this out after 3 or 5 years? Giving money for free? I was able to figure this out but I feel sooo bad for the third age people who just pay minimum payments not knowing they will never pay it out. I am 100% sure Top Tier knows this but they don't tell you cause they want you to think you will have a low payment so you buy their system. To me, honestly, worth more than all good you can do as a company and they failed so bad. Fortunately for me I will be able to give some extra money and start paying it out but not everybody is in the same position as me so think it twice if you are going solar cause I am pretty sure this is not the only company that does this. read more

My panels were installed Sept 2023, Since that time I have had 12 of 54 panels stop making power due to optimizers failing. I have also had 1 of 2 invertors fail. All components have a 10 year warranty. Have had multiple appointments for techs to come repair those parts. When calling to schedule appointment most times it took more than a month to get a tech to show up. For those wanting solar I suggest you do NOT use Top Tier, poor quality control, poor service, find another option. read more

Had to request resolution for another issue multiple times. Have had multiple project managers. Stay away from this company. Seriously. Like many others, this started with constant calls and texts. Here is the exact message they sent us: "REACHING OUT ABOUT YOUR SOLAR PANEL. WE WORK DIRECTLY WITH SOLAREDGE AND ENPHASE. OUR TECHICIANS ARE PREFORMING SYSTEM AUDITS TO ENSURE YOU'RE YOUR INVERTER IS OPERATING AT FULL CAPACITY. NOTHING MAJOR, WE JUST WANT TO VERIFY YOUR SYSTEM ISN'T LOSING POWER. WE WILL BE IN YOUR AREA TODAY AND TOMORROW. WE CAN BE AT YOUR HOME ANYTIME BETWEEN 11 AM TO 7 PM. THE APPOINTMENT IS FREE AND IT SHOULD ONLY TAKE ABOUT 45 MINUTES. WHAT TIME WORKS FOR YOU?" They make it sound routine and legitimate--but it's a sales tactic. We already knew our original solar company had gone out of business. That was actually part of their pitch. They used that situation to push us into buying a battery system we didn't originally plan on purchasing. They didn't come to inspect anything--they came to sell. They were quick to install and collect money, but very slow to fix the problem. The battery they installed is faulty, with visible damage including indentations in the casing. We were told it needs to be replaced, and we were also told we should have received two batteries instead of one. Since then, it's been nothing but the runaround. We've dealt with at least four different people, none of whom follow through. In early March, we were told they could not replace the battery until June 30th--leaving us stuck for months with a defective system. Meanwhile, we're tied to a $20,000 loan on equipment that doesn't even work. We were told we had 90 days before the first payment was due. That was not true. Payments started much sooner, and when we contacted the financing company, they confirmed there was no 90-day delay on file. We've already made payments on a system that is nonfunctional. We were also told we would be refunded for a payment and instructed to submit proof. We did--and never heard anything back. Then a man showed up claiming to be a "quality advisor." We explained everything. He promised a resolution within 48 hours--then disappeared. Before leaving, he even tried to sell us additional products like a panel monitoring the solar system and a security system. This company is disorganized at best and deceptive at worst. We have Top Tier solar panels on our home. The panels themselves look good and function as expected now, but our experience with the company has been very poor. The panels were installed in April 2024 but were not turned on until September 2024 because Top Tier failed to file the inspection paperwork with our town. We missed the highest solar production months of the year. We contacted Top Tier and the town repeatedly to get this resolved and received minimal communication from Top Tier. We were told we would be compensated for this delay and that company leadership would follow up with us. Neither of those things happened. Most recently, a visit that was presented as a system check turned into a high pressure sales pitch for a battery system, which we were not told about in advance. We repeatedly stated we were not making a decision that evening. When we ended the meeting so our kids could go to bed, a representative told us we were being rude and made an inappropriate comment about our home environment while on speakerphone. Misrepresenting appointments, ignoring service issues, and using pressure tactics in a customer's home is unacceptable. Scam. Received call time to inspect solar panels ION installed a few years ago. Woman on phone said they do installation and maintenance / repairs for ION. Guy arrived an hour early for appt and was puffy I said he shouldn't go on grass because it has been sprayed for mosquitoes 20 minutes earlier. I had told phone solicitor about the time constraint earlier. He said he wanted to look in my attic and seemed irritated I said no I'd already said not an option. This appointment was obstensibly made to inspect and make any necessary repair recommendations for my solar installation. I asked if this was a sales pitch. He looked at my electrical bill and enphase energy report. He never even looked at the panels from the ground, much less inspect the system. It was a sales pitch for installing batteries. He said my system was obsolete without batteries. He was really pushy about it, too. He said that Top Tier Solar is a parent company of ION Solar. They are not. read more

