Super dissapointed in how Verity has fallen. They were great 9 years ago when I created my account. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been trying to pay off a loan and can't get anyone except folks in a call center that can't find me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This company was all about look how open our space is. I've stopped by this branch a few times to make deposits. I'm a member of a credit union in Hawai'i which is part of a credit union network. So even though I'm not a Verity CU member, I can still easily make deposits for free. They have a drive through but the last couple of times, I've been told that cash deposits need to be made inside. It's always been easy to find parking. Sometimes there is a slight wait but service is always efficient and friendly. Whenever I try to use my phone navigation to their address, Google Maps and Apple Maps lead me to incorrect locations. I'm attaching a screenshot of the actual location of the CU. read more

Apparently other users have had the same experience with Verity going downhill over the last few years. When I started 14 years ago, everything was fine. I don't used my debit card very much in town, so I didn't start having problems until recently while on a long trip overseas. Since summer of 2025 my debit card has randomly been declining for no discernable reason. It increased in frequency over the fall when I started declining transactions about half of the time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The consistent horrible customer service reps kept telling me that it was merchant error. I'm like, 5 times in a row from 5 different places?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Of course, Verity tells me that they have no record of any declined transactions. I should have gotten out then. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then I scheduled a 5 week trip in Asia, noted my account where I would be, and communicated that I really needed my cards to work smoothly as I would be using them heavily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Didn't even make it out of Seatac before my debit card declined at a restaurant. This would be a harbinger of a trip made awful but constantly randomly declining cards. I was repeatedly stuck in cities with no way to access my accounts, no way to buy transportation or food, and embarrassed that I had to ask friends for help. A 15 hour time difference complicated things greatly. Luckily I found some vendors and transport that accepted Paypal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Eventually Verity stopped messaging me back after messaging them through the app 9 times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then the cherry on top! I was stuck in Jakarta and needed a hotel for one night before a flight but couldn't find any place that my cards would work at. Resigned, I tried to stay up all night in a park. I must have dozed off when I felt someone going through my pockets. I opened my eyes and was hit in the face hard. I was beaten and robbed. Luckily, I had was able to get 1 of the 2 robbers and got some of my things back. If my debit card worked anywhere I would have been asleep in a hotel room instead of with a black eye, swollen lip, etc. Canceling my accounts immediately when I get back. Absolutely horrible experience due to Verity. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I originally left a Yelp review on January 24, 2025, regarding my frustrating experience with Verity Credit Union's appointment scheduling system and my attempt to receive professional assistance with my solar loan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]After my scheduled appointment was missed, I eventually received a callback--two hours late--only to be told that the representative needed to "follow up with me" regarding my questions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The issue I needed assistance with was a payment I made toward the principal of my loan, which was incorrectly applied in part to interest. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wanted this corrected and asked how I could ensure that future payments were applied solely to the principal. After placing me on hold, the representative stated he would email me instructions later that day. However, no follow-up was conducted, no email was sent, and it was as if our conversation never took place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On February 3, 2025, I scheduled another phone appointment to follow up since the representative had failed to do so. Once again, my scheduled appointment was missed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now, I am stuck on an extended hold with customer service, trying to get my questions answered and my issue resolved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]At every stage, Verity Credit Union has failed to meet even basic expectations. So far, so good. I needed a business bank account and BECU wouldn't let me open one online. I heard good things about Verity, and they made the process reasonably simple. I filled out my application online and was contacted the next day by a banker. She walked me through the rest of the process which involved some forms and providing more info. I did need to do a temporary unfreeze of my credit at one bureau, which I hadn't expected. Thankfully that is easy to do. I have had a chance to do much with y my account yet, except for transfer some starter money in. I'll have to update my review later once I have used it more. read more

While Verity is a credit union it appears to be one of the worst, engaging in predatory banking practices like heavy and repeated overdraft fees. Like offering higher intreat on checking accounts than savings accounts. And prewriting glowing reviews for you to post in the App Store. I work for a Canadian company and was absolutely shocked at the ineptitude Verity displayed when handling 'international transactions' i.e. attempting to receive a wire transfer from a Canadian bank or deposited a check written in Canadian funds. For the first instance their opaque instructions were to send the money to a third party with a note asking them to transfer it to my account, for the latter, at the bank teller, I filled out, by hand, a paper form, handed it over with a check, without any information on the time line for processing or deposit and with out any sort of receipt, I was provided a copy of the paper form after I requested it. The app is functional for banking, but nothing to write home about with a convoluted UI. Did I mention how they transferred my mortgage to a third party processor creating substantial work for me without offering any benefit or improved service? I can no longer see or pay my mortgage in the app. read more

