When my guy and I were searching for wedding photographers, we noticed from her galleries that she knew her way around redheads :P and that her candids really captured the character of the people and the energy of the event. When we started talking to her and working with her, we were also really excited and impressed by her creativity and the way she collaborated to expand on our vision. We had some amazingly ridiculous ideas for our engagement shoot and she affirmed AND added to them; she showed the eff up, and drove around Oakland with us, props and costumes in tow (she even responded to a drunk photo-bomber with grace and grit :P) We were shocked at how much fun we had! Both of us are kind of allergic to canned/posed photos, and Becca has an amazing balance of making sure our heads were tilted the right way so the composition still looks good, but not giving sooo much direction that it would be super stiff and awkward. We were cracking up at some of her prompts: "Okay so Lizzy, I want your shoulders turned this way but your energy going that way" and honestly, it worked! She knows how to cultivate a really nuanced and connected experience by describing things really specifically but leaving a lot of room for our playful interpretation and authenticity. On the wedding day, she brought the same balance of flexibility and strength/leadership. I had at least 2.5 meltdowns, and Becca was kind and solid throughout everything. Becca shot our wedding about a month ago, and it was an absolute pleasure working with her; the whole process from early communications via email and phone calls, to the wedding day. We cannot recommend Becca more highly as a wedding photographer. She exceeded all expectations we had. My partner and I were both nervous and shy about doing the photos, but from the instant we met Becca she put us at ease. We did an engagement session as well, and we are so glad we did because we got to spend some time with Becca and get to know her before the wedding. Our kids are 1-1/2 and 4-1/2 and we wanted to finally get a decent set of family pictures to remember these years. We hired Becca, and she totally exceeded our expectations. She is so good at working with kids and families -- keeping the two little ones in check is a handful, but she helped put them at ease and rolled with all the little hangups that come along with the age. The pictures are fun and natural, perfectly capturing the personalities of kids (not to mention ourselves). There really aren't words to thank Becca Henry enough for the fabulous-ness that was our wedding. Becca was a pro from beginning to end- an absolute game changer. She was edgy, fun and upbeat throughout the entire even! In all honesty,I chose Becca because I thought her work was beautiful and gritty, really capturing the essence of what she was shooting. What I didn't expect was that who she is as a human being would end up being a damn lifesaver!! We are a queer couple and it was really important to us to feel comfortable with our photographer. Becca is an absolute dream come true. Not only does she deliver some of the most amazing photos you could ask for, but she also is just a joy to have around. We found Becca when she photographed a friend's wedding. We saw their photos afterward, and we knew we wanted her to photograph ours, too! We are so happy with our decision to hire Becca as our wedding photographer. When I was researching photographers I called her because I loved that her work felt like a combo of editorial and candid and I really liked her editing style. After working with her it is clear that she is a truly talented photographer, but also a great person! We hired Becca to photograph our family portraits when our daughter turned one year old. We had never done family portraits before and were quite nervous. After meeting Becca, I immediately understood why she came so highly recommended. She was cheery, friendly, and made us feel very comfortable. We went to a nearby park for the outdoor shots. A few years back we were looking for a wedding photographer and Becca was highly recommended to us by a friend.
