I was dumbfounded and asked why he was treating me so rudely. He said that he didn't have to treat me with respect; that it was his prerogative. He was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely took the time to explain the different mattresses and what made each one unique. My partner and I first came in about a week ago, and Brandol listened to everything we were looking for, including our sleeping preferences. We were still shopping around and weren't ready to make a decision, but he never once made us feel pressured. Instead, he wanted us to feel confident and comfortable with our purchase, especially because a mattress is a big investment. He even followed up with us afterward to let us know he was available if we had any questions. A week later, we came back with my mom, who was also looking for a new mattress. She is bilingual but prefers Spanish, and to our surprise, Brandol is fluent in Spanish! That made the experience even easier and more comfortable for her. He was incredibly helpful in finding the right mattress for her and made sure we all felt confident in our choices. We had visited another Mattress Firm location as well, and without naming the individual, I will say he could definitely benefit from some training from Brandol. After we mentioned that we had already visited Mattress Firm the week before, we felt very pressured to make a decision. When I asked for pricing, the numbers were literally written down on a sticky note. Needless to say, the experience was night and day compared to Brandol's professionalism and customer service. She made the experience quick, easy, and painless! As someone who's worked in retail, I know those roles can be tough and patience can wear thin, but she was so bubbly and kind. I was already having a rough morning and truly appreciated her kindness! Also, I love that Macy's still stocks Papyrus stationary/cards (carousels of the cards are near the returns' desk) - it's so hard to find them anywhere and they have a great selection!

I went into Macy's for the first time in years to buy a good pair of sneakers. The selection was…read morenot great, but I finally settled on a pair of Nike sneakers for about $70. Unfortunately, after only wearing them for about a day and a half, the bottom of the shoe started coming apart while I was out on a walk. I had to walk home with the sole flapping around. I brought them back to Macy's two days after purchasing them, expecting a simple return for a defective product. Instead, the process was frustrating. The cashier who originally sold me the shoes was the one handling the return, but I still had to explain the situation. She then brought out another employee, who inspected the shoes and I again explained that they were purchased just two days earlier and were clearly defective. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. She then had to go check with someone else, and both employees disappeared into the back for several minutes before finally processing the credit. A defective product can happen, but how a company handles the situation matters. This was not a customer-friendly experience, and it certainly did not make me feel valued as a customer. This was my first time physically shopping at a department store in years since I usually shop online. Unfortunately, this experience makes me much less likely to return to Macy's. I am also still waiting to confirm that the refund was issued correctly, since the receipt appears to show a card number that does not match the card I used for the purchase. I hope that gets resolved without further hassle. Not a good way to win back customers.

Sleep Number does have a great product and concept. I also appreciate that the franchise is not…read morepushy or gimmicky, yet has some great sales and rewards. Our sales associate Laura was lovely, welcoming and took her time allowing us to test all the mattresses and find our specific sleep 'numbers.' The largest downfall or complaint we have is that if you buy one of their mattresses, you're basically required to purchase a Sleep Number base, frame, mattress pad and sheets due to their style and function. Without their bed frame, you will have to completely dismantle it (no joke--we had to replace our original one to buy another non-Sleep Number frame, then saw off the second/new bed frame's piece that holds up a normal mattress). Sadly, the Sleep Number bed frames and headboards are ugly. Also without their specific sheets or protective pad (which I do recommend to keep integrity and cleanliness that lasts), others' purchased elsewhere will become loose, slipping constantly and/or come off all together. Of course it is a large investment with these additional purchases. Nonetheless, our sleep is essential and we spend hours of our lives in bed. I do love the features Sleep Number offers such as feet or full body warmers/coolers, the raising of the foot and head of the bed, a split bed option, and tech features that measure your sleep patterns, heart rate, etc. The one thing I would love to see available is connectivity to Google's Alexa or Apple Home via the app.

I live in the Santa Barbara area and it took 2 weeks to get an out of area representative from Sleep Number corporate. Once the repairman arrived and examined my completely deflated and mattress he announced " in my 5 years of working with Sleep Number I have NEVER seen anything like this, I will advocate for total replacement" I called the corporate number I was given.... They proposed I pay 35% of the costs to repair. I protested and they hung up on me. I never heard from them again. My only remedy appeared to be a small claims court filing. I considered it but decided to forego the aggravation. I have since learned from others they had similar experiences with Sleep Number and went back to traditional mattress. The salesperson we worked with, Bruce, was helpful, informative and friendly and did not pressure at all. I feel like the prices were reasonable (even with some upgrades we wanted to reduce sound between levels). We were very happy with the service of all the sales team we interacted with and their efforts to coordinate our installation in a short time. The installation crew was great as well. They were on time, professional and fast with their installation. It looks great! I will happily be back when we need any carpet in the future. They also have a nice selection of unique area carpets. The kids absolutely love the plush purple carpet we got for their room!
