The Beaver Island lodge is a gem! The rooms are clean and they come with a seating area, a kitchenette and a balcony. The towels may be a bit scratchy & the hot water smells of iron, but this is an island lodge and not the Ritz. Plus, The Lodge is close to town & they have bikes which makes it easy to get anywhere. The restaurant was a total surprise - kudos to the chef, because the food was well prepared and delicious. The waiter Javeik, who is from from Jamaica, is a great guy and an excellent server. John (Johaan) is the manager and is incredible. He picked us up at the boat dock and took us back when it came time to leave. If you're planning a trip to Beaver Island, try to get a room at the Beaver Island Lodge. And have fun!! read more

Best place to stay on the island in our opinion. Rented the Sunset Cottage this time and it was wonderful. Cute little place, more than enough room for the four of us. Wonderful little sun porch for morning coffee and access to your own private beach area. Will definitely stay here again. read more

This was our first visit to Beaver Island and we will be back. There is new management at the Lodge and they are very good. Everything was clean, beds are comfortable, views are fantastic! They are very accommodating, picked us up at the ferry, and very helpful. The rooms have efficiency kitchens, we did not bring cereal or anything to snack on and I think I would recommend the lodge perhaps offer or have some things available. There are places to walk but they are not next door. Beaver Island is very laid back so be ready to relax! read more

Shocked at the restaurants response to covid. No distancing. Treated poorly for requesting a safe spot outside on a beautiful night. Left when denied. If you're smart, don't go here during covid. It's a cesspool. read more

Major disappoitment! We have been here before, but this time was a big FAIL. Shrimp special was bitter, lamb was strongly vinegar tasting, and the "risotto" was just rice...not creamy risotto at all. This place was fantastic! We went on a Monday night and were the only people there that night. The pork belly was excellent as was the sixteen spice chicken. The did not offer prime rib but the salads and desserts were very good. Highly recommended for a nice dinner night. read more

It's the best place on Beaver Island and they take a lovely lake view lodge with a good menu and put it all together. White Fish is something that I always order up North and this one came with a Macadamea Nut crust and was very nicely prepared and presented. They also make a very good Ceasar. It is a large step up from the bars sandwich shops that populate the island. The have a very pleasant bar with an equally nice view. It's worth a nice pair of slacks in the travel bag to go here. Everyone in our group of five was happy with their dinners...the Halibut special was spot on. read more

Maybe it was a bad night for the lodge, but my dinner was horrible. Monday on Labor Day, I took my parents to dinner. I ordered the spicy chicken. It was two small pieces of chicken, possibly breast, on top of asparagus that was either cocked yesterday or the day before on top of a mound of cold taste list mash potatoes. When I go out to eat, I want to taste a professional's work. I have had better left over's that were a week old that I have cooked. This is got to be the worst food in Beaver Island. Eat some were else and enjoy the view, which is great, with some drinks. read more

I really wanted to like it. The view from our room was amazing. The room itself was OK. We knew ahead of time that there wasn't' a TV, but there wasn't even a radio either. The clock radio wasn't set. The refrigerator wasn't plugged in..so we put in our drinks only to find them warm 3 hours later. We couldn't find anyone during the day when we needed some towels. One of our lights burnt out, the bathroom fan didn't work. They have something going on where you can't get a beer from the adjoining restaurant and bring up to your room. Not sure why. We got the 3rd degree for carrying a beer from our room outside. Truly, reading this list...it was all small stuff all weekend, but it added up. is what really disappointed us. But we paid $135 a night for a room, without ANY service. I finally got my towels, after I took my shower and used my wet towels. I wonder who you were supposed to call if there was an emergency? Because we couldn't' find ANYONE working there during the day. If the room was $70 a night...OK. but we paid a lot of money for just a a room. read more
