My husband has been dealing with this credit union for a month to fix a problem with his car loan that he received only one month ago! Right from the get-go they are showing their incompetence. My husband made his car payment early to make sure it went through and this payment has since disappeared! We go through US Bank usually and they see that his money was sent from his account to BECU and from there is it gone! Not posted to the car loan! He has been on the phone with them and US Bank now for a month trying to get this resolved. Their customer service has been awful and they have completely misplaced everything US Bank has sent them! I will never do anything with BECU ever again! By the way, US Bank has been great during all this, attempting to help as much as they can as well. read more

I love BECU! I have them for my Auto loan and banking and checking. They have helped me with everything with out any fuss or hassle. They have amazing low rates and no hidden charges. My friends have other banks and are constantly griping about how awful their costumer service is and how they are always being charged ridiculous fees for everything and anything.... I applied for a credit card to do a balance transfer for a high APR card that I have and it took them 2 days to get the denial. I been a member since 2014 and I thought this credit union is great from what I heard but in my case it really sucks. Anyway I will close my account tomorrow read more

Seriously dislike this credit union, terrible place to get any kind of loan from especially a credit card! I had fraud happen on my credit card and the asshole I spoke to on the phone was so condescending that I just felt stupid and as though it was my fault for my card being stolen, not only that but every credit card I have always emphasizes the 0 liability for fraud, but with BECU if they think its even remotely your fault your on the hook for it, now I am responsible for $584 of fraud on my account! We have been with BECU for many years. When we were hit with identity theft, they were wonderful! Our money was back in our account the day after we filled out the paperwork. We have heard of others that it has taken their banks weeks to give their money back. We recently transferred my Mothers accounts to BECU from Bank of America. She is much happier. I have been so pleased with BECU since I left WF 8 years ago, but, I have to say I am seeing a lot of unnecessary store fronts popping up around the city - shouldn't that money be used to give back to the members and/or voted on in some way by its members? I've noted a shift in motives to increase profits and several annoying email offers and marketing. Also, the money that was spent on re-branding is just ridiculous! I recently trusted BECU with my mortgage process and that is when I lost all faith. To detail - I was offered a very good rate on a jumbo loan, then decided to proceed. The underwriter denied me after pre-approval/qualification and then I was offered another loan and had a rate locked. The new loan required buying points! Maybe this is common? What was really not right was that the loan officer did not tell me about this point buying before I was directed to sign for the new loan. My credit is about as high as it gets and all was right except for one little thing the underwriter did not approve of. I felt like the mortgage officer should have flagged that way before it got into the hands of an underwriter. I've been a member with high balances at BECU for years and am now looking at moving to a smaller CU. If you are looking for a home loan do not waste your time here. Horrible customer service. Our loan officer, Tony Daniels, lost paperwork and did not respond to numerous emails. My husband and I wasted an entire month trying to work with the disorganized company. We were strung along after jumping through many hoops and were given the wrong information on many occasion. Don't do it!!! can I give a corner of a star? I have been with BECU for 20 years and I can't wait to get out of that credit union! We paid our home equity loan off and refinanced our mortgage with Key Bank. We just paid off our mothor home this experience told my husband and I that we need to speed up getting out of this credit union. It showed the folks we were with to never join! We have had several embarassing fumbling experiences with this credit union. We avoid going in this bank at all costs. So we have not been in the Everett branch in quite a while and wow can you say cattle call!!!! We went to sit with a loan person to pay off our motor home and we have done this before and the loan officer usually will handle it for you. This loan officer knew zero! She had to keep writing stuff down and going to her manager. Then she decided that we need to go do all the work. So we spent 3 hours in this branch stood in several lines mind you sometimes twice in the same line we ended up being in line 6 times!!!!!! I have a health condition that makes it hard for me to stand in line for long periods of time and so did the folks we were with and the credit union could see that but no customer service! You feel like you are caught in a live press 1 for this press 6 for that etc. We joined because back then they were very personable and very knowledgeable. They have gotten as far away from that as they could for sure. Becu please do not respond to this with we will contact you via private this or that I am not interested it is all crap you have contacted me before but you never make anything