We went on a Thursday night around 5. Plenty of space, there were only 2 other families there. Food 3/5: the ribs and brisket were dry and did not have much flavor. We got the end of the brisket they were currently cutting, so likely had been cut hours before and left which likely lead it to be dry. The chicken was ok, not much flavor and was on the drier side. The sausage was the best option we tried, good balance of flavor. The cornbread was also dry. The potato salad had good flavor. The Mac and cheese was the best thing we tried. I'd comeback for the sausage and Mac and cheese. Service 3/5: this is an order at the counter and sit down style. We had never been here before and overall did not feel helped when we were ordering. The staff just started at us and asked what we wanted instead of helping us walk through the steps of how to order (meat first and then you choose your sides). It got challenging because there was a growing line and many of us felt the same way of not really knowing what to order. I had to ask for extra plates for our kiddos, and was a little confused about extra condiments and things that were available in the restaurant. Ambiance 4/5: the restaurant was clean and plenty of places to sit. We were in the restaurant with another family with kids, and our kiddos ended up doing friendly dinosaur roads to the family across the restaurant. We all had a really good laugh. Overall most of the meat was dry but we liked some of the sides. The staff could have been more helpful in ordering. This is a kid friendly restaurant in our experience and had plenty of room to accommodate larger parties. read more

See that bark on the brisket in the pictures on their webpage? Yeah I did too so I tried this place out. What I got in reality was a microwaved (or maybe boiled?) pound of brisket instead. Tasted terrible - wish I would have just lit my $90 on fire so I'd at least get 15 seconds of enjoyment from it. Judge for yourself from the picture below. Solid BBQ resturaunt and they also sell frozen cuts of meat. Got beef brisket, collards, mac and cheese and sweet corn bread. You can tell how good a place is by their collard greens and theirs can hold their own. Big chunks of pork and the right amount of heat. They were a little more sweeter then I like, but that's more to my personal taste. Sweet ice tea was on point. Cornbread tasted homemade and brisket was tender, flavorful and had the pink smoke ring. The BBQ is sweet and spicy ( not to my taste, but if you like a kick- you will enjoy it.) The only negative and thus 4 stars was the mac and cheese, it just had a weird aftertaste like a cheese sauce from a can. Service was quick and waitstaff were super nice. Ordered for take out we got brisket and a 3 meat plate. We had the pork cheddar jalapeño sausage. Side we got were beans corn bread chili mac n cheese. So I have to say the meats were delicious moist and not dry. Good smoke but not over bearing. The beans really like them plan to adapt my recipe a lil as I really liked the apple in them. I'm did not like all the spices though. The chili was yummy And with the brisket in it just made it pop. Staff was nice on the phone and same when we got to the store. Stop by after getting in from the Airport, it was close by and was craving bbq. Now I don't expect Texas bbq or anything fancy but it was a bit of a let down. I got the brisket and ribs combo. The brisket was ok had good flavor and not dry but the ribs probably the worst I ever had it was so dry I couldn't eat it, even after dipping it in their sweet bbq sauce (which was good). The mac n cheese and apple pie beans were good though. The service was very friendly and fast. Not sure I come back due to the ribs, maybe take it off menu or do weekends only to sustain quality. Still give this place five stars. A great BBQ place on the North side of Madison. The side dishes have improved since I was there last. The potato salad and coleslaw were very good as well as the brisket. There is a huge freezer case near the counter that's full of frozen food if you need to take some home. This restaurant has survived a few years now and has a pretty decent clientele. We have even got an order of just a brisket to take home the main dish for dinner parties, it's that good. read more

We had an early lunch today and all I can say is we were not at the least bit impressed. The ribs and brisket tasted old and were luke warm, the wings were the worst I have ever had looked to have been deep fried,no taste should have been called wing bones for the lack of any meat. I will give it the" two step" experience rating. Should probably be two steps from the bathroom after you eat. Service was also great, quick, and they offered to check the back when we asked if there were any ribs left. I got the smoked sausage with 2 sides (mac n cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy). In my opinion, the smoked sausages were too salty for my preference (my dining party also agreed) and the mashed potatoes were a tad too stiff. My coworker and I both got the same restaurant week special which was a huge portion of brisket with a local brat and two sides. The brisket was incredible, great smoke, great rub, outstanding flavor. The brat was fantastic as well. I had the baked apple baked beans, very unique flavor, and the kettle chips were very good.
