    Poutine

I don't have much to compare by as far as Toronto dogs and poutine but this was a good and fast stop. Enjoyed our hotdog in a cool wrapped bun and fries were tasty. I'd you're at the convention center and want a quick break then why not?

BeaverTails was on my Canada itinerary before I even landed. Ordered the Killaloe Sunrise on the cashier's recommendation and walked away a little underwhelmed. It was fine, but it tasted like a grown up, overpriced version of the Cinnamon Crispas I used to get at Taco Bell as a kid in the 80s. Nostalgia is nice, but not at that price point. The saving grace was the view from my table overlooking Lake Ontario, which was genuinely beautiful. Maybe that's what I was really paying for. Either way, I checked the box.

The food was an absolute delight, rich in flavor and the perfect dessert. Would recommend having it in the evening as the sugar crash is definitely real. I had the maple beaver tail with vanilla ice cream, which I highly recommend, however there are a plethora of options and combos you can do. The service and ambiance were also great!

The avalanche beavertail (marshmallow fluff, skor, chocolate) hit the spot. The poutine was fairly average leaning on the saltier side. A cool location to sit and enjoy a snack! We could see the water taxis coming and going frequently.

    Mehple and BrWownie

Apart from the glorious poutine, this was the other Canadian food to try according to my quick non-scientific research. The smells walking into the place were intoxicating and had me salivating. Groups of families and tourists made up most of the guests. I ordered the MehPle, and my friend went with the BrWownie. The wait was about 10 minutes. The cabin-like interior and its open air design helped us cool down with the ocean breeze coming in. The MehPle was incredibly crispy, sweet, and gooey, a hot and oily pastry, and a familiar kind of snack like those found at a county fair. My friend said the BrWownie was also very good with crumbs stuck on her cheeks. All in all, worth a taste. Before we left, I rang a singular sound off their bell.

My goodness these beaver tails were out of sight!! The plain cinnamon and sugar beaver tail was my favorite. If you're near... be sure to grab one. You won't be disappointed!

Great food and great views. We stopped here a few times during our stay in town because it was very close to the Airbnb

We knew we needed to try a beaver tail while visiting Toronto and were happy to find this location right on the waterfront and without a long line. Three of us shared two which was perfect for a snack. We had the Hazel Amour and Strawberry Cheesecake both of which were delicious! For those like us who haven't had these before, they are like a big flat donut that is a little crispy. It is not, as I had thought, like the US Midwestern elephant ear. At the risk of betraying my region, beaver tails are better! Seating at this location is outside on the waterfront which is lovely.

Tried the maple flavored BeaverTail in Toronto. The pastry was warm and fresh, but it had way too much topping, making it overly sweet. The flavor reminded me of a flatbread churro. The spot feels super touristy, and it would be nice if they offered a vegan-friendly option so more people could enjoy it.

    Bananarama beavertail

Such an iconic place conveniently located near the harborfront. It's obviously a must try when visiting Toronto but the taste was fairly unimpressive. For a fried treat, I was expecting the dough to be much crispier but it ended up being a bit limp. We got the Bananarama flavor (banana with hazelnut spread) and found it a bit too sweet. If you have Asian taste buds like us, would definitely recommend getting the Classic for a slightly less sweet option.

    The classic.

Ordering a beaver tail was super quick and easy. With this location being near the water, grabbing one and munching on it by the harbor was super nice. The classic was thin and crispy. Some parts were too thin that it was like a crispy chip. I thought it would be more like a soft pretzel texture... It's an in-between texture between crispiness and medium, thick dough. I guess I expected more out of this for some reason hearing the hubs mention it so much. But then again it's just cinnamon and sugar. It's a gigantic cinnamon twist but in the shape of a beaver's tail. It's still a pretty tasty snack unique to Canada. Give it a try if you haven't had it before.

BeaverTails is a Canadian pastry shop in Toronto (that also serves poutine). This location is right by the waterfront with great views. Their pies remind me of the funnel cake/ elephant ear fried dough with delicious toppings like apple pie! It is messy ! I was not a big fan of the lemonade slushy, but would definitely recommend you try the pastries. Staff was incredibly friendly and the food came out quickly and was fresh. #canada #pastry #sweets

I don't care if BeaverTails is a tourist spot because I love the Killaloe Sunrise and get it every time I'm in Canada and nearby a BeaverTails store. Killaloe Sunrise is a fried flat dough pastry dusted with cinnamon sugar and a lemon wedge for you to squeeze the juice onto the treat. Essentially it's a big, flat churro. The lemon juice sounds weird, but trust me it works and that's how I eat my churros now. Highly recommended.

The I Heart Butter Tart Concrete ($6.49) that I ordered was a little too much for myself. I did decide to go through and finish the ice cream / sundae just so I don't have anything to go. The interior of the place was properly though out and well designed. Self order stations are available to order from and the ordering interface is one of the better systems I have seen. When I dined in early afternoon on a weekday it was a rather slow day. There were a couple of Shake Shack employees constantly roaming about the premises ready to attend to any customer request. 1 such employee was thoughtful enough to serve me and a group of other customers some water. I have mixed feelings about the bathroom setup. Yes, it is clean and there were a few toilet rooms available, but it requires a code to be entered prior to using. The door screen shows as vacant but an employee still needs to give out the 4 digit code needed to access the toilets. I also found some issues with the water faucet sensors. It is inconsistently picking up my gestures resulting in an unreliable and unsteady flow of running water when I was washing my hands.

I couldn't let the opportunity pass. The dining space? Bright, clean, inviting. Modern but casual. Off to a genuinely good start. And then... things went south. I ordered the peri-peri chicken with two sides. The wait was excruciating. Not just long--confusing. Every single person who ordered after me was eating while I sat there wondering if my ticket got lost in another country. When the chicken finally arrived, I was stunned--and not in a good way. Easily the smallest leg/thigh combo I've ever seen. Yes, I'm used to USA-sized, GMO-filled chickens, but I've eaten plenty overseas. This wasn't "European portioning." This was kiddie-sized. Flavor? Underwhelming. Forgettable. Nothing that made me pause, nothing that lingered. For a place built on peri-peri heat and personality, this was shockingly flat. I can get chicken with more punch at my local Grocery & Go. The mac and cheese had decent texture--the breadcrumbs did their job--but flavor-wise? Completely bland. Zero soul. The fries? Although well seasoned, we're like warm. Overhyped things rarely deliver, and Nando's sadly fits the bill. Massive disappointment is the phrase that keeps coming to mind

Had the chicken with a fried egg on rice (substituted for pork, though) - ca. 15.99 on menu. The one guy serving the entire dining room (ponytail and arm tats and piercings) is the reason I'm writing this review. He was accommodating and super friendly and went out of his way for me more than couple of times in my one visit. I really appreciated him. Thank you, whoever you are! The ambiance was good - it felt comfortable, clean and friendly. The set up was a bit weird on first glance: sit, scan, and the order is served out to you (they also have take-out). The condiments were self-serve - the small containers to put sauces in made it hard to put it on your food though. I waited for 3 people to come and go at the station before I even attempted to get my hoisin and hot sauce. Individual bottles at the table would be better. More seating needed for sure! It is the cuisine of China's Shaanxi province, which has the capital city of Xi'An (or Xian), where you find the terracotta warriors.
