Good selection, nice staff. Not a huge section for smaller kids, but what they have is quality. Definitely worth a visit.

Just wanted to point out some REALLY crappy customer service I just saw at Westheimer. I came in to pick up my layway today and there was a kid asking questions about toys behind counter - the guy at the front (thin with a red beard) was visibly annoyed answering his questions. He was too damn busy on his cell phone. He finally told the kid - "just so you know everything behind the counter is going to be $50.00 or more". 1st of all that is bull not everything is $50.00 and 2nd what a douche move...put your damn phone down and help your customers. Extremely well stocked comic book shop right off Washington near Shepherd. If there's a number one comic book store in Houston, it's probably this place. They have just about everything, lined up and organized very well, and with ample room to walk around so you don't feel like you're about to be run over if a second person walks over to the same shelf. Staff is usually extremely helpful but a few of them can be kind of snobby and rude. read more

One of those "definitive" comic book stores. I've gone to a variety over the years in different cities and some just don't really measure up. They're either too small or lack a certain something whereas Bedrock has toys, shirts, comics, back issues, trade paperbacks, statues, etc. And not just a few but fully stocked with so many options. Unexpectedly, you'll even see some stuff on clearance, too. I found a really cool Daredevil shirt. Yes, some of this stuff you can find online, but it's here for your convenience and you can physically touch and see these items. That's what is so cool about this store. They have so much for you to choose from, items of which I didn't even know existed. If I was a teenager again, I'd probably be requesting to work here for a summer job. Their staff is very helpful and friendly. If you're a pro fanboy, been out of the comic book game, or lacking a clue while just shopping for someone, ask them a question about what you're looking for and what's new. They'll be very direct, for example, if it is kid friendly (most comics cater to a mature audience) and what trade paperback might be good to introduce a fan of the DC and Marvel movies. Parking is easy. Chain or not, they're still a really cool place to get your comics fix. Check it out. read more

Excellent! They treated us very well. The salesman was professional and knew where everything was. We had a request for a certain comic they didn't have and he even called around Houston for us. He was very informative and patient. I ended up spending a lot in this store. Very clean and organized. Good neighborhood. Well lit. Excellent choices. They have so much more then anyone else. I've been to a couple of comic stores, this is the best one, hands down. The selection is awesome. It's well organized, clean and easy to figure out what you want without feeling out of place. The people that work here are really friendly and really well informed about their comics. If you have any questions at all, they will have your answers! I love that they have classics here but that they also have newer things. They play good music, it's well lit, and it's fun! I found so many gift ideas for young and old. There is another Bedrock closer to my house but I think this one is the best. read more

I've came to this store many times and had a great experience but on this time had a horrible experience where I was publicly embarrassed bc I was shamed by the 2 males employees just for asking how old the cashier was that was cash me out was. I was literally kicked out the store bc of this question? I don't think that is appropriate but I spent well over $150 on Pokémon cards and was treated like absolute shit for the next hour just bc of it. Cool Comic Book Shop Cool building. Mostly new items, very very few vintage toys, and old school action figures. LOTS of vintage/old comic books however. Yet another location of the best damn comic book story in Houston. I've been to comic book stores all over the United States and Bedrock is right up there with the best of them. Wonderful selection. Super friendly staff. You won't find any Comic Book Guy goons at Bedrock. They also know their geek! I love going in there just to wax poetic about all things comics. I recommend liking them on Facebook, as they have a weekly sale on Monday. Each store hosts a Christmas party that is always a hoot with free food, door prizes and sales. It's honestly no surprise that at a time when most comic book stores are closing, Bedrock is opening new locations. This review goes for all four locations. read more

Unlike my local comic book store, the ladies and gents who work here have great personalities. They do not mind helping or explaining. I had one of the workers go in the back and hunt for magazine storage boxes that I was in need of. I am super impressed with the staff, says a lot about the management. They had everything I was looking for, including some very old Scrooge McDuck comics. The employees were very nice, and the price was only a small amount higher than online. Came from out of state (Pittsburgh, PA) and had to check out this location. Friendly people and lots of great stuff to choose from. Very impressed with their back issues including how they have everything in drawers. Makes it easy to get in and look through which means I'm gonna spend more money. Last night was my first time *ever* entering a comics book store (for myself, not just accompanying a friend). I was feeling a little wary, because I'd heard a lot of stories about these stores being unwelcoming to women or newbies. However, I wasn't the only female patron, and there was also a woman working behind the counter. Moreover, everyone was perfectly polite and helpful, without a trace of condescension as they helped me set up a pull box for a certain series. We even had a conversation about the trajectory of the comics book industry over the 20th century, and it was really interesting. I'd feel comfortable going again and asking them for a primer on getting into some long-running series. read more

Nerd newbie - just a mom with a budding geek and a grown geek. We've been looking at this shop from our seats at the Counter for a long time now and been meaning to come in. I was already happy to see such a good business in the neighborhood, but now I'm happy to be a customer. This place has anything and everything and is great for collectors or someone looking for just a cool Tardis gift or random t-shirt. I love comics. Yes, a girl geek is me. I used to go to Nan's, find what I need and leave. But at Bedrock City, they often check to see if I'm doing ok (which may be annoying to some, but hey, they know you exist!), and even better, they give suggestions and story plots, etc! They have the usual action figures, and single-issue comic books/magazines--even having an indie section! What I thought cool, too, was their extensive shirt collection. I could not tear myself away but finally, my grumbling stomach prevailed. They are in the same complex as Washington Family Practice which was my original intent for stopping by. I'm glad I now can knock out two birds with one trip! :) In my 'hood, definitely needing a return visit. read more

Probably my favorite of the many Bedrocks! What makes this location better to me than the other Bedrocks, is service, the associates are really attentive, not going to name which one, but some of the other locations have the buy your stuff and leave quickly feel to it. I don't plan on being there for hours on end, but I feel not-as-welcomed at the other locations. This location may not the inventory, notice I said inventory and not selection, like the Westhiemer location, but what they do have is essentials, the must reads and haves for any comic book readers. No frills, no fluff, just what you need, and that is more than enough. Like all Bedrocks, this location has an awesome selection to toys and statues. There has been many time I've contemplated about not eating for a week to buy a Sideshow. If premium statues aren't to your taste or budget, then they have plenty of designer vinyl collectibles such KidRobot and Pop figures that'll bring out the inner kid in you. Another selling point for this location is the quick access to a major freeway, unlike like the other Bedrocks. Don't get me wrong it's not deal breaker, but taking less than 5 minutes to get to the freeway is a bonus. read more

first i will admit, i don't really buy comics. BUT being the wife of an avid comic book junkie, I have been to all the major stores in the houston area. and this place is sooooo much more organized and friendly/knowledgeable, and least pretentious store of them all. Nans and third planet are sooooo messy and disorganized it's overwhelming. bedrock brings order to chaos. they also host music events and have lots of cool artist signing and other stuff the other stores don't do. and as for selection, my husband thinks they are consistently the best. read more
