Beer on the wall is such a great concept. So many different beers to buy or to grab on the go. I also saw some malort on the shelf..just saying. The inside is small, so this is great for a group of 4 or less ideally - but they really do make the most out of their space. There's lots of seating around the bar. When it's nice out, they also open the outside area for even more seating, which is nice to see. What I didn't love is that most of the chairs are those godforsaken metal chairs that anyone over 30 years old most likely has beef with (or is it just me?). also adding, this may have just been the time we went but oh god there were so many kids running around in there. It honestly took away from the vibe. With the kids and the chairs, we unfortunately could only do one drink here. Would love to check it out when it's more of an adults only time. read more

Not sure why I never reviewed this place and I've been here several times since moving to this town five years ago. What's great about this place? Is that during the winter? They are obviously open and have seating inside and then during summer they actually open a part of their exterior wall like a garage door and there's also barstool type seating there as well so you can enjoy the great weather and the sun while still drinking whatever you purchased from them. They have an incredible selection in the store and every single time I walk in here whoever is working is super friendly and super helpful. I will say when you walk in it's not really straightforward because you can buy things and take it home buy things and drink it there or they even have beers on tap as well at the big counter. My husband and I went to Beer on the Wall to meet up with some friends. I found this to be a delightful and laid back spot to get a drink and share some laughs. This concept is different than other bars in the area. You can buy craft beer from the tap or buy alcohol by the can or bottle from the refrigerator section and enjoy in the bar or on the patio. There was a large crowd when we came on a Sunday afternoon. There are snacks available for sale as well, although these are not as impressive as the beer and wine selections. My beer was fruity while my husband chose a very sour beer. You can get samples before choosing a your drink. There are tables and chairs setup inside, along with a vdeo game area. During the summer months, there is an outside patio that you can sit out on to enjoy the summer weather and the downtown vibes. I can't wait to come back and try more of their selections. Beer on the Wall is located right in the middle of downtown Arlington Heights. They have a very large refrigerated beer case to display individual cans from local breweries throughout the midwest. Cans seemed to be grouped by brewery with the exception of seltzers and ciders. They also have some rotating beers in tap which are displayed on the screen above the bar/check out area. Additionally, they have some liquor and beer packs for sale but are to go only. They have a decent amount of seating inside and outside. Our group got a milkshake ipa, sour, and cider to enjoy on a sunny evening outside. The hard part with the beer case is that there is no way to sample the beers before purchasing. It's a tough call to get something new or a favorite go to. I specifically got a cider and the selection was pretty basic. I wish they had been more seltzers or even cocktails in a can that I could buy to drink there. Either way, it is a fun concept and a more inexpensive way to enjoy a quick drink. If ever in the area, at least stop by to take a look around! read more

A super chill place for a drink! I've passed by Beer on the Wall millions of times before ever actually stepping in. It's an interesting concept - it's not like a typical bar with a server, but instead you order at the counter and bring your drink with you back to any table inside or outside (you can still start a tab, though, which is nice). We came here for a drink before dinner which was the perfect place to do so. I wish I remember the exact drink I got, but it was a 7% seltzer with vanilla, pineapple, and lychee flavors. It was DELICIOUS! Probably the best and most unique seltzer I've ever had. The employee who took my order was awesome and super informative when I told her it was my first time here. It was POPPIN and this place definitely gets busy when it's nice out and on weekends. I will definitely try Beer on the Wall again! read more

We'd never been to Beer on the Wall. In fact, before walking in, I'd never heard of it before. We were participating in a painting class about a block away, where they encouraged you to bring your wine. Of course, we forgot, so I walked to this place to buy a couple of bottles of wine. When they say "Beer on the Wall," they truly have a lot of beer. There is some seating, and there is also seating at the bar. Toward the back, there are shelves with wine and liquor. In several places, you will find beer. For us, it was wine. Their selection is small, but they have some nice bottles. Their prices are a little higher than a regular liquor store, but not outrageous. I was also impressed with the bourbons they carry After a few minutes, I bought two bottles. We couldn't stay, but everyone we saw seemed to be having fun. We plan to return in the next few weeks to enjoy sitting at the bar and enjoying ourselves. read more

