This is a dive bar, and I love a dive bar. No pretentious, BS, cold beer and hot food. I stopped here a couple years ago because they were one of the few places serving food late in the evening, and now I come every time I'm in town. This is a must stop in Bellingham in my opinion.

Finally a great seafood restaurant in Bellingham. This sophisticated and upscale seafood bistro/tavern has fantastic ambience and friendly service. The food was easily the best seafood we've had in Bellingham. Be sure to dress up and bring your appetite. I had the captain's platter and it did not disappoint. Waterfront is an ideal seafood experience for the whole family.

    Limp, sad, soggy french fry.

Get the worse seafood than if you were in Kazakhstan. Tiny portions. Not made there. That crap is just Shamrock or Cisco frozen truck crap. And small portions for the price. The fries are limp and taste like the weird part of the inside of a fresh potato skin when it arrives at the table. More importantly, there is an option to tip on the check. Traditionally, tipping is for table service. There is no table service. Go to the bar and ask for a menu and beer. Sit down, no one shows up to take the order, then 30 minutes later, go to the other counter, order your nasty over priced crap from the unfriendly help behind the counter, then ask for a beer, then she says to go to the bar, wait at bar for warm beer, remind them that you have a table. Take your beer to table and eat food. Then when the food makes you sick, get up and go to the bar, tell them everything you ordered, skip the tip option and leave. Then speed home to the bathroom as fast as you can. The coleslaw was clearly not made in-house but seemed somewhat average. No complaints there. Loved the atmosphere! Salmon were swimming outside the window and sea-lions hunting them. Great vibe. Shit food. No service. Go there for warm beer and cool people. Good looking seafood outside the window, commercial frozen and rubbery crap on the menu.

I've been coming here for about 3 years now and have literally never had an issue until last week…read more My partner and I went out last Thursday for a low key date night. We don't go out much, but when we do we usually stop here. It was actually a really slow night, which was kind of nice since it's normally packed. I told the bartender I was going to the bathroom and my boyfriend walked in with me. We were in there for maybe a minute or two. Only I used the restroom and nothing weird or inappropriate happened. When I came back out, the bartender gave me the most disgusted look and said something like, "Really? You guys went into a single stall bathroom together? Really?" I was honestly confused and immediately apologized and said I didn't know that wasn't allowed. Instead of just explaining it, she responded with, "How do you not know that? That's common sense?" and then implied it was a drug or sex thing. I genuinely did not know that, and there were no signs posted saying only one person was allowed in the bathroom (that I saw). I've also been coming here for years and have never been talked to about this before. The way she handled it felt super rude and embarrassing. A simple "Hey, just so you know, that's not allowed here" would have been totally fine. She then said she could still serve us, but by that point I felt really uncomfortable. I apologized for the drink she had already made and said we were going to head somewhere else. Her response was a very rude "Okay, bye!" I've worked in food service for 5 years and I would never talk to a customer like that, especially when they clearly didn't know they were doing anything wrong. The whole interaction completely killed the vibe and honestly ruined our night. I even emailed the owner twice over the past week because I didn't want to leave a bad review without giving them a chance to respond, but I never heard back.

Wonderful food and drinks. I started with oyster shooters (Willapa Bay) along with a Lion's Tail cocktail. Sierra said the bourbon and lime complement each other. I wouldn't have thought so and thought it a bit of an odd choice. But she was right and I was wrong: it was fabulous. One of the most delicious drinks I've ever had, for my tastes. She gave me several recommendations for dinner. I picked the Jalapeño Chicken. It was luscious and flavorful, but the best part of it was my choice of Balsamic Brussels sprouts as my side--oh my! These were so delicious I ordered two more batches to have at home. Lovely espresso martini to end it all.

We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess at a table in DT Fairhaven, and our server was the bartender. After being seated, we waited a long time without anyone taking our order. We eventually asked if we had a server and were told it was him, with no apology or explanation. We ordered drinks and food, but after more than 40 minutes, we noticed two tables seated after us had already been served, finished eating, and were leaving. At that point, we asked for the check and said we would not be staying. About 15 minutes later, the server returned with our food instead of the check. We declined the meal and sent it back. He then asked if we wanted it boxed to go, which we also declined. His reaction suggested frustration rather than understanding. We never got to try the food, so we can't comment on it. The service, however, was well below expectations given the restaurant's reputation. This was lunch on July 15, 2026. We may try The Black Cat again in the future, hoping this was just an off day.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!

We came in for an early dinner so we were really able to enjoy the rustic ambience of this restaurant all by ourselves. As soon as we sat down the waitress was attentive and ready to take our order. I order the garden party off their cocktail menu. Snap pea gin, bay leaf vermouth, genepy, saline and pea shoot? I really was feeling adventurous with this one, a regrettable mistake. The first sip I thought I was drinking sea water with a touch of olive oil in it. I never send back drinks although I was close with this one, I sipped it throughout my meal. One critique I have about the cocktail menu is that every drink was over complicated with many exotic ingredients. There was nothing for someone who was looking for a simple craft cocktail. The table shared the Strawberry Panzanella, and once again I was accosted by an overwhelming salty and sour flavor. A traditional Italian salad consisting of grilled strawberry and focaccia croutons. The lemon vinaigrette dressing on this salad was salty and sour, and very overpowering. Unlike my drink we were unable to finish this one. I ordered the Roe Burger, which I had been really looking forward to trying, thankfully this one did not disappoint. Two smash burger patties that were thin, crispy, and cooked to perfection with slices of cheddar cheese on top are then placed on a bed of classic burger toppings. Tomato, pickles, and iceberg lettuce. This burger was served with crispy fries and garlic aioli. After my fist few bites my mind was beginning to change about this restaurant. We also shared the Reuben Croquettes. A super creative and unique spin on one of my personal favorite appetizers. These little fried pocket were filled with a delicious mixture of cheese and shredded corned beef. They were garnished with a small slice of pickle which was a great touch. For dessert we decided to try the hazelnut torte which was fantastic. It had a nice crisp outer layer with a soft gooey center. Lovely flavor and texture that ended our experience at Roe wonderfully. In conclusion our experience at Roe had its ups and downs but I left feeling satisfied. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience I would give this restaurant a try.