better so save your time and just keep rolling with your unkowledgeable staff and your cattle call and don't help people you can clearly see have no biz running around your bank for 3 hours. Your security guard even offered to yell out Russel Wilson is in the parking lot trying to make me laugh cause he could see the situation wasn't right. He made me chuckle like that guy! Great Credit Union! Every place has weird things that happen but BECU is always quick to fix them and always does it with a smile on there face. NEVER EVER use BECU for your construction loan!!. The best way to describe it is they sub it out to a 3rd party and you pay through the nose for the closing. On our $184,000. loan, our closing was a bit over 9,000. This is because they hire a Construction loan company from back east to do all of the work and then this company then hires and pays someone near you to come do your inspections on the monthly work. BECU only takes it back when it's all done and sets it up on a 30yr mortgage. YOU PAY THROUGH THE NOSE if you choose to use them, like the mistake we did.... They tell you they do construction loans, but they really don't. They say they're affiliated with this other company, when that means it's subbed-out, DON'T FALL VICTIM LIKE WE DID.... We'd done a construction loan in the past and our loan amount was $176,000. and the closing on that loan was $4,600 and the interest was much higher. My advice is to find a bank that does ALL of it in-house, NOT SUB IT OUT. If you choose to use them, ASK MANY MANY QUESTIONS, LIKE WHO THIS OTHER COMPANY IS BACK EAST.. Compare banks and prices... I love BECU!!! By far one of the best banks ever!!! I only bank with them, there are no others that compare! The loan officers are the best!!!! They have given me loans that I was not approved for orginally. After listening to my explanation of why I needed this loan for emergency purposes I was approved for 2 loans!!!! They saved my life!!! The funds that were need asap was very crutical and without those funds from BECU I would have been in a deep deep dark hole!!! They have lifted so much weight off my chest. I ust became a BECU member in July. I have to say that BECU on-line banking sucks. I have had 4 different passwords and still can't access the on-line banking. I even had the bank write all the information down for me and still couldn't get on-line. I have put in countless hours on the phone and at the local branch trying to sort this out. Goodbye BECU 1. We purchased our home with a BECU mortgage and it was an extremely painful and unnecessarily long process. There are plenty of reviews here describing that and I won't repeat what's stated there. Our experience was not good. 2. I can't use my BECU Visa without it being turned off due to "suspected fraudulent activity." Translation: The algorithm that looks at your transactions and turns your card off when it suspects fraud has been turned up to 11 because BECU has decided that it's better to have angry/confused/embarrassed/stranded in Mexico customers than it is to lose money to fraud and insurance premiums. I have called and asked if there's anything they can do to calm their program down, and I was told that I would just need to call them to tell them when I plan to use the card. EACH. AND. EVERY. TIME. Fair enough, that's their choice, mine is to use a different bank/card. 3. I started a business recently and did some research before opening a business account with BECU (due in large part to #1 and #2 above). I'm glad I did. The bank that I've been doing my business banking with has been light years ahead of BECU in terms of customer service and actual services offered. Why would I continue to bank with BECU for my personal accounts if I can't/won't trust them with my business accounts? 4. When I first started banking with BECU there were physical locations that you could walk into all over the city, which you would expect for being one of the more popular banks in town. Today there are a handful of ATMs, most of which don't accept deposits. We all have smart phones and internet connections but, for me anyhow, this has become ridiculous. Which brings me to... 5. The final straw: I got a ticket parking behind the Ballard BECU yesterday while I was making a deposit. I'm sure that there is signage stating the rules of the parking lot, I'm not arguing the ticket, I've already paid it. I remember, maybe incorrectly, that you used to be able to park in this lot and run into the bank and you wouldn't get a ticket so long as that was your business. The thing that gets me is that you would need to pay to park at all to walk into your bank and make a deposit at one of the VERY FEW physical locations in such a large city. I used to be able to walk down to the grocery store down the hill from my home and bank there. When they took that away, I could drive a little further and find a location and park there to do my banking. Now? I have to drive across town to go to find a location and when I get there I'm expected to pay for parking or get a ticket. No thanks. It's as if BECU has decided to experiment with its clients and see what the ratio of services to number of dissatisfied customers is before they start hemorrhaging customers and losing money. Which, when you think about it, is a perfectly reasonable thing for a big business to do in this day and age. That's not the type of business that I want to support with my patronage, however. I'm switching all of my personal banking to my business bank. read more

