I would recommend it if you have children and dogs who hunt and aren't afraid of gun fire. This is a great campground for families. It is just the right size and has lots of activities for kids. I stayed here because my friends have a summer spot. My neighbors smoked, the others had loud music, and there is a firing range close by. My dog is terrified. We managed, of course! She had her safe spot with me in our tiny camper. Everyone was really nice. The staff were so kind. There are lots of trails in the area for hiking or you can just stay at the campground and swim, either in the pool or in the pond. They offer bike, kayak, and other rentals. There is a large rec area and a small store. The sites are clean and spacious. We enjoyed the Bark Park! I booked late - I think had I known I was going to camp this weekend and booked earlier - I could have booked a spot further away from all the action. That being said - the firing range is still a big deterrent for me because of my beloved dog. So if you want a nice place for your kids and don't mind the firing every night and all day Sunday - this is the spot for you! read more

Beaver Dam Campground is exactly what it is. A beautiful small Maine campground on a small beaver dammed pond. The 2 woman owners are super nice, laid back and meticulous with the care of the property. The property is SUPER CLEAN. Not one cigarette butt, bottle cap, or any piece of trash to be seen. Each site is groomed, raked, fire pit cleaned out and ready for each camper. The pond has a small beach for swimming and picnicking. The water is warm, however brackish. The is also a pool. Pets are welcomed but mush be leashed. There is a small store, game room, pet off leash area, kayaks and boats, playground, volleyball, very clean bathhouse, and more. Very safe for all people and very diverse which is why were chose this campground. Close to the seacoast (20 minutes) and beautiful farm country. read more

Worst camping trip ! From the horrible sites, customer service and smell. We left a day early!

Great campground. We stayed at a tent site as we had not registered our pop up camper. Site was clean and spacious. Staff at every event and in the office was friendly. Even though it was a rainy memorial day weekend they made changes to activities for everyone. My youngest enjoyed feeding the animals and playing candy bar bingo. Laundry room and restrooms were very clean. Seasonal campers were friendly. Def recommend and we hope to return. read more

I wouldn't base this review off of the entire campground. This is more of a management/customer service issue. The lady and I over the phone had a misunderstanding. When I first called to make a reservation for 2 adults it was easy and no trouble she asked for half of my payment. But when I called the day of my check in The lady over the phone asked if we are adults over the age of 21... which I said no I'm 20. And she said that we are not allowed to stay of a family campground unless we are adults over the age of 21. And I tried to explain to her the website, registration quote and my email it said "# of Adults (18+): 2" She would not let me speak she kept interrupting me and being really rude to where a couple of times I said "Excuse me mam, I'm sorry im talking, but I'm trying to explain to you" and her response was yelling over me "AND THIS IS WHY WE DONT ALLOW KIDS UNDER 21" So at that I asked how can we fix this then because now I paid half which idk why y'all didn't think to ask me before payment..... and she offered a full refund and it's been 3 days and I still haven't gotten a phone call, email nor refund. Nice campground. The campground is located in a small town setting, but off of a main road (RT9)., although it was very quiet and we did not hear any traffic at any point in our stay, other than one or two large motorcycles. One word of caution, when approaching from a north to south direction, you could miss the entrance as it is not well marked, but it is fine from the opposite direction. We missed the turn. Check in was easy and staff very friendly. Our site was# 40 and it was just wooded enough to our liking and had the good water, 30 Amp electric hook ups for our RV. Very, very clean campground and lots of activities posted for kids. During our stay there was a western themed weekend, but we never saw any activity, other than a few kids wearing some cowboy hats. My guess is it was more geared towards the children. If you have a dog, they are very strict about not letting it bark for hours on end. We had no issue with our medium dog and appreciated the pet friendly atmosphere, especially the bark park. There was a few issues with an adjacent lot who moved in during our second night. Because I wanted a good nights sleep, I finally went down to the office and mentioned the issues. I must say, I was impressed with their responsiveness as I had not even returned back to the site before and it was all resolved. Will be going back. read more

The female who answered the phone has horrible customer service skills and was simply rude and condescending. Made me feel like she was inconvenienced in answering the simplest of questions. Decided not to book based on that alone. There are plenty of other places that I can choose for my camping trip in the state of Maine. read more

We (2adults, 2 small dogs) stayed at this campground for the first time on 6/23/17 in a 30' trailer. Pros: very clean and well maintained. Newly remodeled bath house with free showers. Quiet, friendly, the sites on the pond look very inviting. Activities for the young un's. Boats and bikes available to rent. A swim front on the pond and a small pool. Cons: only 3 stars because of our particular tastes in campgrounds. Some sites have privacy, but because we never stayed here before we got a site that was very crowded and only one small tree. We felt like we had to almost mute our movie and just read subtitles; that's how close we were to our neighbors. The campground is very dog friendly but the little dog park is not maintained and my dog (18lbs) could easily slip under the fence. The grounds are extremely small and no extra places to walk, or play ball, with your dog. If you don't mind small and you get a pond or a stream site you'll be happy here! read more

