One of the perks of living in the neighborhood is the Beaver Lake Dog Park. It is fully fenced and has large-dog and small-dog separate areas. The large dog park is thickly covered in wood chips in the open areas, and the back 1/3 side is heavily shaded by trees and easily walkable for those hot full sun days and for good 'texture'. If you have one of those ball throw tools, you're not going to run out of distance with your best throw. The small dog side is slightly smaller and features a gravel/dirt and grass field. There are some passages into a small stand of trees/bushes. Doggie water fountains and pooper scooper bags available in each section. There are well established wooded trails to either side which lead to the lakefront section of the park: about a half mile round trip. The people are friendly and dog conflicts rare. (Personal hint: if you have a troublesome dog, put a muzzle on them before taking them out in public or to any park: the dog really won't mind. You can always remove it). On-site parking is good except for the rare little league tournaments, as the 3 ballfields and well-appointed playground share the park/parking. There's even street overflow parking. I love the setup here. SMALL DOG AREA- Took a 5 month, 10lbs puppy to the small dog area and he had more than enough space to run and play. I liked the wooded shady trails and the lush grassy corners within the area. The rest is dirt with some rocks. It was a sunny day so the ground was dry and fairly pristine. LARGE DOG AREA- After 20 minutes, he was very interested in the large dog area. He's a small pup with lots of confidence and a huge personality. So, we gave it a try and he had a blast! The dogs here today were friendly and well socialized. The owners were also very attentive to theirs and friendly (but not overly chatty which I appreciate). The large dog area is twice as big as the small dog space. Good amount of shady trails. This area is mostly wood chips (no dirt or grass). All in all, very clean and well-kept. The drinking station was functioning and also clean. From the main parking lot, take the right-most trail to the dog area. It curves around the baseball field. This path has grass for dogs to sniff and do their thing. Or walk between the baseball fields, which seemed to be the fastest approach, but it's entirely paved (no spots for potty breaks). There are water stations and poop bags avail. Within each area, only two benches for folks to sit. If you like to bring a bag, suggest wearing a backpack. read more

Visited for the first time and throughly enjoyed the fully-fenced dog park for our small dog! There is a side for large dogs and a side for small dogs. We chose to let our dog run on the large dog side as there were more dogs for ours to socialize with and more space for him to run. Barked & wooded. All owners were masked and socially distanced and their dogs were friendly towards other dogs regardless of size. Only complaint was that not everyone picks up their dog's poop, so we had to watch where we stepped and it could be hard to see in the bark. Good, well-maintained trail network to walk around as well - we made a large loop that passes through the woods by the lodge and comes back around by the other side of the dog park. Parking near the baseball fields is the closest entrance to the dog park but you can also park near the Beaver Lake Lodge and walk in along the trail. read more

I have been on a quest to check out local dog parks. . Based on reviews, I have to admit that I expected a little more. Don't get me wrong. This place was really nice, clean and the people and pets were all super friendly. If every city had a park like this, we would have a lot of happy pets. Bellevue has Robinswood and I like it because all dogs play together regardless of size. Regardless of what you think, dogs needs to be socialized and keeping dogs segregated leads to behavior issues. Renton has Cedar River, It's a huge park, but poorly groomed and kept. Redmond has Marymore, but be prepared to pay to park. Also, it's a large trail system, so no real place for dogs to play here. Personally, I'd love to give this place 3.5 stars. I'm a fan, but the place is really just ok. It's the perfect park if you live in the area, but it's not a destination location. I'm glad I saw it, but don't think I would return unless I was invited by someone that lives in the area. read more

Really nice dog park. There is a great trail behind the park that goes by the lake. The trees Back there are gorgeous and there is a long way to go on the trail and a shorter route. There's a section for smaller Dogs and a part for larger dogs. read more

One of our favorite parks! One of our dogs likes to socialize and run around, the other likes to sniff around and keep to himself, and this park works for both. There is a large, well maintained field area that gives plenty of space for dogs to play. The back half is forested so dogs can explore in a more quiet secluded area. read more

I am not the first one to review the off leash but people have written their report under the general Beaver Lake area. This is strictly about the off leash area. At the time, I went- I parked at the park's main parking lot. I took a path that people pointed to me to take to get to the off leash area. People also said there is a parking lot by the off leash area (off of 244th). This place is great for throwing balls/ dog toys for your dog. They do have a water fountain for the people and a shorter water fountain for the dogs. The trees are to the side closer to the woods and do not really provide shade. I would suggest to take your dog here first before walking around the park- this way your dog is little tired and more attentive to you during the walk. read more

Nice park, even though it's small. The trails around Beaver Lake make for nice walks before visiting the park and the park itself has a nice wooded area for dogs to walk around off leash, as well as a large open area that is covered in bark. It would get four stars if it was a little bigger and the dog owners were a tad bit more responsible. My GSD has been bullied more here than all other dog parks combined and I've had to break up three fights while the owners of the other dog stood idly by watching. read more

Park is ok size. The wooded area is a nice feature. But people do not pick up the poo here. I went for the first time this week and was poo everywhere. I get the some of teh areas in the wooded part as difficult to get to, but the open areas? Come on folks. They had plenty of poo bags to use. There are two areas, clearly marked for small dogs and all dogs. Please if you bring in a small dog that wants to attack the big dogs that is just as irresponsible as if it was a large dog; and will probably change the peace of the park. Don't get upset if you dog gets corrected by the big dogs, it's your dogs fault! It gets very wet and there are mud puddles (so expect to get dirty). There are water fountains but the water was turned off, not sure why. So bring water and a dish. There is a short walk to the dog area from the parking lot, which I saw a few folks had their dogs off leash on this walk....before the actual off leash area. There was also an older man with a Doberman that stood at the gate even when his dog was out of his sight. He never corrected his dog, who was biting and dominating other dogs on the far side of the park; to the point it made one dog become aggressive with all dogs (when he wasn't before) so that owner left the park :( (If you are that gal reading this please don't be sacred to bring your dogs back and try another day). I ended up correcting the Doberman a few times...as was enough already! He's not aggressive per say just not been taught manners. I will be going again, but will be ready for the mud this time :) read more