Another vote warning away from the loan department. Tried to work through them years ago and ended up going elsewhere because the loan officer kept messing up. I have very good credit and have never missed a payment on my current mortgage. I'm relocating and decided to try them again, but my application was denied, even though the monthly payments would be abut the same as my current payment. Don't get a home loan through BECU. It took over a month just to process the loan and almost two months before I got pre-approval. Through the whole process I was never able to get ahold of the loan specialist. I would usually have to wait a day or two for them to call me back. I finally decided to go through a different bank and got a better interest rate than becu was offering. Also it took two days to get a pre-approval letter from a 1st security. Luckily I was able to close on a house thanks to the loan specialist at 1st security . Anyways, I would highly recommend using a different bank for a home loan. read more

We've been struggling with BECU loan pretty much every other month. It was non problematic at all when we lived in WA and used BECU on daily basis. We had our payments automatically withdrawn each month. The problem started when we moved out of state. Everything became a hassle, even though they ensured us that it would still be very easy to handle. Every other month or so, they claim they didn't receive our payment (which we send using online bill payment with another bank) even though I have a confirmation from our current bank that everything was sent to them in time. And when they don't receive the payment on time they automatically withdraw the money from our still existing BECU account which does not have any money, because we can't physically deposit it to our account living on the East coast. They never contact us when this happens, and cause our BECU account overdraft which we have to pay for. Not mentioning there is no communication from BECU and they won't apply the payment to the correct month even if you call them. We wanted to call in and pay with CC, but they have $9.90 charge for CC payment option. Really?????!!!!! We've NEVER been late with our payments, and our current bank never failed to send them providing a proof of payment. Yet, each time, BECU claims that they never received it. And when they finally find it a month later they apply it to a different billing cycle. Another downside is that they only have 12 day window to receive the payments. So if we miss the window or send the payment too early (which is hard to estimate when to send it, because they loose them all the time), they will apply it to the previous month, and withdraw the current month payment from your account causing overdraft and never letting us know!!! Closing BECU account on distance is a HUGE issue, we've been trying for over a year, and they always come up with a reason we can't... they said it was going to be easy before we moved, so we kept it open. My advice if you are planning on moving out of state - CLOSE your accounts before you move!!! Don't listen to them! read more

Excellent customer service. It's wonderful to have a local bank with intelligent well trained professionals. It's great to challenge them with questions and you get an answer. It can take a while to solve a few issues but in the end they get taken care of. Their so-so for loans and mortgages. They do watch their client's accounts closely. Few to no monthly fees. read more

This is my experience with Boeing Employee's Credit Union (BECU), I am writing this so that hopefully something like this does not happen to you. This afternoon I went to make a couple of transactions at a BECU automated teller machine (ATM). I transfer $50.00 from my checking to my savings and then proceeded to do a cash deposit in the amount of $500.00. I deposited $500.00 cash into the ATM, shortly after the deposit while waiting for a confirmation to proceed I received an error message on the ATM screen that the ATM could not process this transaction and could not return my money, please contact a customer service representative. It then spit out a receipt that simply had the information of my transfer and the words "we encountered a problem returning your cash, please contact your financial institution" I then went to the banking center where I encountered pure rudeness and horrible customer service. I was told that they could file a dispute and that I could wait one to three business days to hear. I'm said wait, this is my money, I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and could use the money, open the machine, look at the machine, and balance the machine, there has got to be a way to see what happened. I was told "NO in a very rude and unprofessional manner. The customer service representative sorry, the representative (there was no customer service) then started entering into the computer the information to file a dispute. He questioned me on the amount and the denominations of the deposit and entered the information and then said that he had filed the dispute and I would here in one to three business days. This is a Friday so no money Saturday, Sunday, and who knows Monday to Wednesday. I asked for a confirmation receipt that there was a dispute file entered and was told that there is nothing to give me. I was not happy and asked again, I was then told that he could give me a confirmation number and started writing it on a sticky note, I asked for something on letterhead and was denied. I have never experienced such bad service and I also have accounts with Chase and Bank of America. BECU provided horrible service and seem to have very bad training and protocols if there machine steals your money. If you steal from their machine they have protocols and arrests and you are prosecuted to the full extent of the law but when their steal from you they treat you with horrible disrespect and a treatment like it is your fault. I received no "I'm sorry this happened", No "sorry for the inconvenience:", No, "we will do everything we can to rectify the situation", and when I was leaving mad, No, thank you for being a valued customer, no sorry, no have a nice day", strictly a glare of indifference" I have been a long time BECU customer and if this is how I am treated, unfortunately this is what you may expect as well. DO NOT TRUST A BECU ATM, do not trust them with your cash no matter how convenient the ATM may be. I am scared to know how many people this has happed to and if they receive the same horrible service that I did. BECU, becoming just another big bank, without a care for the customer. read more

