I called for the SB S&S to install two screen doors after evaluating four other vendors. I found the SB S&S estimate to be the most reasonable. Doug came right on time, I very much appreciate that, to measure the doors. After he finished, I called the office and told them I am ready to put a deposit and to place me on the installation schedule. They checked and they were able to schedule me within 5 calendar days. My mom has been having difficulty sleeping due to ambient light leaking into her bedroom. I considered various ways to block the light coming in from the window, including installing a pull down screen along with light blocking drapes to block any residual light leakage. I visited the store and spoke with Joe, the owner, who was very knowledgeable, having been in this business for many years. Joe recommended a more cost effective solution. Within a short time they had an installer visit my home, take custom measurements and install a top quality light blocking blind. My mom is sleeping much better now. This shop carries Hunter Douglass shades which are US made and meet stringent GREENGUARD standards for low chemical emissions, unlike the less expensive Chinese shades sold online or home improvement stores which can cause a variety of health issues. This locally owned company is excellent in all ways. My shutters and blinds are perfectly installed. It was a pleasure to work with Steve and the other staff. Worth the wait! We ordered Hunter Douglas shutters in July and they were just installed today, wow! So beautiful. When they said it would only take 2 hours to install shutters for 4 windows, I couldn't believe it. Doug showed up right on time, built the frames in the driveway and then installed each one quickly and beautifully. The nail holes are invisible. And it took less than two hours. We are so impressed! On time, done correctly and beautiful product, what more can you ask? He also made sure I knew how to operate the shutters (a few tricks!), clean and maintain them, and register for the warranty. Oh and did I mention I got a text for the appointment with a picture of Doug so I knew who to expect, nice touch! I had a really great experience at Santa Barbara Screen & Shade! First off, I loved that it was family owned. It was clear that customer service was of the upmost importance to the new husband and wife owners. I was greeted by a very friendly woman named Asia as soon as I walked in. From the start I knew I was speaking to people with experience. I learned that the owner had been working in the window covering business for many years and was able to show me the real ins and outs of every shade I looked at. The shop was laid out really well, with an impressive showroom and so many window coverings to look at and try out. One entire wall included hundreds of fabric and material samples to look at. I sat down on a cozy couch and browsed the many colors and styles. They showed me another small showroom that they were putting up drapery and accessories, and I was excited because that would be my next project! I also asked about replacing a couple of screens that had been damaged at my house, and I was surprised when they let me know they handmade screens just out back. I spent a good hour and half at the shop, never felt rushed, and was able to take my time in selecting what I wanted. I couldn't be happier with my choice to visit this store. I. Brought shade in for repair and waited weeks. I finally decided to have a new one made elsewhere. I came in and retrieved the broken shade after they had it for a month ! I forgot the experience, and dicided to get a shade made for my kitchen. They did come on time on a Monday, but never got back with a bid in 4 days. When I stopped in to inquire, the young woman was confused, and not apologetic. Then, the bid comes by e-mail. They do not seem to care about a small job, so I will go elsewhere.