I feel it's incredibly important to share my recent experience with Top Tier Solar Solutions, as their sales tactics left us feeling misled and pressured. My husband and I are both concerned about the rising AEP rates, and like many others, it's a common pain point for us. That's exactly what Top Tier Solar seems to prey on. It started with a door-to-door salesman from North Carolina who came to our home, speaking with my husband and highlighting the upcoming AEP rate hikes - he even claimed they'd add up to a staggering 50%. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch. After hooking us with this concern, they quickly sent in another person to discuss solar options. This second individual tried to pressure my husband into signing an agreement on the spot, stating he had five days to cancel, though the actual contract clearly states three. This all unfolded Friday. When the salesperson came over to talk about equipment, my husband told him upfront that he'd need our attorney to review any contract before signing anything. He seemed fine with that, saying it was "no problem" and he could get back to us in two weeks. However, he then pushed my husband to "just accept the quote" to lock it into his system, calling it "baby cached" and assuring him it was "nothing binding." My husband and I wanted time to compare prices and think things over, especially since they also offered roofing services, and their quote for that seemed pretty decent compared to others we'd received. Because he insisted it was only to "save the quote in the system," and not a project contract, my husband made him wait while he meticulously read what he thought was simply a terms of service agreement - something applicable only if a project were to move forward. He repeatedly assured my husband it wasn't the project contract. Feeling somewhat reassured by his persistence that it wasn't binding, my husband signed it. That was a huge mistake. Despite my husband's careful reading, what he signed was, in fact, a binding legal agreement for a cash payment of tens of thousands of dollars. What's more, the agreement itself didn't even list a price or payment terms. Those details were on a separate digital proposal they emailed him later. This entire experience boils down to this: if they can't strong-arm you into willingly signing an agreement, they'll resort to outright lying and misrepresenting the contract to get you to sign, playing on your fear of missing out. They want you to skim the agreement, and even though my husband didn't skim it and read it entirely, he was completely misled into believing it wasn't a contract. He even confirmed it with him twice: -My Husband: "So this is not the project contract, right?" -Sales Person: "Nah, man, that's just to keep the quote in the system, we haven't even done a credit check yet. We'll do that when it's time to move forward." Friday night, after he left, my husband took the time to review everything again and did some legal research. It all just felt off, especially when, on his way out, he started making small talk that inexplicably led to him discussing his company's questionable Better Business Bureau (BBB) reviews and their "narcissistic 20-something-year-old CEOs" (yes, plural, for some reason). Needless to say, my husband made it a priority to go to the Post Office first thing Saturday morning. He promptly mailed the cancellation notice they require you to send to Charlotte, NC, to cancel without cause within the prescribed three business days. We sent a certified letter with request for signature. In short, this was a difficult lesson for us, and despite the extreme embarrassment we're feeling, we want to warn anyone considering this company. Top Tier Solar is, unfortunately, known for these kind of slimy practices. I found online that the Mayor of Wheeling, WV pulled their permit to operate in the city due to numerous complaints from citizens in March of 2025. Please be careful if they come to your door. We have filed complaints with the BBB, the City of Bluefield, and the WV Attorney General. read more