Okay so I had previously left a poor review based on the after hours customer service. And I stand by that. They're awful, and talking to them is frustrating. HOWEVER, the branch attention/ customer service is phenomenal! Like, so much more personable, patient and transparent than any other bank/ credit union. Problem solvers that helped with an issue that I had been going round and round with (after hours) customer service. Just call the branch directly. Anywho, just wanted to update my banking saga because I think it's really hard to come back from a negative experience, and they really did that at Verity, specifically the Beacon Hill branch. After getting completely messed over by BECU, I needed a real credit union. I mean 50 locations and BECU only services and tends money from 1? Nope. I came into Verity with questions and left with an account. I spoke to Montel and not only were my questions answered, I wanted to open up an account. As a coop shared branch, I can access both my Verity account and my other account here. Free checking, minimal fees, and all of their branches will actually work. Goodbye BECU and your not caring. Hello Verity. A plus, I can use my Verity card at BECU atms. Worth it! read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been a Verity member for years and I enjoyed the ease of banking at the Greenwood branch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Verity recently closed it down. The reason they gave is "there are not enough low-income people in Greenwood" This makes no sense to me. I am retired and low-income and I'm not happy about losing the branch. They previously closed the Ballard branch so now the entire NW and North Central parts of Seattle have no access to Verity. Yesterday I tried to deposit a check in the BECU ATM at Fred Meyer in Greenwood. Not only was the machine unable to read my check, it ate my debit card! I had to call Verity to get the card cancelled. The BECU ATM at Fred Meyer is often broken and seldom allows checks to be deposited. The BECU ATMs are garbage, particularly the one at Fred Meyer and the one across Greenwood at the BECU branch. I will no longer try to use their machines. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tomorrow I have to take two buses from Crown Hill to Wallingford to get my debit card replaced.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I searched Verity's website for info on money market rates and there was nothing. The website mentioned money market investments and had no information about rates or minimum investment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now that the Greenwood branch is closed. I have to go back to trying to reach Verity by phone. I can take long time to get through[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Why won't Verity hire more staff to answer the phone?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I used to walk or bus to the Greenwood branch where I could talk to a live person, but that's impossible now.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm thinking of moving my money to another credit union because Verity has effectively cut off its customers in NW or North Central Seattle. I would leave ZERO stars if I could. After suffering an abusive marriage for 20 years, I am now a struggling single mom trying to rebuild my life & my credit. I received a settlement check from my attorneys trust account for $1,000. They placed a 12 day hold on half! They refuse to release the hold 2 days early even though I have a copy of the cleared trust account check from my attorney. This is illegal and also prejudice!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've never been treated like I am nothing & I don't matter until today when I called to request more funds be released.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager that helped me open my account & fix my past delinquency told me to call in this week if I needed more funds & now refuses to release any.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The call center supervisor, Danny Mendoza, also told me I could "try" to go into a branch and close my account but they still won't release the hold and give me my money.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ​I can't pay my bills, get gas ir buy my son food until Tuesday now...talk about doing right by your customers, huh?!?! All I can say is after speaking with Danny Mendoza, Claire B. and Querico Borja, I will be closing my account and telling as many people as I can to NEVER TRUST VERITY WITH THEIR MONEY. By definition, Verity, means the state of being true or real...their employees are neither! I used to work there in the call center so I remember how I was trained to treat members...maybe the cut cost by doing away with the Member Services Representative's customer service training. ​ read more

While their in person experience has bee excellent, Verity's on-line banking is horrendous. Forms that are difficult to understand and fill out correctly, and sometimes outright inability to transfer or do anything else you want to do with your own money. This was my first (and last) attempt to use them. It's simply impossible for me to recommend them to anyone, for anything. read more

i am giving this a 2 star rating for the following reasons: [[HIGHLIGHT]]When there is an issue with my account, it is very hard to reach someone. I had to set up an appointment online in order to get a person on the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The other issue that I have since I have been with verity so long is that their new system seems to be having glitches. I have to verify myself on an average of once every month to six weeks, which I shouldn't have to do. Now, my biggest issue which has caused me to wait until my transfers is completed, was that my money was not transferred to my main account at another financial institution. I have half of my income come to my main account and the other to come to verity. On the first every month, it is transferred. Now, I figured that it would have been transferred TODAY because of the holiday, but it was not. They just started processing it! So what happened is that my main account is severely overdrawn and I have to wait until the money comes into my account which can be anywhere from tonight to 3 business days. Do you have any idea what type of financial strain that your financial institution has done to me? I have a big surgery coming up next week and have to be at my doctors office all day tomorrow for prepping for my surgery. I saved up so I can cover my expenses for the rest of the month because I am on a fixed income and do deliveries with these gig companies just to make ends meet. Now that I am finally getting out of the red, i may incur 13, YES 13 OVERDRAFT FEES for the transactions that are coming in today because most of my bills are paid for before the 5th so I can know exactly what is left. And now, I will have to call my other bank back and hope someone understands and not take so many overdraft fees that I have no control over right now. So unfortunately, I am going to have to not have direct deposits over at Verity anymore. I have already contacted my organization that submits my payments and will have them rerouted to my main bank and I will deposit what I wish into Verity as a savings and nothing else. My issues have started with Verity early this year and consistently getting worse. And I cannot afford to have penalities because your system decided this was the month to mess up on my finances. PLEASE DO BETTER OR YOU WILL LOSE MY BUSINESS FOR GOOD. read more

