Service: 5 stars -- I made a reservation for a birthday and they went above and beyond! Aside from the celebration, our group (ages toddler-SR) also had a food allergy to consider. They called me back the day of to confirm our plans. Since time is limited, waiters checked in often and cleared our table, ensuring we got our orders. We did have a slight hiccup with the QR ordering but I think it was on our end (me, forgetting to confirm order after selecting items). They were so kind to take those verbally to the kitchen. As we were finishing, they brought out a delicious Japanese cheesecake (with candle and all) and sung HBD! The cheesecake was from Le C's (they're affiliated with them! :D ) and served ~8 ppl at no extra cost. Ambience: 4 stars -- Exposed brick, high ceilings with mixed metals and woods decorated the space. This is the first time I've seen and used a retractable bbq hood! Even with all the grills going, the space felt light and airy. The gold dishware and chandeliers added elegance and luxury, and K-pop music kept everyone upbeat. The only downside is they have two floors, but no elevator. We got the only table with double grills (on 2nd floor) and the rest have a single grill. Food: 3 stars (for Madison) -- My favorite menu items were the fried chicken (perfect crunch, tasty & tender), pork belly, beef bulgogi, galbi, and kimchi soup! I would not recommend the lemon pepper shrimp (tiny & over-seasoned) and a bit sad I failed to try any other seafood items. Japchae was a bit off - not very flavorful and the noodles used were clear/glass but wide and gummy). Meat options were plenty, branchan/side items (self-service) were limited and mediocre, along with a basic sauce station. Kiddos loved the KFC, dumplings, and udon! They also got ice cream for dessert -- Sysco cups FTW (kiddos love em, me not so much lol). Beverage ops were plenty -- several alcoholic and NA at an extra cost. Overall, this is a great choice for KBBQ newbs. The space is trendy, with excellent staff, but flavors are mild with avg meat quality and basic sides. Would I return tho, YES (unless I've got time to hit up Chicago or S Korea!!! ;P )

There's not a lot of Korean BBQ in Madison, so I was really excited to see this spot open on State Street. Each plate was about 35 per person, with access to a wide selection of pork, seafood, or chicken. There was a counter with a smaller selection of vegetables (including chili cucumbers, mushrooms, lettuce, fruit, seaweed, kimchi and sauces). You can order rice, potstickers, and other sides in addition to the barbecue. We really like the beef Bulgogi the best. The chicken and shrimp were good too. The meats all seemed very fresh. In terms of the space, it was cool to be in a lofted area above State Street. I like that everything was super clean, including the tables, the grill, the vegetable station, and the bathrooms. Staff came and changed out our grill a few times which was helpful. The grill itself was easy to use and worked well. Service was the only thing that we thought was a little odd. I think the staff may be checked on us too much. Also they suggested that we order different types of meat instead of the same one we kept ordering (beef bulgogi), I'm not sure if they were running out or what, but I thought that was a little odd. There is a 20% food waste charge service fee is automatically added on depending on the number of people at a table. Overall, good experience, really clean, food was great, but service was a little odd

Coming in, the place was aesthetically pleasing. The servers were attentive and polite. This was our first time here and though this was not our first KBBQ, the workers explained how their resultant works. Scan QR code at the table and order. All you can eat. Sodas, beers, and spirits were extra. The side open bar was filled with kimchi, radish, soups and more. Overall, the food was great. Our favorites were the spicy Bulgogi, Hawaiian Bulgogi, and Cajun shrimp. Sadly I did not take pictures of the meat selections, but they were pretty good. Some of the steak choices came without any sauce, which was OK because there is sauce at the condiment bar.

There was plenty left over. The food was delivered 21 minutes away, arriving exactly at the promised time, 100% complete, with some trays still too hot to touch. I included bread & supplies with the order, and the delivery included plenty of serving spoons & tongs, utensils, plates, & napkins. Brisket and sauce were fantastic. The chicken needs work--dry and low flavor. The hamburger buns were very bready and big, too big for many. The sides were fun and interesting new flavors. The slaw was tasty-tangy but very white--challenging those who like their vegetables green. Sorry folks. The beans were super popular. I would get them again, all of those sides. But the chicken...you might go in and taste-test it first. On the front end, it was so easy to arrange for this catering through the website and email. The communication was prompt and accurate. Changes, inquiries, and payment were handled seamlessly. I arranged for this food from long distance, and Beef&Butter really came through. It's a little more expensive than some other Madison options but in the end I was really happy to support this business and the people running it. I wish them great success in the future.

Sides were pretty good too. However, I have to say the brisket was a bit of a disappointment - it was way overcooked, like it had been smoked at too high of a temperature. It was edible but really dry. Just overcooked or held too long. Had to douse it in sauce to eat it which is a total shame. Would have been a 5 star rating if not for the brisket. I'd come back again, maybe when they were busier.