They change your project managers without notice. It has been over three months and my added backup batteries are still not in operation. The job called for 2 days and again it has been 3 months and still not complete. I was promised a 2k incentive for doing business for doing business with them and that never was given to me. The score I originally gave (1star) was based on communication and the 6 months it took for them to activate the panels. After the review they corrected the communication and got the panels activated. I was told that I would get a bill from Duke but it would be $14-20 depending on consumption. Well... since then my electric bill has been $72 on the low and $331 on the high end. My normal bill is $200-$300. My finance on the panels is $321. Because, I was still getting high bills I called and they changed the battery consumption. I also was told my HVAC system was old. No issues, just old. So I replaced the entire system in October. (another added bill) I was told that would help... then I just got a $331 duke bill. So now Im paying the ridiculous Duke bill, $321 solar bill, and a $200 HVAC replacement bill. I just called and the lady said I could monitor my battery daily and don't let it discharge until it's fully charged. I think that's ridiculous! I can't afford this. I'm literally in tears. This was a bad decision. Adding: Ive been on edge about this so Ive been making sure things are unplugged that arent being used (toaster, air fryer, chargers etc.. Ive been keeping the heat down to 68-70. And the three of us are walking around here freezing, double layers of clothes, and blankets! Ive NEVER had to live like this!!!!!! read more

This is a horrible company, not only will they tell you it will run your whole house for a week if the battery backup is installed. Then you find out for 32k it will run the refer, microwave and a light. When you question them they tell you it can't power anything on a 220V circuit. So you will burn up in the summer and freeze in the winter. The system won't even produce enough power to offset the grid power you use. IF THEY COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND TRY AND SELL YOU ANYTHING, get rid of them. I've saved a friend from spending 48k with this company. I have also contacted the NC Attorney General's office along with the BBB. They promised to install a generator to run my AC and after the solar was installed, they said no one told me that. THEY WILL LIE AND CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND ALL YOU'LL HEAR IS CRICKETS. Oh and if anyone is dumb enough to use this sham of a company , they will send you a video and make you turn the whole system on without sending anyone. Mine didn't work and they took a week and two different techs to fix. My shitty system at best will produce 26 kw, battery takes about half charging and sends Duke about 2kw. AGAIN, STAY AWAY FROM THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY!!!!!! The response from owner again doesn't address the issue of them telling and selling us on 'system will power your whole house for a week' sales pitch. I have no idea what numbers you are telling I'm wrong on, can only go by what the solar edge app tells me it's producing and what it's sending. They never show for appointments. They installed a roof and solar for me in 11/2022. I had them put in a battery back up, but never finished the job. I waited a month for them to call me to finish, no call. When I called to schedule, they acted like I was bothering them! They finally scheduled and never showed up for the appointment! I called them and they kept me on hold and dumped me into a voicemail box! And now I just found out that they sealed my ridge vents and it caused mold to grow in my attic. A few months ago they had people come to my door cold selling their product in my community.. they promised a $50 Amazon gift card if we agreed to get a free assessment with one of their techs.. Took them up on their offer, the guy came did the assessment quoted me around $30K to install and I said was not interested.. for the next 2 hours they were in my home high pressure selling me to buy their product. It was like being at a condo timeshare presentation... they kept pushing what a great deal this was, how their company has integrity and honesty, etc.... they just wouldn't take not interested at this time for an answer.. After 2.5 hours the guy finally left. I asked about my gift card and he said i would receive it in a couple of days... Here we are 3 months and several calls later and still no gift card.... That proves they have no integrity and are not honest with their business ethics. Also came to learn several other neighbors who met with them have not received their gift cards either.. this is a total scam... or bait and switch as they call it. read more

They have now come to my property three times attempting to sell me solar for my house. I have told each person that I was not interested, with the last two being told to not come on to my property again and to stop harassing me. The latest instance, earlier today, once I asked the salesperson to leave my property and not return would not identify what company they worked for, identified a different company (Black Raven) as the company they worked for, refused to provide any type of contact information for the company that worked for, and refused to leave a first name so that when I complained I could identify them. They also said they were 'with Duke' until directly asked who they worked for. There was a Director (self-identified) with him that gave the same information. Had a terrible experience. Someone came knocking on my door to sell me a solar solution. I'm interested in solar, so heard him out. He was nice enough and seemed to know what he was talking about. But he wanted an appointment today or tomorrow when they would be "in town." I wasn't available for appointments today or tomorrow, and said so. Happy to try to schedule a meeting later on. He called his supervisor, I let him know some of my concerns from an earlier solar provider and expressed my interest in chatting in a couple of weeks. He immediately started saying "fine, fine, don't save money if you don't want to." Reads as a total scam to me. I told the guy at my door that I had no further interest. If they treat me that way when they're trying to sell me something, how would they treat me once I'd made a purchase. Nope! read more

