Both of our daughters had a great year, one in kindergarten and one in Pre-K. The teachers were kind, patient, caring, and had such a special influence on the kids. You can truly see how much they love and encourage each child. One thing I really loved was how well they paid attention to each child's strengths and areas where they needed support. The progress reports and updates were always timely and helpful, and it was amazing to see how much growth happened throughout the year. Communication with the teachers and staff was also wonderful. Anytime I had a question, I always received a response quickly, usually in less than an hour, which meant so much as a parent. We also loved the principal, teachers, and staff. From the classroom to carpool, everyone was always so welcoming and cheerful. They greeted the kids with big smiles and truly treated them like their own. Our girls grew so much this year, both academically and personally, and we will always be thankful for the love, support, and positive impact ORLS had on our family. We began having all kinds of trouble in the 9 months we were at the previous school and they all disappeared the day he started at Our Redeemer. I have been trying to be patient and give them time to get better but to no avail. They DO NOT communicate with the parents about anything! The Intermediate school does a great job at communicating but not Thelma Jones! The teachers I've met are rude and snobby, except the music teacher she is pretty amazing! The playground is pitiful. I'm thankful that this is the only year my daughter will go to this school!

Her teachers are super sweet and you can tell just adore all the kiddos in their class. She has made some friends and always mentions them when she's at home. I used to work for The Community School of the Park Cities, and I witnessed three Lead Teachers…read moremistreating the babies & toddlers every day. They leaned all their weight against the babies when washing their faces in the sink (which can injure their organs), lifted them by one arm (which can dislocate their shoulder), grabbed them aggressively, shoved food in their mouths aggressively, made them stay in their cribs for several hours, yelled at them for wanting to get up or for crying, swaddled them when that's against the law in daycare, and spent a lot of time texting & talking on their phones instead of watching the babies. The Lead Teacher in the Toddler Room was very impatient & squeezed their shoulders when they didn't obey, instead of using redirection. I explained these things to the director, but she said, "It's going to be a lot of work to replace those teachers." I later asked her what she was going to do about the incidents & she said her lawyer told her not to talk to me about it, so I reported the incidents to Child Care Licensing. They visited the school, but weren't able to do anything because I didn't have pictures or videos. I asked the director to install cameras, but she said no. Something must be done to bring awareness to the parents. Those lead teachers are still there & the director doesn't want to make the effort to replace them.

They are all genuinely nice people and I enjoy visiting with them when we drop off. We used the Plano center a few times and had positive experiences there, too. (Just have not yet met the owners.) Our child started going to Adventure Kids at age 3 and has been going for 4 years. We probably use this location once a month for a date night or after school meetings. The care providers are always very sweet, and some of them even recognize us when we arrive. That makes me feel reassured at drop off, and our child always has a great time. This particular location is very close to school, so other classmates we know use this location often. Overall, we have been fans of Adventure Kids since we moved to Texas. It is a clever idea for a business, and in my opinion, they offer a great service ... especially for parents who are new to the area and don't yet have babysitters.

When my daughter told me what had happened, I went to the location the following day to address it. I explained my concern to a staff member, and instead of showing any empathy or even acknowledging what I was saying, she simply gave me an email address and walked away. There was no "I'm sorry to hear that," no attempt to understand what had happened, and no concern whatsoever. I did follow up by email and spoke with management, who addressed the situation and told me they would speak directly with the staff member involved. At the time, I considered the matter resolved. However, after returning and interacting with the same employee again, I was disappointed to experience the same dismissive, unwelcoming attitude. Whatever conversation may have taken place clearly did not result in any noticeable change in the way I was treated. We only returned once after that and then stopped going for quite some time. This week, I decided to give the location another chance because I was in a bind. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, my daughter immediately said, "Oh no, not this place. I don't want to be here. They're mean." I went inside with her and asked if I could stay for a few minutes to help her feel comfortable. They allowed me to do so, and eventually she began playing and warming up. What really stood out to me, however, was that the staff could clearly see that she was hesitant and having a difficult time staying, yet not one person approached her, tried to engage her, reassured her, or made any effort to help her feel welcome. After observing that, I decided I was not comfortable leaving her there. When I said we were going to leave, the interaction I received from staff only reinforced my decision. I'm actually thankful I went inside this time because I was also able to see the condition of the facility for myself. It appeared dirty and very run down. The toys and play areas did not look well maintained or clean, which was especially disappointing for a childcare facility. The same staff member I had dealt with during our previous incident was also there, and unfortunately, I experienced the same dismissive and unwelcoming demeanor. What makes this even more frustrating is that I had already prepaid for one of their highest-tier packages, which was several hundred dollars. Since my daughter clearly does not feel comfortable returning, I asked whether the unused portion could be refunded and was told no. At this point, I would rather lose the several hundred dollars I already paid than leave my daughter somewhere she is telling me she does not feel comfortable or safe. That should say everything. I was in enough of a bind that day that this type of drop-in childcare should have been incredibly helpful. Instead, I chose to take my daughter to work with me rather than leave her there. I will not be returning to this location with my daughter, and based on our experiences, I cannot recommend it to other parents.