Online ordering was very easy and the food was ready right on time! We got the smoked pork shoulder sandwich platter with coleslaw and corn bread bites and the spicy chicken breast sandwich platter with baked beans and Mac & Cheese. The buns they use for these sandwiches are a great texture and hold up well to the amount of meat and sauce that you want on a BBQ sandwich. It never felt soggy, which is rare around the area. The pork was flavorful with a very fine shred. I wouldn't say the chicken was spicy as said on the menu, but more peppered. The real star is the bbq sauce because it comes out warm and is thin enough to pour but has enough texture to stick to the meat. Went well with everything from the meats, to the Mac & Cheese, to the corn bread bites. The corn bread bites were the stand out side, kind of like a hush puppy. Would recommend at least one person in your group gets them. I even liked them topped with the baked beans. Overall, very tasty food and nice people working. After hearing so many great things about this place over the years, it's about time I got there. Lived up to all the hype!

First I should say I judge a barbecue joint by its ribs. That's it. I have had barbecue all over…read morethe country and smoke a mean rib myself. These ribs were as good as any I've had around the country, and better than most. Some places brag about "fall of the bone tender." To me that is overcooked. Ribs should be "fairly easily coaxed off the bone tender. The need a little bit of chew to them or the are too dry. Smokey Jon's ribs were just right. Now the rest. The barbecue beans were very good. I put a little brisket burnt ends in when I make them. That would have improved these to top notch. I usually shy away from barbecue joint mac and cheese but I ordered it here. Hey, I'm in Wisconsin. It's got to be at least ok. It was better than just ok. It had a generous amount of cheese and the symtickiness that good Mac and cheese must have. For my taste, it had too much garlic. I'm a big garlic fan. When I see a recipe that says "one clove of garlic," I figure it's a misprint and they meant "one head of garlic." Here, they used powdered garlic, and I feel like the amount they used covered up the natural sweetness of the cheese. The ambiance of the place was spot on. I am visiting Madison, from Oregon (Go Ducks!) Driving by the place it looks like they've got to have at least passible 'cue. Inside it was classic back woods barbecue chic. "Log cabin" looking interior walls, red and white checkered plastic table cloths, and great old school blues on the sound system. Is this place perfect? No, won't get that until you pass through the Pearly Gates. But it's about as good as your going to get anywhere else, unless you come over to my back yard on 4th of July.

The place had a decent lunch crowd, but was by no means packed, so we figured it would be quick to get food for the kids. Our waitress came to get our drink order pretty quick, but then service slowed for receiving our drinks, ordering food, getting our food, and getting her attention for a to-go box and our bill. As for the food, we ordered the Bangor, which had shrimp and haddock and choice of two sides where we chose the corn muffins and beans. We also got the Nashville hot chicken sliders with sweet potato fries, kids chicken tenders, and kids burger with fries. The kids meals were both quite generous portions, especially the chicken tenders. The tenders were nice and juicy with a crisp exterior and one of the best things ordered. The kids burger was overly charred and had a little burnt taste, so the child wouldn't eat it and ended up eating the shrimp from the other meal instead. The Nashville hot sliders were decent sandwiches and quite large, but were by no means Nashville hot, more like somewhere between mild to medium spice. The sweet potato fries were great though and went well with their bbq sauces. The fish and shrimp received mixed reviews from the two people that ordered it. The corn muffins were definitely something that we would get again and also worked great with the bbq sauces. Overall, it was fine with some good and some not so good. The price is a little higher than some restaurants with similar offerings, but the portions are quite large, so maybe that's the tradeoff. Not sure if this is going to get added to our rotation, but they did seem to have some good happy hour deals, so maybe for that.

It looked pretty popular with a decent number of people dining in and a bunch of others picking up orders. The girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful because I had no idea how to order lol. She made a few recommendations and even helped adjust my random items into a combo for us. Prices are fair, ordered 3 meats and 2 sides for like ~$50. We got ribs, brisket, and pulled pork along with cornbread and mac and cheese, and it came with a fountain drink. Food came out pretty quickly, we didn't have to wait long. One thing I thought was fun was the bell by the door that you can ring if you had a good experience. We rang it on the way out and got a bunch of cheers from inside haha. The ribs were big, meaty, and cooked well. The brisket wasn't really my favorite, and the pulled pork was a little hit or miss since some bites were way saltier than others. We tried both the mild and spicy bbq sauces, and the spicy wasn't too spicy. Overall, a perfectly solid casual bbq spot.

I think my pulled pork sandwich, two sides (cole slaw and fries) and a drink pushed $17. That's more than I prefer to spend on lunch, but I was going out with some work friends and felt like treating myself. And it was, indeed, a treat! The pulled pork was very good - not overly fatty or anything. Good flavor. I tried the "original" and "sweet city" sauces - both were very good and not overpowering. The fries were good - a little greasy (but "good greasy" if there is such a thing). The creamy cole slaw confused me. It was a bit dry. I know, right? How is creamy cole slaw dry? I'm not sure if it's always like this, or maybe it was off the top of the batch and the "creamy" and dripped to lower parts. Don't get me wrong - it tasted good. We'll see how it is next time I'm there! Overall, a good BBQ stop. The pulled pork sandwich will be a standard order there, but I'm sure I'll venture out to some other dishes to see what they have to offer!