Top Tier Solar Solutions is a group of liars and crooks. They use fraudulent claims like lower power bills, tax rebates and more to get you to purchase their panels and batteries. None of their claims are truth. Recently, I had a young man named Trevor to sit at my kitchen table and tell me that i could refinance my current panels and reduce my loan amount by $30k. In so doing, they would throw in a new battery that would block the power company from taking my energy. My loan payment would be reduce by over $100 per month, the length of the loan would be reduced by 5 years and my power bill would be $20 per month. When the installer called to schedule an appointment to bring this "free" battery, I repeated to him the conversation I had with Trevor. He put the project on pause while he verified the details. He called me back today to cancel the install and verified that everything Trevor told me was a lie. In fact, he was financing me for a 3rd loan, not refinancing anything. This is the worst kind of crook. The kind that would look you in the eye and tell you a complete falsehood. DO NOT ENTER INTO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!! read more

I should have known better than to accept an appointment with a tech from a door to door salesman, but I had been interested in solar panels for years, and it seemed like a good time to discuss options. I was smart enough to have my partner home with me during the appointment (which lasted almost 3 hours), and I am grateful that I had a second pair of eyes and ears to later confirm what was a complete lie and scam. These reps and techs use extremely powerful tools of psychological persuasion, and they have all become obvious now that the scam is fully apparent: staying in someone's home for hours and hours manipulating and discussing numbers so as to confuse and exhaust the client, telling customers they have a 3 day period to cancel but only make their appointments late in the evenings on Fridays or early in mornings on Saturdays and requiring a certified letter to be mailed to cancel, sending young appointment guys to lure you into false security with their ignorance "because I'm just the appointment guy," etc. The "tech" (high pressure salesman) told us that 1. the system we were paying for would be enough to power our entire home and possibly receive credits from our power company for extra banked kWh 2. that we would be able to terminate our contract anytime after the 3 day period (with a fee, of course) 3. that all of our contracts and proposal paperwork would be available to view anytime through a customer portal 4. and that the solar panels would add value to our property 5. that we would receive up to $12k in tax credits. All of these claims were fraudulent. We are now paying for our nearly-unchanged power bills as well as the loan for the panels. We initially made multiple calls to Top Tier to request copies of our proposals and contracts, and were given excuse after excuse, even that "we must have them blocked on Gmail, because we can't seem to get our emails to send?" Finally, offers to drive down to their Charlotte office to get a physical copy magically fixed their email system and we reviewed our e-documents. Although my husband and I both read through the entire proposal(s) and contract multiple times, everything we discussed seemed legitimate, and the physical paperwork I signed checked out, the "e-paperwork" emailed to me looked different. Pages of numbers, pictures, and percentages had been added in-between the pages with our signatures, and ultimately we discovered we had been sold a unit that would never cover more than 46% of our power needs. More calls to our power company, Top Tier, and Sunlight Financial confirmed that we are locked into a contract that cannot be terminated without detrimental impact to our credit. We have filed complaints with the BBB, and were shocked to see so many good ratings. This company has such a good rating with the BBB because they pay employees to leave 5 star reviews. If you look, most of the 5 star reviews are made on the same days or within a day or two of each other (obviously mass hire dates). Everything about this company is slimy, and I am tempted to reach out to local news outlets. Top Tier has been involved in multiple class action suits, it might be time for another. Beyond sorry, a bunch of liars, a big mistake, the lies they tell took a year to hook us up, then the tax credit was a lie, didn't get it. I've been in my house for 27 years my PWC bills were 325 to 450 every month now we are paying 544.00 a month solar bill and still getting 350 to 400 a month bills from PWC which include our water and sewage bill they did not consider when making our bill so now I'm paying 900 to 950 every month and locked in on a 20-year loan talked to about 15 different people supposed to help they didn't. I live in Fayetteville they have come out several times and checked the system just to always say everything is working properly but PWC says no I'm only getting credit for 18 to 30 a month that's all the power my panels are saving me that's why I'm still paying a regular PWC bill like I don't even have solar that's the crazy part I really don't want to ruin my credit but its ok cause I will not make another payment that for sure I'm done. This company is the worst in every way. They give you the run around and the contract is completely fraud. I had my solar panels installed back in April. They must have contracted by another comapnt cause they didn't know who Top Tier was. I've reached out several times and can't get a hold of anybody. I occasionally get a text message from a number with no solutions. I even asked them about parts of the contract and they didn't know anything about it. I took out a loan of 67K and can't even get the work approved. Stay away from this company and definitely looking into legal action! read more