Cool concept. It's not really clear how the pricing works for the bottles and cans. The prices on their QR code are for take out only. You add $4 if you are drinking the beer on site. It was pretty crowded as lots of parents bring their babies and young children which is a change up I was not expecting. But the beer selection cannot be beat (a couple hundred). Overall the Arlington heights location was a good experience,based on food ,service as well as the ambiance.. HOWEVER...I did have a rather unpleasant experience with a member of staff ,it included a despicable remark ,a homophobic statement which this man must be living in another era to speak to anyone the way he did to me,I am still outraged the way I was spoken to,the words chosen by him ,while (BTW) I was in the company of someone very important to me.embarrasing. This was escalating & I did speak with management,& they seemed Professional in their response to this ,and appeared like myself to be outraged .I was assured this would be addressed immediately. Which I found comforting. The man's name was John , John Adini ,or Ardini? Beer on the Wall has a large selection of beers on tap and single cans to purchase. Many are from local breweries, which is a great way to support local breweries. They have seating inside and there is patio seating. There is a walk up window for the patio. The staff were very nice and did not rush us while we were deciding. They have different size options , starting at 4 oz. My 4 oz cider was $ 5.00, a bit expensive, but still a good place to try a variety of beers. read more

I was given a gift card for this beer shop from a co-worker who lives in Park Ridge. I live in Arlington Heights. She said they assured her the card was good at both locations. So I went to the AH shop with giddy hopes of getting some good beer. After making some 4-pack selections I went to the counter and was told the card was only good in Park Ridge. I told them the purchaser was told it was good at both shops and the counter guy said whoever purchased the card was misinformed by the Park Ridge shop. I went to the Park Ridge location today. If you want 4 packs of craft beer that are about $4 more expensive than at the local liquor store, this is the place to visit. read more

Just moved to the area and stopped in Beer on the Wall to pick up some brews as we unpacked. I was blown away by the selection and fair pricing here. On top of it, There were quite a few breweries I had not heard of before, but I really enjoy Hazy IPAs and I asked one of the workers for some recommendations and all of them were wonderful. Over the holidays while visiting family in the burbs, my cousin told me about this bar that lets you take beer home if you like it. (Crazy, right?) I had to check it out. Wow. They have a lot of beer. I mean a lot. It's a nice little bar (a touch too bright for my taste) with limited seating. But back to the beer. I have never seen so many beers before. I think the owner said one of the beers was actually theirs. She let me try it. It was dark and chocolaty. Yum. I hung out and had a couple beers. Finally, I found one I liked and wanted to take it home. But when I took it up to the counter, the man just opened it and poured it in a glass. I was confused cause, I clearly said I wanted to take it home. He apologized and said most people just drink the beers there. He said if I wanted to take it home, I should order it online on their website (didn't know that was possible!). I wish that was more clearly stated in the bar or explained to me, cause I really didn't want to drink that 3rd beer. Well, now I know how it works. It was overall a cool experience, minus the hiccups. It is a little pricey. The female owner said the bar had done so well that she opened up 2 other locations. My wife and I went to brunch in Arlington Heights and decided to take a walk after a fulfilling meal. I'm so glad we did because we stumbled upon this hidden gem. Omg talk about blast from the past. This place has a crazy amount of beer to choose from or you can opt for a glass of wine. After grabbing a drink chill out and talk or play the Nintendo. My wife and I had a blast on date night as we sipped our drinks and played Mario Brothers (a classic from our childhood) we will definitely be back. Love everything about Beer on the Wall! Always have a wide range of beers on tap - everything from a simple kolsch all the way to a BA stout. Not to mention they are constantly getting the best new beers from some of the best local (and not local), breweries on a daily basis. It's over a 30 minute drive from my house to BOTW and I still make the trip at least once a month to pick up some great beers while also enjoying what they have on tap.