We are in a middle of refi our Mortgage with BECU, and were sincerely hoping that we can provide the one positive yelp review for others.....However, our experience so far has been a roller coaster ride with absolutely incompetent loan processor, nightmare Appraiser of two, and mortgage loan dept. who gets very defensive when request to speak to manager or their contact info and doesn't share your urgency with rate lock in expiration fast approaching. If we ever had to do all over again, never start refinance process w/ BECU instead go straight to Mortgage Broker to save yourself time, money, and the pain staking frustration dealing with these people. Just when you think you have a little hope talking to a nice person, they'll let you down the next day. It is an absolutely, unpleasant experience which we don't want anyone to go through. Yes, I agree with others that no matter how many times you request them to call you on phone with any updates, they don't answer phone calls, instead respond via e-mail. I was hoping that we could avoid being another statistic of receiving apologies from Todd P. with his response to others. Todd P! BECU attracts you with their high interest payout on their accounts, but I don't think it is worth the trouble you have to go through. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing, that is BECU. We decided to use them to purchase our home 3 years ago. we were told the rate would be 3.75% and it would close in May 2009. to sum it up, it did not close until Aug 2009 and I found out at closing that the rate would actually be 5.25%! Well, we had arranged for them to take the payments out of one of our checking accounts. Three times in the first year, we got notices saying that we were delinquent on our loan! In Nov of that same year, we decided to finance a vehicle through them, and again arranged auto payments from our checking. Again, we constantly got notices that we were late on our payments! Every one of these times, we had more than enough money in the account. They just chose not to fix THEIR problem! Fortunately, the car loan was only intended to be a few months until we paid it off with our tax return, but of course, our home loan is not that easy! So, we are now in the process of refinancing our home through another company not only to get a lower rate, but to get away from BECU. Yesterday, I went online to see what our balance was, and noticed that we had $100 in NSF charges and $27 in late fees on our home loan. When I called to inquire about it, the first thing the lady asked was if I was calling to pay these charges. I told her, no that I was calling to find out what they were. They were from 2010 when THEY failed to take the payment out of our account! I tried for 10 minutes to get her to realize that this was all supposed to be taken care of 2 years ago and she kept on repeating to me that these are from 2 years ago and I cannot have them removed. My husband went into the branch office this morning and they supposedly fixed it (AGAIN!). The people at the local branch are very nice and say they hate working with the loan dept but there is not much they can do. Well, I call this unacceptable and I will not continue to let these people have a dime more of my money. read more