We got a nice kid in a flashy car stop by and set up an appt and said he's guarantee we'd be pleased with having solar panels. He had no badge, maybe one isn't need in NC, and not even a shirt with the logo on it - flag!. We made the appt two days out so I could do some checking. I had completed some research for solar years back and know it's great to have but not if you're overcharged for the panels and install and that you should get a return for your money in about 7 or so years. That said, we met with the guy and he spent FIVE hours at our house attempting to lull us into a form of security that he was so nice he wouldn't rip us of. I had plenty of questions and he even called his boss for help. Or, whomever he called. High pressure from the get-go and I kept saying that there's no need for pressure if the product is good. He claimed he wasn't (Oh, the guy's name was Mike, no last name and wouldn't give one in subsequent emais - flag) paid by commission, so I guess he's doing this "selling" for the Company for free. He told a neighbor we went to speak with, he was paid hourly and he was with them for ELEVEN HOURS.- bigger flag). I had completed a little checking on our needs and already calculated that we'd need 25 panels so, all we needed to do was talk money but not before listening to about four hours of more pressure repeated that solar is great and we'll get a lot more from it than we ever would paying Roanoke-co-op. The biggest thing that got me was that he said that within a year and a half and it we would 'get a total of 46% on rebates reduced the amount he wanted from us to almost half. What a deal - flag! But I wanted to know where that money was coming from and he said, the gov't. - bigger flag! So, we signed and here's the interesting part. Nowhere is Top Tier mentioned to show we signed on to anything from them. - HUGE flag! Then, he kept saying, don't worry we'll take care of everything and we have the best people and yada yada. They may but when we bought our roof the name of the supplier was all over it AND mentioned that they are doing financing through another company and we go SEE the company selling us the roof's name over lots of stuff. Top Tier? NADA. Not one mention of it anywhere. - throw in a couple of flags here! So, I emailed "Solar Mike" and aked him where it's printied that his people will be able to get those rebates for us to use against the amount due. "He'll get back to me". - Flag! I iasked him to show me something from Top Tier and then realized I didn't even know this guy's full name, so I asked him and he avoided giving it to me - DONE. Too many flags to hold so we're bailing and then I got another quote and it quoted me a price that was almost a THIRD of what Top Tier wanted and comes recommended by Roanoke electric. So, we took a partial bullet for those in Gates County on this and we baled. The 30% is available for solar installs until 2032, it's all online. I'm not a huge proponent of going on-line for stuff, but this is important and I would suggest one look up reviews of companies, the BBB and read what they say and then if they left you with someone else who just signed up, go and speak with them. When we got our roof installed, we had to watch them through the process and we would have been taken had I not had some knowledge of roofing and then asked others, but we got what we paid for. This company, nope. Perhaps 'the' company isn't so bad and why the mixed reviews but the LLC they got to get them business is not right and if you read the financial agreement it states that they make NO guarantees on rebates for anything AND they have you sign that you won't sue the financial company for being used by Top Tier. BUT, Top Tier isn't listed anywhere. In fact, the way this looks at the moment, You sign for a loan for how ever long you have it and Top Tier can disappear and you'll only have the debt. If they do come, make sure you get the panels they said you would and hopefully you're young enough to enjoy the return on this. And, remember what your folks always, always told you - especially if they were burned. If it sounds too goot to be true, it probably is. I will post more after we finish out the cancelling of this to give you a clue as to what that process will take too, but I'll post that on the Gates website. Going forward, have your phone with you when people come a-selling and take a pic of them and their car showing the license plate. That might scare them enough to realize you can't be had. I knew there was something wrong, but couldn't prove it without signing. I even know how they were planning to "use their team of Tax advisers" to get that cash flow and they would sign you up as an LLC, which is a company expected to pay taxes and can be audited and have you use that company to get a "company" rebate which households don't get. We get a whopping $600 for a couple of years and that's IT. Look it up! read more