This is a neat park in a lot of ways: It's fully fenced, there's a wooded trail that provides shade when it's hot out, there's a separate park for small dogs, there are woodchips that keep the park from getting muddy when it's rainy, there's running water, and it's in very close proximity to a 1-mile wooded trail loop. Also, subject to the major exception addressed below, the park is generally well maintained. That said, sadly, this park is apparently a giardia cesspool. (Giardia is also known as "beaver fever." It's a parasite that's transmitted via dirty standing water, via infected dogs' feces, etc.) Between early May 2011 and late July 2011, my dog got giardia twice, and I'm virtually certain that he got it at Beaver Lake Bark Park both times. I've also talked to several other dog owners whose dogs likely got giardia likely at Beaver Lake Bark Park, and Allcritters Animal Hospital treats many dogs that likely got giardia at Beaver Lake Bark Park. The park has two water bins that could facilitate the transmission of giardia, and one of the bins is so *ridiculously* filthy that I'm not sure why any responsible dog owner would use it. Allcritters Animal Hospital sees so many giardia cases relating to this park that they're beginning to wonder whether the woodchips are contaminated and transmitting giardia. Giardia costs a minimum of $225 to treat, assuming two fecal exams and one cycle of antibiotics. So, as nice as this dog park is at first blush, and as much as my dog loves this park, the health risks and related costs associated with this park simply aren't worth it. For that reason, at the risk of seeming like a hard nose, I give this park only one star. read more

We just took our dog here over the weekend. The off leash area is nicely fenced with chain link and wood fencing so there's no way they can get out (unlike Marymoor). The grounds were well kept and very neat looking. My beagle really enjoyed sniffing around in the bushes and trees that are in the small dog area. It was nice to see that it wasn't just plain grass like I've seen at other parks. The only downside is that the off leash area is hard to find from the main parking lot. There were no signs so we started walking down to the water and and asked around but nobody knew where it was. So we just started walking down a trail and stumbled across the off leash area at the other end of it. While the trail was beautiful and we enjoyed the walk, it would have been nice to know where the off leash area was. We didn't see a single map or any indication of where we were so we had no idea how long the trail was or where it would come out (we hoped it was a loop - thankfully it was). This is a great park - it just needs some better signage or maps so that people can figure out where stuff is. read more

Coming from our previous Dog park that we used to frequent this place is absolutely amazing. Not sure about the other reviews talking about having trouble finding the place. We followed the signs from the main parking lot and if you look across the baseball fields you can actually see it. Loved the park, huge area and well maintained. The trail through the woods was great, nice addition and a nice change from most squares of fenced grass that most parks are. Will definitely be coming back as often as possible read more

My husband and I took our dogs here for the first time a few weekends ago, and we loved it!! We usually go to Marymoor...although the BLDP is a fraction of the size, it is so much more secure. The wooded area inside the fence is perfect for dogs who love to roam, so our Beagle spent the good part of an hour following his nose while our Dachshund searched (& found) some delicious doggy cologne to roll around in. The surrounding park is also lovely with some fun walking trails through the woods. We will definitely go back! read more

We venture out here from Bothell on the weekends because the dogs/owners/park are that good and make the drive worth it. Our fluff is a rescue puppy who is still learning how to interact with other dogs. The owners we have encountered are so sweet and knowledgeable and have given us some great tips on how to socialize and train him. The dogs there also keep our pup in line, which is awesome. The park itself is fully fenced in and woodchipped!! So perfect for the rainy Seattle weather. There's a cool trail along the backside of the fenced in area to walk the pups along, or you can hang out in the open space to let them mix and mingle. There are also drinking fountains that run fresh water for the pups. Our favorite dog park that's worth the drive. read more

Love this dog park! We go here almost everyday! They have a large dog and small dog section to keep dogs of similar size together. Small dogs allowed to enter large dog area but not the other way around. They have bags and trash can readily available as well as water fountain for tall enough for people to use and low enough for the dogs too. I just wish it was a bit larger! read more

First time at the Beaver Lake Park. My Australian Shepherd loved it. She was running and herding the other dogs, but then there is the wooded area with a small trail to slow her down a bit that is very quiet and shaded. After her running we walked around the ball fields and got a drink in the great water fountains made for people and dogs. Then drove back to Bellevue. Did this all in a little over one hour on a Sunday. Like the signs warning you about fly balls from the Soft ball area. read more

Amazing dog park. Big enough you can't throw a ball from one end to the other. A very cool wooded area that the dogs can play in and get out of the sun. Bring a container because the dog fountain is not working properly. You can get water out of the human drinking fountain. You can also take a trail to beaver lake by the small dog area. We love this place. Half open, half wooded all fenced dog park. What's not to like? This place always has other dogs there to run around and play with. Definitely prefer it to other dog parks due to its size, and that it's completely fenced. Be sure your dog has tick repellent though, because they live in the woods there. read more

Good park. Hard to find the actual offleash dog area. If you park at the main parking lot (the evident one off of SE 24th), as you stand in the parking lot and face the woods/park, follow the trail to your right to the end. You'll then see a baseball field and the dog areas are next to it. The dog park is paved with bark so it keeps mud at a minimum... kind of nice when it's been raining. There's a separate area for small dogs even though small dogs are allowed in the large dog area, but not vice versa. read more
