The park has bathrooms and benches to eat at right off the parking lot. The trail to the beach isn't paved past the look out so you will need to be able to traverse the rocky hill to get down. But there were a lot of tide pools just not with many things to look at in them. We explored the beach for about an hour with the cold wind and fog. My husband found a clam in the rocks which was cool. As we were leaving a woman was writing on the beach with a large rake. Pretty cool to see once we got back up the hillside.

No actual restrooms or water fountains.

We were unsure about the parking situation so we decided on the far end of the aquarium lot and walked to the bay from there. The out & back trail is paved most of the way, turning to gravel near the end. It's less than a mile one way, and flat and easy for anyone to enjoy. Birds are plentiful and the bay is gorgeous. We spent quite a bit of time watching all the different species enjoying the serenity of the estuary. There are a few educational signs along the way that we found useful while trying to decide what birds we were seeing. It's a lovely and quiet spot...bring your sunblock, camera, and binoculars!!

I was visiting the Newport area on a very stormy weekend, and wanted easy parking, great views, and…read moreimmediate access to the beach. After a brief search online, a few reviews pointed to Lost Creek State Park just seven miles south of Newport. I decided to give it a shot! Just off the highway, visitors will find a medium sized parking lot with space for roughly 20-25 cars. Half of the parking spaces face the ocean with only a 4 foot fence between the parking lot and the bluff below. There are great views just from the parking lot! Immediately to the left visitors will find a paved path that goes downhill to a public restroom, with a fair number of very sturdy picnic tables that line the path all the way to the beach below. This site makes for a great place to stop for a picnic and enjoy the ocean views. The path to the beach isn't very steep, however the pavement is a little bumpy due to root growth below, as well as some potholes. The park has done a pretty good job of outlining some of the bigger bumps and holes to alert folks with mobility issues. The trail is passable for wheelchairs as long as someone helps to navigate the bumps. There are many recreation sites along the coast, but if you're looking for quick and easy access to the beach at a site that might not have too many visitors, I have a hunch this is a safe bet.

From the school side the trail is essentially a down and then uphill gravel road until you come upon the water towers at the top of the ridge. At that point the path turned a smidge narrower as we made our way down to the park. A lot of shade and a decent workout with the inclines and declines in this short out & back trail. (We noticed you could make it into a loop by taking Big Creek Rd back, but ran into a LOT of dust when we encountered the first car as it turned to gravel...so back into the woods we went). The trail was pretty uneventful, not much in the way of scenery (minus our 1 snake encounter). I'd say a good way for those who live nearby to get in a quiet walk...but I wouldn't go out of my way for this trail. Always appreciate the preserved forested land though!

My fiancé and I went to escape the heat in pdx this weekend, and I found this scenic retreat just…read morenorth of Newport, and we fell in LOVE!! We got up to the entera de and paid $7 to park and walk around a whole preserved Oregon park! It was so worth it because there were very few people there (compared to any other beach we've been to north of Tillamook). We drove around, parked, and walked on some of the trails to start out. We went over to the lighthouse that's kind of stunning because it's been kept up so well. Once we got over there, I realized MY FAMILY BROUGHT ME HERE GROWING UP UNTIL I WAS OLDER!!! I got emotional and my fiancé was just so excited to be apart of where I used to travel to in the summers. The steps to get down to Cobble Beach are kind of steep - but not too bad. Probably around 200 steps to get all the way down to the charcoal stones that line the beach. If you want sand, don't come to this part of the peninsula; this cobble stone coastline is meant for people who just want to be with the sounds of nature; by that I mean sit on some of the smoothed over rocks and just LISTEN!! The stones cascade together creating an amazing sound that just humbled us. We sat on the bottom of the stairs (there's a small ledge that's right at the base kind of hidden) and just watched the waves and listened to the cobble stone clatter. There were a few seals hunting at that time right were we were sitting and they kept checking out the few people that were down on the beach. We were here for around 2 hours, and I wish we didn't have to rush up to tillamook because I would've stayed here probably until sunset. Hands down beautiful, and we are going to be back within the next month or so

Every year since 2013, our extended family and close friends come to Waldport, Oregon for a fun…read morefamily crabbing vacation! We've always used McKinley's Marina in Alsea Bay for our crabbing boats and crab pots. The staff is professional, helpful and could not be nicer!!!! When we arrive at our scheduled time, they are ready to kit us out with lifejackets, crabbing boats & crab pots. The boats are fitted with a pulley to help haul in the pots full of Dungeness crab! You need to bring the bait with you (we use raw chicken quarters.) Each boat has room for up to 4 adults (and a couple of kiddos if necessary). We head out just before high tide. It's so much fun! When we get back to the dock, the staff check our crab to make sure we have legal size males (only) and they prep it and steam it right there at the docks. They even have picnic tables for us to feast on our fresh catch. He brought us 2 fresh crabs all cooked and ready to eat! We will certainly come back and enjoy the view and hospitality. Clean restrooms and laundry room. We walked to the best little bakery across the bridge...delicious! Town is just over the bridge if you have a need. Took nice drives to view the different beauty. Not too pricey either