If you're looking for peace and quiet this is the place. Now, we didn't stay a full weekend, checked in on a Sunday and out on a Saturday, so we can't say anything about weekend activities. This is a small campground with only 60 sites, some close together, we were fortunate to have one of the best sites if not the best, in our opinion. We were in site 27, waterfront with a nice few of the pond, away from the center of the campground so noise was very minimal. The water front sites 1 - 13 are nice, but right across for the tent area and restrooms, close to the pool, play area and miniature golf, so noise level could be a little more than peaceful. Sites 23 through 28 are the best choices, seemingly more spacious and quiet. Our site 27 seems to be the largest as it's on a bend in the road. Highly suggest requesting site 27. Pros Small campground, limited seasonal campers, not over crowded. Even near capacity we saw on Friday didn't seem "crowded" Clean restrooms, closed daily for cleaning Quiet, peaceful - very quiet after 10 pm through 8 am. Far enough away from the coastal congestion close enough to visit the coast - 28 - 35 mins. Level lots, most with gravel parking area, grass surrounding Waterfront sites have fire pits next to pond, away from road. Very clean grounds, numerous trash cans every couple sites, picked up daily. As soon as someone checks out, they clean up the fire pit, rake the stones and check the grass areas for trash, even the smallest of pieces. Sleeping to the sounds of frogs across the pond Various wild life - chipmunks, turtles, grey herons, woodpeckers and other bird species and bats (love them for eating those pesky insects!) Cons Pay showers - $.25 per 6 mins, not an issue, I understand the reasoning behind pay showers, but the water pressure was minimal, basically terrible. I'd rather see nice shower head with a water aerator or pay more for a shower. On top of the pressure issue, I had hot water my 1st day around 11:15 am, right after they cleaned the bathrooms. The next day, showered at 5 pm, had no hot water and there weren't a lot, if any, other persons taking a shower, the one I got into was dry. Temp felt the same as coming out of the site's ground faucet. My guess is the water heater is turned down or off mid day to save energy which in turn saves money. I know it's only a quarter, but I hate paying for something I don't receive. Mid week during the day, there seemed to be a company picnic playing games with a loud speaker. Thankfully where we were we couldn't hear them, but for the sites closer to the pool I imagine it would be annoying, breaking that peace and quiet you might be seeking. Bathroom sink faucets do not stay on, need to hold them on. Again, understanding the need to save water but try to wash your face with continually having to hold the water on. I'd rather see low water pressure in the sink then holding it on. Actually the sink faucets had more water pressure than the shower. Shower directions not too clear. For example, the directions state to turn the dial to start, then insert coin and turn past start till you hear the coin drop, then back past start to on, but which way? And with all my showers, never heard the coin drop. I started writing this the day after we arrived. It's now Friday, 6 days after check in and the "locals/seasonal" are coming in. The grounds are filling up.Two sites from us, site 29 a loud mouth obnoxious guy talking, with raised voice, to his wife about a kid who threw a rock at his or someone's house. Not sure how long ago it happened but he just wouldn't let it go, and the "F" word and "S" word were flying. There goes the peace and quiet. But as the day progressed they didn't stay. It seems they leave their RV at the site, use the pool and leave. The guy did come twice during the week for about 20 mins, I guess to check on things. Definitely could have done without his loud mouth on Sat. afternoon. Would we return, yes, if we could get a site within 23 - 28, can't beat the tranquility. It's definitely a campground the owners take pride in keeping clean. read more

Worst experience camping and I would never recommend this place to anyone. I was never told I had to arrive before 8pm, which is apparently the cut off time since the crazy extremely rude owners refused to let us in. It's not my fault we had car troubles and got there a little late. Then they wouldn't give me a refund because a friend checked into my site which was in my name. So how was this my fault that the staff had someone check in without checking an id? I couldn't even get a word in to try and discuss this with the owner. Rudest staff ever. Never heard of not being able to set a tent up after 8pm! Our friends that did stay had an even worse time and was kicked out at 4pm the next day. The owners said they had to leave because they were playing music throughout the day and disturbed other campers while blowing up an air mattress at 2am. This campground is very strict, small, campsites are on top of each other, and the owners are impossible to talk to. read more