Got my solar panels finance through these fools and let me tell you they are funny. First of all when I get approved they automatically set me up for auto pay. then i received in the mail a letter to set up my autopay and so i filled it out and gave them a call and to my surprise they said i didnt have to cause im already set up. So fast forward to the first date of payment and i checked a few days later and to my guess what, it didnt go through. the payment was bounced so i called to determine what was wrong. The customer service rep that i spoke to was pretty much unhelpful. He basically told me that i had to contact my bank to ask them why it bounced and i told him i think they have the wrong routing and account number to which he said oh that might be it. He asked many questions that didnt have much to do with anything and at the end of it all he says to me how i would like to pay and i was like how can i? his reply was debit or credit and i said i can do credit? and he says let me check. after he checks he said i can take a debit card but it will be a 15$ charge unless I do it online which is only 10$ charge. i told him that was crazy considering it wasnt my fault. i told him thats 15$ charge for paying and 25$ late fee charge on a mistake that they made. I shit you not what happened next was that i asked to speak to a supervisor and after telling her what just happened she said ok i can ring you up over the phone and it will be a 15$ charge. i then told her thats ridiculous and she asked are you not trying to pay then? At that point i had to explain to her that i am not paying for their mistakes. read more

After 30+ years with Verity I'm closing my account with them. Send them an email with the appropriate information and get a call from an employee who takes delight in asking the same information on the email. Verity employees love to stick to the customers. Appears management doesn't give a rats what the employees do or how they treat customers as long as he/she gets paid. BECU has a stellar reputation, good by Verity & help BECU. read more

Fortunately I have been a member at Verity credit union for over 10 years now and there is not one day that I do not enjoy going in. From the lovely staff, to the care of my secure funds, this Credit Union has everything you could ask for. Verity has opened doors for my credit, where NO other lender would. All of my accounts including loans and credit cards are through their team and I've encountered many experiences over the past 12 years, but I will continue to stick with this credit union because of the history, and the staff and I are all on a first name basis. I mainly bank at this Beacon Hill branch, and I've got to tell you - absolutely everyone I've dealt with there has been extremely professional, helpful, and friendly! The tellers that work here are very friendly. The parking is pretty good and they have a drive-thru option. The only downside is trying to find the location on the VA Hospital grounds. Once you find it you'll have the best banking service around. read more

Totally dropped the ball in the business account department. Have rarely ever been able to reach anyone via phone. 20 minute hold times . When opening a new business 20 minutes may as well be a day. They promised a lot and gave a little. Staff is friendly enough but u can't run a business on friendly. They might want to pay less attention to hipster art work on the walls and music videos and more time actually banking. read more

This review is about Verity Credit Union in general, and doesn't relate to a particular branch - I have rarely been into a branch and do all of my banking online. In fact, I live in a wilderness area in NE Washington and there isn't a VCU branch within 300 miles. When I need a physical location (large withdrawal) then I go to a credit union in Spokane that is a part of the credit union alliance, and it is just like going to a Verity branch office. Re ATM's, no problem because VCU reimburses me for the first 25 in fees. I pay my recurring bills (I generally keep a simple financial life) through VCU bill pay system. I have been up here in the Huckleberry Mountains for a couple of years now, and may switch to something more local if it makes more sense, but the fluid and easy nature of working with VCU works perfectly well for me at the moment. read more

Super convenient to discover a drive thru credit union cash machine where I can make fee-free withdrawals closer to home. A bit tucked away in the VA parking lot but open for business despite construction. Sort of over toward the MacPherson's side of the complex. Follow the signage within the parking lot and you'll find it. read more

The credit union part is fine. They are nice people. After 10 years though, I've had to move my retirement investments elsewhere. Basically, Verity's advisors put your money to work - for them, not you. Bad financial advice is very costly. Unfortunately, it's all too common. read more

Andrea Martineau a Senior Loan Officer of Consumer Lending Department and Hector Montano, Brach manager in Columbian Way did an excellent job helping me to make my car loan process expediously. I bought a car from California on December 2010. I really want this car deliver on or before Christmas day. It's a bit complicated to make a transaction from out of state. BMW offerred to give me the car loan but because of the trust and previous experienced I had with Verity I decided to stay with Verity specially when I started dealing with Andrea and Hector both of them influence my decision to stay with Verity Credit Union. What an awesome personnel to work with. I am a very satisfied customer and would like to give a rating of 11/10 ( they both exceed the rating scale) on Andrea and Hector. Saturday staff on 2/6/16 with Hector, Chelsea and Haafiza was one of the better customer experiences I had. I arrived right as they were closing and with a bit of a complicated question. Not only did they kindly accept my request I never felt rushed - I understand this is not the ideal situation me coming in last minute and them helping a customer during their off hours - but they did it with a great deal of character, I was very grateful. I have using this branch since I moved to Seattle in 2014 and have no complaints. Sterling who helped me open my business and personal accounts was extremely receptive and very accommodating. He was responsive to emails and always provided clear explanations to my questions. I really appreciate good customer service and these individuals came through with flying colors.
