Its central location makes it easy to walk to several great restaurants nearby, which is a big plus. Also the views of the lake are spectacular, on the night we were there we were able to view the fireworks from our porch. The hospitality here is always warm and genuine, and the rooms in the hotel section are consistently clean and comfortable. Unfortunately one of them had to come clean our room that had been reserved 3 weeks prior to our arrival. When I checked out on July 6th the woman in glasses sitting in the front office looked up from her reading when I told her room ### checking out she said ok and went back to reading. I have stayed in some shady hotels and 5 star hotels yet this is first time not being inquired about the stay. Yes that would not have changed my mind about returning it just affirmed lacking this simple gesture is the negative that breeds more negativity in any working environment.

They have mini fridges and microwaves as well as a nice tv with a good amount of channels. The location was fantastic, very close to downtown and the freeway and right across from the lake. We walked across the street several times to grab snacks at a fudge shop and breakfast at a restaurant and ate right on the beach. The service was wonderful. Our kids locked the bathroom door from the inside and they promptly helped us fix it. We were able to get some good recommendations about things to do or places to go. It was a nice, clean spot for us to rest our heads at night.

But they're friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They were a perfect waypoint for us on our trip through the Upper Peninsula. Looking over the website prior to calling for availability, they're up front about their pet policy. They state that they'll accept pets depending on size, breed, and temperament for a $10 up charge. The owner came out and met our 70 pound labradoodle and after a minute was very welcoming. Not sure if we could have brought one much bigger, but ours is gentle and affectionate, so I imagine the combination of big but soft tempered was good enough. At any rate, I'd happily spend a night here again. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

From our hotel room, we could see people walking and biking around the streets, we could hear the clip-clop of the horse hooves on the cobblestones, we could smell the fudge from all of the fudge stores nearby. Chippewa Hotel is located in downtown Mackinac, and you can really get a feel for the island from this hotel. We visited around Halloween, and the hotel was decked out in decorations. It was very cute, and I feel like they might have gone all out because we were there the weekend before the island shuts down to tourists, so they really put their foot in it, so to speak. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy, but it's "vintage," meaning that some of the fixtures and furniture look like they're straight out of the early 1980s. But it all looks intentional. Everything in the hotel is purposefully placed, so you get an antique vibe but without a touch of disarray. One of the things that I appreciated about the rooms here is that the windows open! I love a hotel room that can receive fresh air. Another thing that I love: They service your room without you even having to ask! And they arrange any stuffed animals on the bed just so. Plus, they offer turn-down serve complimentary! You get a little chocolate on your pillow. They go the extra mile here. Outside, they have a gigantic heated hot tub. This thing is like a small pool! It's open all season. My hot-tub-loving youngest child requested that we visit the hot tub multiple times per day. Chippewa Hotel is attached to The Pink Pony, a bar and restaurant. It's downstairs, literally just steps away.