I got stationed back home in Maine after being in California. My wife and I stayed here for a month (initially) while we were closing on our house. Things came up on the house.. The appraiser kept postponing his day to appraise the house so we could close. Therefore our "1 month" stay turned into 2 months. We kept extending our stay and they were very helpful with everything. Once we had to extend our stay and the entire campground was booked. Busy weekend. They MADE us a spot that usually isn't rented out, just so that we could stay. I am nothing but pleased, the people are very great people and willing to help. They even assisted us with moving campsites because we didn't have a truck. Plus the lake is beautiful. read more

Worst camping trip I've ever been on! We were scheduled to stay three nights and only lasted to 2 because we were so miserable ! Besides the minuscule "lake" or river is more like it being dirty and covered with lilly pads, the dirty bathrooms to which I actually found a pair. Bloody panties in! Nothing is as bad as the nasty owners. This place is run by two woman to which were on our back from the time we arrived until the time we anxiously left. The first 15 minutes we there, we were told we had to move our vehicles to the parking lot, to which we complied. We were informed the first night we had 7 noise complaints about us. Their "quiet" time is at 10:00pm. At 10:05 we were told to shut our music off and quiet down. We did exactly as we were told. Please keep in mind we were camping with small children, we were not there to do anything but spend time as families together. The sites are right on top of each other and very small. We did ask several of our neighbors If we were a disturbance and learned we were fine, that it was the elderly couple to whom are "friends" with the owners that were the complainers. That next morning we decided to brush it off and enjoy our day. At one ponit in the day, our friendly yellow lab was playing frisbee only for a few minutes, when a older woman walked by with her small dog and screamed at us to put our dog on a leash or we could be thrown out. We immediately put our dog on his leash and kept him on it for the rest of our stay. Later on in the day, I came back from the park with my children and my husband told me management had yelled at him about the dog not being on a leash. I assure you our dog remained on his leash since the comments earlier in the day. Every move we made, there was the owners keeping tabs on us. We all decided as a group we were not happy at this campground and agreed to try and get a refund for the last night and just leave a day early. The owners agreed to this and promised us a refund but we had to wait until morning. This of course led us to believe we were never getting a refund. That night after quiet time, we were sitting quietly by the fire when I see 3 police cruisers at our site! I knew this was of course for us and could t even imagine what silly rule we broke now. After a few moments of them sitting there, one of the owners stormed over with the officers and started swearing and screaming in our male friends face. She was accusing him of saying he was going to "kick her husbands a**" and she threatened she would "kick his a**" she was pointing her finger in his face and basically assaulted him. No one knew what she was talking about. I made a comment I was sick of this place and didn't want to be there. She screamed at me, saying "you can forget about your fu****g refund!" Luckily the officers sided with us and we were told just to put the Fire out and go to bed. We did exactly this. One of the officers gave our friend his card and informed him if he wanted to he could press charges. We couldn't wait to get out of there! We left first thing in the morning and were told we would not be getting our refund. Big surprise! This is the most white trash campground I ever been to. If you are looking for a nightmare or possibly an arrest , then this is your place. I can only wish you luck if you decide to stay here. I work in a prison and give/get more respect than these people! read more

My family paid $360 to camp here from Friday till Monday and it was the worst camp ground I have ever been to. We stayed 2 nights and were so sick of being harassed that we left, the owners refused to give us a refund for our last night so we ended up losing $120. The owners were 2 nasty, unprofessional ladies. We were harassed by these woman from the moment we got there. The first day we were yelled at for our dogs not being on leashes, they are very well behaved dogs and we're off their leash for a few minutes playing frisbee and when someone told us they needed to be on leashes we immediately complied. The next time we were yelled at they told us they got several complaints about us being too loud after "quiet time" which is 10. We have respect for other people so we tried to be as quiet as it is possible having 9 adults and a dozen small children but also wanted to have fun since we were on vacation and work very hard throughout the week. the third time we were yelled at for being too loud it was 10:05.....5 minutes after quiet time one of the owners came over screaming and assaulted my friends boyfriend. She screamed in his face, spitting, swearing, telling him to hit her (which he would never hit a woman even if she was acting like a lunatic). They called the cops on us and the cops ended up siding with us because we had done nothing wrong. Our children witnessed the whole thing and were scared and crying because the police were there.The woman told us they wished we would leave even though we had let them know we had all had a few drinks and didn't feel comfortable driving. We left first thing in the morning. Our children were all very upset that we had to leave. The woman drove by in their pickup staring at us the whole time. On top of all of this the sites were very small and crowded, the pool was tiny, and the bathrooms/showers weren't the cleanest I've seen (my aunt found a bloody pair of panties in the bathroom while showering). I will most deffinetly NEVER in my life go back to this place and recommend anyone looking to enjoy their vacation without being watched and harassed to stay away also!