Top Tier is an amazing company to work with. Knowledgeable Techs and great Customer service. They WILL go the extra mile for you. They also were able to correct work a previous company did, when other solar company's told us we'd have to start over. I highly recommend Top Tier. read more

I was always curious about going solar and Top Tier answered all my concerns. They come in and get right to business. Leave no trash and even cut down some trees I needed down. It was worth it just to do the trees alone. With the Xtra savings that will be used to pay off my wife's car note. It's a win-win all the way around ! Excellent value! read more

Their sales people have canvased our Appalachian neighborhood sending unprofessional young people to each door 2-3 times a week all summer long. They are usually tattooed all over their necks, chests, hands, etc, wearing either grunge style apparel or basketball shorts and Crocs. When I said I wasn't interested, he argued with me in a rude manner, telling me how wrong I was because I didn't want solar panels. I politely asked him to leave, and he continued to argue. I stopped answering his questions about why I wasn't interested, and asked him to leave again. He would not even step off of my porch, so I told him I was going to call the police because at this point he had been asked to leave, therefore he was trespassing. He told me that the police couldn't stop him from knocking on my door, and that he could stay on my porch all day and there would be nothing the police could do about it. (Not true) I then escorted him to the road without ever touching him. He said I was assaulting him by walking him off my property. I went inside and shut the door. He then stood in the street in front of my house, saying that the road was not private property and he would stay there all day if he wanted. My opinion is "Be my guest, as long as you're not at my front door speaking to me in a threatening manner". The previous day, I told one of their salesmen that I wasn't interested bc we didn't have enough direct sun in the mountains to make the return on my investment worth the cost. He told me their solar panels were different, that they only needed a few minutes of light per day, even with cloud cover, to provide full power to my 2 story, 2500 sq ft home with central air conditioning. In the wise words of Inigo Montoya, "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means." These folks have very shady sales tactics, and the people they send door to door are creepy as heck. Stay away! read more

Had problems from the start. can never get help when needed. Then the had the nerve to come to me a year after installing panels to tell me about this great deal they were going to offer me with an alarm system for security and to help prevent my panels from overheating and possible fire. then saying they knew about this when I bought them but didn't have a way to prevent or notify you until now. This should have been told to me before I bought it and spent $65k plus! My recommendation is not to do it because the cost does not outweigh the benefits! they also told me it would add 20% more value to my home. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY! We were told by two separate individuals with the company that if we decided to move, they would take the panels back and terminate our loan. We knew that we would be moving within the next year or two when we considered getting the panels and made sure to clarify with the door to door sales person as well as the contracts agent what our options were when we moved. We are now moving and top tier is forcing us to pay off our $25k loan if the new owners will not take over our contract (which NO ONE wants to because most months we actually pay more than our neighbors do with our monthly payments!). This is the biggest scam we have ever been involved in. We are honestly at the point of considering taking legal action due to the level of dishonesty this company has shown us and the financial burden they have put us in. STAY AWAY! read more

Top Tier came and knocked on our door the first week of April., April 7th. We are in Greensboro and they're a company from Charlotte. They asked if I'd be interested in installing solar and we said we'd like to hear how much it would cost. They came and spoke to us but never gave us an amount, saying it would be determined solely by what rebates the government is currently offering which was going to expire soon. We said we weren't interested now but maybe in the future. On the 23rd of April we got a notice from a bank called Sunlight Financial, they fund solar installations. There were two letters of denial for a loan, one to my 87 year old mom and one to my deceased father. I don't know 100% if this was the result of Top Tier but they had just approached us regarding solar installation and the bank Sunlight funds Solar Installation. We never said we wanted a loan or to apply for a loan and my dad is no longer living. I would be careful with anyone knocking on your door. Make sure to look up reviews and don't divulge any personal information. read more