After trying for 3 months to have our loan officer respond to us or do anything with our loan after we gave her all of the paperwork, we finally left and went elsewhere. Not only did we get THE SAME rate, we're saving thousands by having someone who knows what they're doing. They all seem like they've been in the business mere months at BECU and are learning as they go. Also, while our loan officer would not return our calls or emails, she twice bcc'd us on emails meant for other borrowers. While we hope John ends up getting his $82,000 loan, we wonder how he would feel about strangers knowing he would like that. Attempting to work with BECU showed me just how unprofessional and horrible a place can be. We're saving money and more has happened with our loan in A DAY than happened in 3 months at BECU. Recently BECU suspended my mother's account for about 3 weeks because cashier's checks were deposited because they thought checks were scam. My mother was expecting these checks so she was very well aware of it. My elder mother was helpless so I tried to help her and unprofessional employee working for financial crime division started asking me unnecessary and interrogatory questions to me. ...for example how is your mother going to use this money ? I said that is none of your business so she threatened me that she will extend the hold for VERY LONG TIME....come on...it is her money she does not need to tell anyone where she is going to use it........TO VERIFY FUNDS ARE LEGIT ...ONLY THING SHE HAD TO IS TO CALL CHECK ISSUING BANK WHICH TAKES LESS THAN 30 MINUTES BUT THEY PUT AN HOLD FOR 3 WEEKS WHICH I BELIEVE NOT ONLY UNPROFESSIONAL BUT ITS A VIOLATION OF LAW AS WELL. ...these type of experiences tell me there is something basically wrong with them....they advertise as if we as a member own the credit union so indirectly they imply that we will be respected and taken care of ...but actual experiences are quite contradictory as we can read on other reviews...MOST OF THE REVIEWS ARE ONE STAR, WHICH IS NOT A SURPRISE TO ME...it confirms my view about them. We have decided to give our business to other credit union where they have tellers at each branch and managers and employees are not condescending and not unprofessional like they have at BECU. I would suggest my friends and family to LEARN FROM OUR EXPERIENCE AND STAY AWAY FROM BECU. read more

I read a few of the reviews and was like, what? Are you crazy, this place is awesome. A little subtext, I was with Bank of America for 20+ years, first account was Seafirst before they were acquired. About 6 years ago 6 months before Occupy Wall Street, I could see the writing on the wall with all the fees of the big bank and the ridiculousness, so I bailed and went over to BECU across the street on Lower Queen Anne. They were so nice to me. Granted, I have great credit, but they gave me a free $10,000 cash credit line like what I had at BofA but not charging me at all. I hopefully will never need it, but it's nice to know I have it. Then I got a small car loan from them, awesome low APR (paid off now). Then, I moved to California and it works great here, too. I just go to 7-11s or credit unions if I need cash. They have a great app for the occasional check I need to deposit. I still get to use them even though I am out of state now. Super great, so glad I switched and have really appreciated the friendly people at the branches I used to interact with. read more

In August 2015, I traded in my vehicle for a used 2014 Lexus. The loan was through BECU and I'm having the worst experience with them. When I had my previous vehicle it was insured through USAA. Usually when you trade a vehicle the insurance is good for 30 days, no problem. BECU sent a letter informing them that I must provide proof that I was insured with certain stipulations. Of course, I faxed all of the documents. The letters continued and I had to call them a clarify that I already faxed all of the documents. We called USAA on 3 way to further discuss that I had insurance. Two days later USAA called me asking to give additional information to BECU. I agreed to resolved the matter. A couple of weeks later I received another letter from BECU Loss Management stating my monthly rate will be increasing by $55 due to not providing proof of insurance and they have to add their insurance plan to the loan. I called again and spoke with another representative who said she agreed that it didn't make sense and would call me back to resolve the matter. I NEVER received a phone call back. I called the following week. The lady said it looks like I'm covered; however she needs to call USAA again to verify. I waited 15-20 minutes on the phone and she hung up!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully, this gets resolved....will update this post if anything changes....WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! read more

Terrified, Discouraged, Frustrated...If these three emotions are what you would like to feel when dealing with BECU's Home Loan department, then step right up. Since communication is non-existent, I have no idea where my loan is in the approval process, I'm terrified that I have made my family homeless...as in no where to go, as in my husband, 4 year old and 8 year won't have a roof over our heads because no one will tell us what is going on. I have called and emailed for information, but apparently I'm not worthy of a response. I'm discouraged because I have done everything that was asked of me, and no one deems me worthy of a response. I'm frustrated because this process shouldn't be this difficult. The customer service through this experience has been horrible, is it that difficult to respond to an email, even if it's just to say it has been received? I don't navigate the waters of mortgages on a daily basis, so I don't know what to expect, if you want someone to help you through the process then steer clear of BECU. read more

