I use a ride share app myself but for my client's first ride alone I opted to call Radio Cab because it is what the concierge at her community uses. The Radio Cab dispatcher was laughably rude. He angrily refused to give a driver ETA "I have no way of knowing! I don't want to lie to you." I explained that my client was a sight impaired senior citizen and told the dispatcher that she was anxious. He responded with another impatient retort. After waiting with her and her dog for one hour I gave up and installed Lyft on her phone. Nine minutes later a kind driver appeared in a beautiful, spotless, well air conditioned (it was 90 degrees outside) car. My client's Radio Cab arrived 45 minutes later, almost 2 hours after I called. Two weeks ago I received a frantic call from a resident at the same facility who was stranded at her bank after waiting over an hour for her Radio Cab. I was with another client so she had to be rescued my the community's medical transport car. How is Radio Cab still in business? Starting tomorrow, I will be helping residents install the Lyft app and giving one on one instructions to help them become comfortable with this far superior option.

I prefer cab drivers who stay in communication. John was my driver and all I can say is that he was excellent, safe, and respectful. He stayed in communication with me and let me know what real time frames upon arrival and was there sooner then expected. If you are going to use a taxi service choose hello yellow and ask for John! I would say completely blows Uber, Lyft and any other taxi service out of the water. I felt like I was riding in the taxi with a friend or a long time family member. Safe driver? I fell asleep the ride was so peaceful.

He was very helpful in setting up my schedule. After the times were nailed down, I felt confident that he would take care of me. A couple weeks after making my schedule, I needed to change the time: no problem! I was picked up right on time, the driver was very nice, opened my door and took my bags. Told me where I'd be picked up, but I didn't quite know what he was talking about, lol! (the airport is a lot different from the last time I went there.) On the way back, Sam contacted me with a courtesy reminder while I was still in transit. I was very grateful for the reminder as I was totally exhausted. I asked at that time, "if i can get an earlier flight, will that work for you?" he says, "yes." **PLEASE NOTE: Twice I've made a plan and later asked to change it; the second time, my request was last minute. Both times, they were on board with whatever I wanted to do. Upon arrival, Sam gave me instructions on where to meet my driver. He was right there...NO WAITING, no wondering if this was my guy. He hopped out and grabbed my stuff. (I am sure I looked pretty wilted.) Saib was easy to chat with and friendly...I enjoyed having him as my driver. The gentlemen we had were friendly and took care of all of our luggage. The company has great communication. We were scheduled to be picked up at 4:45am but at around 9pm the night before I started getting nervous that we should leave a few minutes earlier, so I sent them an email asking if we could leave at 4:30am instead, really not expecting anyone to respond in time. They actually emailed me back within 10 minutes and confirmed the earlier pick-up time. Then, our return flight landed at PDX (an unheard of!) 40 minutes early. As soon as we touched down I texted the number to see if there would be any way someone could come pick us up for 40 minutes earlier than planned, again not necessarily expecting a response - especially since it was close to midnight. However, they texted me back instantly that my driver would be in touch with me soon, and sure enough our driver texted me within a few minutes. By the time we grabbed our suitcases off of the conveyor and walked a few minutes to the curb, our driver was already there and waiting despite us being 40 minutes early - and, again, it was close to midnight on a Wednesday. We are customers for life!

The choice was an Uber, which would not have worked for our situation, or a luxury car service. Hewar was wonderful from when I first called him to arrange our trip. He was attentive and patient, even when I called him multiple times with questions. The manager, Rasheem, met us at baggage claim. Our driver, Zhieco, was professional and friendly. He helped us get our (very heavy) luggage into the hotel. On the other hand, the company I called first did not give me a chance to explain why we needed help at baggage claim. As soon as he heard that, he immediately said he couldn't help me. He threatened to post my phone number online when I wrote him a one-star review. I was shocked. I would've taken it down, regardless, because I don't post bad reviews. So, I was especially glad to talk with Hewar on my second phone call. I highly recommend Elite. If I ever need a service like this again, I will for sure call Hewar.

With just two more MAX red lines scheduled to go all the way to my son's hotel at that hour and neither of us ever having been to Portland, I wanted to make sure he played it safe and take a taxi. We didn't need to comb through reviews here and at Google, but we did need to establish criteria before my son cross-referenced what customers were saying about 24-hour taxis in order to make the best choice. Seriously, read a few from other taxi companies. When I learned that he'd chosen Metro Cab, had already contacted them through their online form with all of the information they needed, and that they'd sent a professional reply within 30 minutes, I started to relax. After my son thought to change the pick up time in case of unforeseen delays, they quickly texted back saying that they'd be waiting for him by the agreed upon arrival time. Then the day before my son's flight, Metro Cab touched base to say they were still available. So professional. Of course, my son confirmed that he'd still be flying out. What I liked most about Metro Cab was that they'll use the flight number you give them to monitor things on their end. This was super important because my son's flight was set to be delayed by an hour before they even took off from Bush. *eye roll emoji* My son's experience with Metro Cab was so seamless that he didn't bother taking the MAX Red back to the airport after his conference ended, even though it was broad daylight. It was Metro Cab or bust.* Thanks Metro Cab! *A true surprise to me since my son initially didn't see anything wrong with taking a gamble on the Red line in the eleventh hour, a natural side effect of being an NYC subway passenger.

When you are tired and cranky there is no one else to deal with the crisis at hand. And my least favorite thing is that sometimes it seems like you pay twice as much for that hotel, taxi, gas, etc. when you don't have another person to split the costs. I was reminded of this little travel problem when trying to find the most economical way to get to and from PDX for a long trip. On short trips, Park-n-Fly or PDX long term parking are great, but weren't an option for this trip. So after much calling and web surfing for rates, I booked a towncar because they have a promotion where first time customers get a 20% discount if you pay by cash or check. So I got to travel in style without picking up other passengers and it was less expensive than the other shuttle services I checked. The owner was my driver both to and from PDX and I must say it was nice to see a friendly, familiar face after a long overnight flight. He was also on time (or early), personable during the drive and clearly takes pride in running a good business.
