This place is great, amazing Happy Hours, friendly Staff, and quiet Environment! Lots of tables for card games, board games and a drink :-)

Pull tabs too if you're so inclined!

Ok, the Beav is a dive with cheap beer and drinks, fried food and not much else (pool tables here though!) This is a 4 star establishment for exceeding expectations on most levels. Service is great and the vibe is fun and relaxed. Just a nice place to have a drink with the friendly drinking locals!

In a city that is flooded with hipster bars this place is where you can get a strong drink and be left alone.

We don't go out much, but when we do we usually stop here. It was actually a really slow night, which was kind of nice since it's normally packed. I told the bartender I was going to the bathroom and my boyfriend walked in with me. We were in there for maybe a minute or two. Only I used the restroom and nothing weird or inappropriate happened. When I came back out, the bartender gave me the most disgusted look and said something like, "Really? You guys went into a single stall bathroom together? Really?" I was honestly confused and immediately apologized and said I didn't know that wasn't allowed. Instead of just explaining it, she responded with, "How do you not know that? That's common sense?" and then implied it was a drug or sex thing. I genuinely did not know that, and there were no signs posted saying only one person was allowed in the bathroom (that I saw). I've also been coming here for years and have never been talked to about this before. The way she handled it felt super rude and embarrassing. A simple "Hey, just so you know, that's not allowed here" would have been totally fine. She then said she could still serve us, but by that point I felt really uncomfortable. I apologized for the drink she had already made and said we were going to head somewhere else. Her response was a very rude "Okay, bye!" I've worked in food service for 5 years and I would never talk to a customer like that, especially when they clearly didn't know they were doing anything wrong. The whole interaction completely killed the vibe and honestly ruined our night. I even emailed the owner twice over the past week because I didn't want to leave a bad review without giving them a chance to respond, but I never heard back.

Upon entering ( at 4:30pm), I was struck by how many people were there; it was almost full. We were quickly greeted by Mikey (aka; "Yonzo"). Very friendly, very helpful. We received our drinks promptly and ordered food. The fish & chips were generous and tasty. The breading was unusual, but was again, tasty. I couldn't determine what it was, but I would order it again. The bowl of clam chowder was very generous and again "unusual". Plenty of clams and thyme. I would order it again. I went to the bar to request another beer and buy some pull tabs. I noticed the wall of pull tabs was entirely covered with Christmas decorations. When asked, Yonzo informed me that the new owner had not yet completed the process to offer pull tabs. Apparently, a new owner arrived in April of this year (2024). It was interesting to note that the entire place looked to be cleaner, with a very upbeat and friendly atmosphere. In all, we enjoyed the food and had a great time in the "new" tavern. We will be back. After all, this tavern is a piece of Bellingham's history.

It is fair to say, the incident is not a reflection of the ownership or of the experience they are working to create. I trust they will hold the employee in question accountable. ---------- Last night I came into Rumors with friends who all were buying drinks and enjoying one another at the bar. I did not have anything to drink at your bar. One of the women in my party brought me over a cheap little pride flag and put it in my hand, so I took it and held it. The next thing I know, I hear some one yell hey, as I turn I see your bartender/manager that night throw something at me and hit me in my chest. I turn around completely stunned that someone in your staff thought it appropriate to throw items at patrons. The bartender/manager accused me of stealing the flag from her register. I told her that I didn't steal anything, someone gave it to me. I returned it to her and told her do not ever throw anything at me ever again under any circumstances. I was calm but livid at the actions of your staff. I am 43 yo, a former Air Force Officer, an Entreprenuer, the President of a nonprofit organization, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I don't take kindly to having trash thrown at me. Your bartender doubled down and said she considers taking the flag stealing, and I told her that she was talking to the wrong person, because I didn't take it. To keep myself calm I decide to turn away from the situation, and your bartender/Manager yells at me to look at her as if I am her child, or some slave required to do what my master has commanded me. So now I'm wondering if the reason she felt comfortable throwing trash at me me is because I'm Black and she doesn't respect Black people. I let my group know I don't want to be at this bar anymore, and they also agree they do not want to be at the bar. I begin walking toward the door, while the women I'm with finish their drinks and put their coats on. One of the women with me tells the bartender/manager that she was making very interesting choices of treating a group of people that were taking very good care of her. As they are having this conversation, I walk to the doorman and ask for the manager to find out the bartender who threw trash at me was the manager. So I ask for the owner's number as I told him what happened. He laughed when he heard and I asked him if he thought throwing trash at patrons was funny. He said he did not. He pulled out a piece of paper saying this is what we give people that are kicked out. By this time my group is all at the door and waiting for me to get the information. I do not take the piece of paper because we aren't getting kicked out, we are leaving, and I want to report this behavior. The bartender manager comes over, admits to throwing trash at me, and then says we have to get out because we're being divas. So she throws trash at me, my group decided to leave and get management's information on the way out, and she runs up behind us and tries to kick us out on our way out the bar. This is complete unacceptable, and I hope not something completely indicative of the culture of your bar. The door man did follow us out and apologized profusely for the incident. I'd like to speak with the owner about this so that we can de-escalate this situation. Justice Cālo Reign Board President, Invest Attention Media & Entertainment

Fun, lively place with great food…read more We showed up at 5 on a Sunday and the place was already almost full - we were seated at the bar and then moved to a table. Both seating options were nice and allowed us to be around people while still being able to hear our dining companions. Extensive cocktail menu of well crafted and interesting cocktails. A mocktail menu of equally well crafted cocktails is also available upon request. We tried a variety of flavorful dishes. The hot noodles are particularly delicious - a comfort food like dish that is spicy and satisfying and plentiful. The crispy salt and pepper tofu is also delicious - a satisfying crunch and a soft inside. We also tried the crispy eggplant bao which I probably wouldn't get again, but it was definitely pretty and hardy. I'd definitely go by again next time I'm in Bellingham!