What a NIGHTMARE choosing BECU has turned out to be!!!!!!! Because of the great feedback I've always heard about them, I paid $30 more per month on my auto loan just to go with them. BIG mistake. Just trying to pay my auto and credit card bills have become a nightmare every month!!!!. Everything from their online service which for some reason can't pull money directly from your checking or savings account directly and requires you to do all this transfer, transfer, transfer BS to HORRIBLE customer service to over an hour long wait time to actually talk to somebody in person at their Issaquah location to serious complaints that never get addressed-- I am sooooooooo regretting this decision to go with them!!!!! If you love doing extra stuff online, things that are extremely unnecessary, it's great. If you just want to pay your bills easily and simply--BEWARE. Paying my freaking utility bill with just a few touches on my iPhone is a breeze compared to this company!!! read more

I had my auto loan through BECU. I was having trouble getting a loan for my house because I had 2 late payments on my credit report. I realized the two late payments were from BECU and I had never made a late payment. I called BECU to inquire about the issue. The lady I spoke with argued with me telling me that I had paid late twice and there was nothing they could do to help me. I asked one more time to have her check the records. When she checked again, she said "Oh, you're right, we misreported you had two late payments on the same payment" I asked her to please correct them off today so I could call my underwriter for the house to re-evaluate my credit. I was then told that there was only one person in the entire company who could help me and there were a lot of other people who had the same problem I did so she wouldn't help me today and she'd get to me when my "turn" came up. Home Equity/Debt Consolidation...why is this offered by BECU?? My husband and I recently decided to take advantage of this service but quickly found out that this is NOT as it seems! Members are led to believe that if they have great credit scores, lots of equity in their homes, and great payment history, they are an excellent candidate for consolidation! HOWEVER, you are not allowed to have any debt! (Or, they recommend that members minimize their debt and THEN request assistance with consolidation!) My question would be .... What would be the purpose of requesting a loan if you had little to no debt?!? Way to go, BECU!! Word to the wise: check Yelp first and DO NOT go to the Tukwila Branch if you decide to persue this service from BECU! After more than two decades with them, we are strongly considering moving all of our accounts and will NOT be recommending BECU to any of our 'framily' members. read more

I love BECU for banking services. However, I made the mistake of using them for a home loan and really regretted it. The entire process was horrible with no communication. I had to provide the same documents to them over and over again because the loan officer kept losing them or overlooking them. We almost didn't make our closing date because I could not get the loan officer to call me or email me back EVER. I would leave messages and send emails daily, to no avail. Getting the appraisal scheduled and questions answered was nearly impossible. I had to go crazy and contact a supervisor and eventually had to go above that person to a higher-up manager in order to make sure we closed on time. It was a complete nightmare to deal with the lack of communication and complete lack of follow-through while we were remodeling and selling one house, and preparing to move into the new house we were buying. It was one of the MOST stressful experiences ever. I like being a part of a local credit union and banking services, BUT I would NOT recommend using them for a home loan/mortgage services. read more

I applied to refinance my house in April. During the process I've provided them all of the necessary documents, statements that they've requested for verification and had the house appraised as well for true value of my property. After the report was sent to them by the appraisal company the loan advisor I'm working with told me that third week of June is the closing of the loan. It is now almost the end of July (closing in to 90 days!) and I haven't closed on the loan. This is unheard of! I have never experienced this type of service from BECU since being a member for over 20 years. I even emailed my loan advisor yesterday (July 20th) to get an update and I haven't heard or received a response back from him. My patience is wearing thin right now because of the lack of communication I'm receiving from this lender....I work for a company who is very focused in customer service and this is not the kind of service we give our customer whether they are small or big company. I am probably going to re think using BECU in the future. read more

