Absolutely my favorite chocolates and gourmet marshmallows in the Universe! Yes, I said gourmet marshmallows! They truly are gourmet! Owner Tom Coleman came up with the recipe for them after much trial and error. They are nothing like the Jet Puffed marshmallows you get at the grocery store. They are sensational. They come in many different flavors, caramel, vanilla, peppermint, banana, and strawberry to name a few. All are made fresh on the premises. Now to the chocolates. Al the chocolate used is Belgian chocolate. It costs a little more than the chocolates you get in the box at the store because the ingredients cost more. There are no preservatives in this chocolate. You'll taste the quality right away. My favorite chocolates are the chocolate covered marshmallows. Chocolate mint being my most favorite. They make lots of other chocolates too, including truffles. Caramel is also made on the premises. They have other candies too. A lot of the traditional old school candies that appeal to kids. When I was there adults came in there with their kids. The adults went to the chocolates and the kids went for the candy. It's a small shop, but they ship all over the country at very reasonable rates. Cute tiny shop with lots of candy to choose from. All sorts of candy from old school commercial candy to homemade gourmet marshmallows. Smells AMAZING walking in! Whether it was the caramels, fudge, chocolates, or marshmallows--it all smelled amazing. Customer service could have been a little friendlier. They do not offer samples. And they don't like little children being loud in their shop. My kids bought bulk candy - which is $6.95 a lb, old school pez, and I decided on the chocolate dipped pizzelle cookie thing. All together I spent $5.00. Worth a trip to treat the kids. read more

Oh Candy, how I love you! I love this little shop! They ship their chocolates, camels, and marshmallows all over the world! They make all the old fashioned chocolate in store and uses Cane Sugar, Fresh Cream, No Preservatives. Natural and Organic Flavors. And you can tell. Beaverdale Confections is a great place to go if you are having a big craving for sweets. They make their own chocolates here as well as their own sipping chocolate. Unfortunately I wasnt able to try a cup of their sipping chocolate because it was made with whole milk, but they sell the sipping chocolate in a can so you can mix it with whatever you want. Their website says their sipping chocolate cocoa is from Ghana! Impressive! Next time I will have to pick up a can to try. I tried the chocolate covered gummy bears. It was so good I ate it all in one sitting! They also sell their own handmade marshmellows here and they had all sorts of flavors. They have a lot of flavors of marshmellows like strawberry, vanilla, and peppermint just to name a few. If you arent able to make it to the store, they sell these products at retailers like Gateway Market and Dahl's food. The people here are friendly and their products are reasonably priced! I had heard about the hand-made marshmallows for years and couldn't imagine how a marshmallow could be any different than a bag of marshmallows from the grocery store. I couldn't have been more wrong. These are incredible! They have great texture, freshness, and they melt in your mouth. They have a variety of flavors, so I picked peppermint and bought some a container of hot chocolate mix (sourced from Ghana). They hand make their chocolates including truffles and pecan cluster, chocolate covered strawberries, and tequila cherry cordials! This is a hidden gem of DSM! read more

We were nearby getting my fiance's suit for our wedding, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to stop in to a local treat-ery! I was pretty impressed with their variety of goods. They had a lot of brand name treats, as well as an assortment of older confections that I hadn't seen in a long time, or ever! The biggest pull for me was obviously their homemade goodies, and they had quite a variety. They had some novelty chocolates, like ones in the shape of Iowa and pigs, and they had cute kits like a make your own smores box. They also had a variety of popcorns and snack mixes that are made locally as well! Their display case was what caught our eye though. They had SO MANY different truffles and homemade marshmallow treats to go through, it was hard to decide! We ended up getting a box of 3 treats. The treats are definitely large enough to leave your sweet tooth satisfied! Dark Chocolate Truffle: Holy moly. I LOVE dark chocolate truffles and this one was one for the record books. The filling was rich and velvety. Definitely try this one! Dark Chocolate Caramel: This was my favorite by far. Thick caramel can be hard to master, and theirs was amazing. The chocolate was thick enough that you tasted it in every bite, but not too thick as to make it hard to bite into. The caramel was rich, thick, and chewy, without being clawingly sweet. My favorite of the three! Peanut Butter Truffle: I was a little disappointed with this one. The inside was only slightly peanut butter flavored, and the texture was kind of gelatinous. Beaverdale Confections is my favorite place for buying sweets- almost always for special occasions but also to treat myself! They have so many handmade confections it's hard to choose every time I go. My favorites are chocolate covered peanuts or the chocolate and peanut butter covered peanuts. They also have awesome gummy type treats of various shapes, amazing mixes, and I enjoy the specialty treats they make around the holidays because they make really good gifts. Super cute local chocolate shop. I have gone in a few times to pick up some treats. Everything I have had has been pretty good. I do wish they had a little more selection on chocolates made in store. They do have a great selection of novelty candies. The interior of the store is adorable and everything is placed very nicely with pricing easily available. The staff is great! I admit it. I'm a chocoholic. I LOVE good chocolate. Beaverdale Confections has Great chocolate!! They hand-dip all their chocolates there and they dip them Thick. Both the milk and the dark are decadent- smooth and luscious. I love the chocolate covered nuts- huge pecans and walnuts( and the nuts are very fresh too) but my fave are the Malted Milk balls. These are huge and the chocolate is Thick. They are just the best!! This is a great little neighborhood store and I like the chocolates much better than Stam or the Storybook. read more