These reviews are so ridiculously obvious! I have been a BECU (Boeing Employee's Credit Union) member for over 20 years and now that they have opened the door to everyone they have stopped my Line of Credit, raised the Interest Rates on all of my Credit Cards and they still don't have many locations so getting to a branch is very, very inconvenient. I'm sorry...But Really? This is the way they now treat their most loyal, credit worthy customers? Really? I do not believe the Glowing Reviews on this Site are from long time customers at all. Nice Try BECU. So many people are complaining and switching.Their Employees have the same complaints! Their own emoloyees are being treated the same way. Terrible! So I am swiching as soon as I can make sure another Bank is going to treat me better. They are very, very conservative and very expensive. Treat people badly and if I have to be treated this way after being a good customer for so long then why wouldn't I want to go somewhere else where it would also be way more convenient to get to a branch? Any answers to that? BECU is going to have to start convincing their current customers why they should stay or open any account with them at all. Just like all the other banks do. Customers want to be rewarded for being responsible, long time, loyal customers...Not punished. And by the way...They should probably change they're name. They are not the Boeing Employee's Credit Union. How they get away with that no one understands either. Awful...Just terrible customer service! read more

I have been a BECU member for over twenty years, but they do not care about the member like they used to. I took out a line of credit and have had nothing but problems since. The automated payment schedule and "policy" steals money from the borrower. The system would take a monthly withdraw from my checking account, pay off the interest and put the remaining amount back into my checking account. Doing so, would not lower the principle and every month this would continue. I made several trips to the office to work this out only to find that nothing was changed. I was then forced to open a seperate checking account just for the line of credit. Now I have monthly payments being applied to the line of credit but the amount withdrawn is lower every month. Again I called to tried to get the same amount applied to the loan every month, but was told "that is not how our system is set up". The "system" is setup to extend the payments as long as possible to extend the interest payments. The only way out is to pay it off in one big sum. read more

When I got divorced 13 years ago, I got to keep the house to raise the kids in. At the time there was a lot of equity. I took out a second mortgage with becu to do some home improvements. I have paid both mortgages faithfully for as long as I've had them. My plan had always been to sell the house when the child support stopped and the kids were 18. Unfortunately, due to the downturn in the housing market my house is worth just what I owe, or a little less. Here I am, no child support, no equity and a house payment that is too big. My first lender CHASE is willing to modify my loan. Great! Awesome!! That's a great start to keeping my house! I then call BECU to see if they will HELP or if they will modify my second. I am told they do not participate in that program BUT for three hundred dollars UP FRONT, they will reduce my payment by TEN DOLLARS A MONTH! Wow. BECU would rather have me walk away from my house, go through foreclosure and bankruptcy then to modify my loan, so I can stay in my house and still be able to feed my family. I am not asking for them to forgive the loan, just work something else out so that it is more affordable. For all the crap we hear about banks like CHASE..THEY are the ones TRYING to help me stay in my house. NOT BECU read more

My experience shows refinance with BECU is a joke, untrustworthy , and very disappointed. Initially I saw 12y/ no fee at 3.4% very attractive, so I applied online and rates jumped to 3.65% when locked in couple days. I did not listen to my friends about bad experience doing refinance with BECU, so gave it a try. BECU called me to assure that no problems with my application, loan should be closed within 60 days, and no appraisal needs because loan to value about 77%, and asked for W2 + bank statements + other document. Provided them all and waited about 3 days, the rep called back saying that she had to put me on 15y with closing cost about $5000; she closed my 12y application and emailed me new 15y loan number without my approval. She claimed that my wife has only 1 month work history; but that showed on the application and I did provide her degree to show she's in school per their requirement before. Then she claimed my credit score is low; the advertisement shows 12y program requires only 660+ but BECU mailed me my credit score over 710; actually their 15y program requires much higher credit score than the 12y, why I am qualified for 15y. Then they claimed loan to value requirement 70% minimum so I'm not qualified for it; she told me before that no appraisal needs above that I didn't ask for. My conclusion: BECU wants to attract customer first by their good rate, then they want some money after seeing bank statements; and if customer is a desperate in refinance, customer would be ended up with more cost than expectation.
