We came in for the tour on a Sunday and it turned out to be a private tour with Amanda. The tour was more of a conversation and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Amanda's energy and passion was outstanding. The tour was about 45 minutes and includes a tasting flight. Since I do not drink bourbon, they allowed my to substitute a drink. There were so many options that I was interested in trying, but after discussing what I like with Amanda, she suggested the Lavender Haze. The lavender syrup is made in house and was sweet, with a floral taste . The drink was excellent. They have open mic nights and live music. They are expanding into the adjacent space in the next few months. It was interesting to hear all of the logistics involved in moving equipment into the new space. We will be back ! read more

Located in a small strip center ,this distillery is a real gem located in Lake Zurich. Staff and owners are super friendly that serves great cocktails and has live music . Unfortunately they do not offer food options but you can bring your own. They make their own Bourbon,Gin ,Vodka and Rum which pairs well with their huge selection of crafted cocktails. The prices for the cocktails are slightly more than one would expect but then again you are not paying any cover charge to hear live music and frankly,they are sooo delicious. We tried the Blood Orange Mai Tai which was a daily special,Banana Rum Old Fashion and a Classic Old Fashion. Can't pick a favorite because they were all our favorites! Cute spot! I tried one of their rum cocktails, and it was very tasty. They have a rather large cocktail menu with all of their spirits. Drinks are $15 and up. Free popcorn. Yay! Service was decent. Definitely check them out. read more

I am not a whiskey person, but my husband is, so this was a great place to go for his birthday. It is such a wonderful spot to check out! I don't inherently like the taste of hard liquor on its own, but here, I felt like it was a good idea to try them. We had our tour, scheduled for an hour at $20. I got a call awhile later apologizing, saying this specific date's tour was with the master distiller and $30 instead, then mentioning what it included. I said that this is more than OK, and I appreciate that she went out of her way to inform me of such changes! The tour itself was fascinating. The tour with the master distiller is an hour and a half, and your flight has five significant pours, served in elegant, faux crystal mini glasses. You don't walk anywhere, because it's all one large room, aside from the bar area when you walk in. You sit on stools and try the pours, while listening and talking to the distiller. I forgot his name, but he is terrific. You can tell that he cares deeply about the liquor that they produce here, and he went into the science behind how whiskey is made, even discussing the specific chemical reactions. He was gracious and answered a variety of our questions (it was another couple and us, nice and small). He even had us take a whiff of the fermentation tanks! We were not driving, and you should truly avoid it here given their generous pours, so we tried a bit more after the tour. I was curious about the gin, and the only flight that included the varieties of gin also had rum, vodka, and two whiskey types. It was quite a range! I didn't finish it, because I wasn't trying to throw up later (lightweight alert), but each was unique. My husband had more of their Fiddle Bourbon on the rocks - it was one of the varieties in the tasting. He and I both thought it had some caramel flavor hidden in there. The bartender was so sweet and we loved talking to her. I'm sorry that I don't have her name either, but it's a small enterprise, and everyone here is a class act. read more

Stopped by Copper Fiddle for a cocktail with family. We ordered a round of drinks. This visit, I was not overly impressed with the uniqueness of the drinks on menu and quality of service like last visit. I was sad to see there weren't any seasonal specials. They did offer us complimentary popcorn but our visit was cut short by live music entertainment that took over the noise levels of the front bar. Since we couldn't hear each other anymore, we finished our drinks and left. I left feeling bummed. read more

A true distillery in Lake Zurich? What? Run, don't walk. You need to try this place. Don and Andrew spent time talking to us about their products and menu. They use sugar in the raw (aka demerara) They also do a level four in their barrels of bourbon. Found out about this place by word of mouth. How did we not know about it before? They make their own bourbon, rum (gold and silver), and I think gin. Covid: everybody wears a mask unless you are drinking; Social distancing; several tables and chairs spread out in their back room. Place your order from your table. They will bring you your drinks. I like how they pour glasses of water upon arrival. Don't forget to grab a bag of popcorn all complimentary. Very nice! Hubby tried their old fashioned and I tried their mai tai and espresso martini. All delicious. We will be back for sure. read more

We came out early evening to try this place and we were very pleased. They have a small entryway but a larger seating room behind the counter. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was great! It was the best Old Fashioned I ever had. As we sat in the sitting room a person brought us small bags of popcorn (NEVER had that in any other distillery). My wife had a Mai Tai and loved their recipe. The prices are reasonable for a very high quality drink. We met Andrew and were so impressed. We will be back again. read more

What a fun place! I went to watch my daughter do a quick practice before their Friday night open mic and ended up staying for some fun and great music! My daughter and her ukulele-playing accompanists stayed to perform. And what a surprise when I saw my own bass-playing significant other up on the stage wearing a borrowed bass guitar playing with some people we didn't know! The cocktails were amazing! My Meetup group just did the distillery tour and tasting here this past Saturday and we had a blast! The signature cocktails are amazing (who knew you could make mules with bourbon?!) and the "tour" was so fascinating and informational. And can I just say, that I HATE gin, but their gin is so good, I left with a bottle of their Fyren Gin. Seriously, book your $10 tour/tasting and come back another night for some live music. This place is awesome and I can't wait to have another event here ... maybe for a bartending class? (because they offer that too). Seriously, Copper Fiddle can take my money anytime. read more

I've been wanting to visit this distillery for a while and decided to come here on a whim. I visited with my significant other on a Saturday afternoon. The parking lot is not very large, but parking was not a problem. We walked in and we were the only ones in the bar as there was a distillery tour was going on and that's where everyone was. Copper Fiddle has a wide variety of cocktails for $9. I believe there was around 16. My significant other ordered a cocktail and I ordered a flight of their spirits to sample each of them. I enjoyed all of them. The Serrano pepper "Fyren Gin" was the most memorable as it is different from many other liquors with the heat it packed. All of the cocktails were delicious. They also have a nice cocktail happy hour as well during the work week. The other plus was the complimentary popcorn to go with the different drinks. Our mixologist was very nice and told us about the business and the history of Copper Fiddle. The drinks were excellent as well. Overall, I will definitely be back here in the future. read more

Great service. Good live music. The problem is the over-worked cocktails. Too many ingredients that just did not balance well. The mule was very lime forward without hint of ginger beer, the old fashioned was more like a Manhattan on the rocks. The specialty old fashioned and other 3 cocktails we tried had maybe one too many syrups or cordials that added an odd artificial taste to the drinks. Had high hopes for this place but it was a bit of a bummer. Would be happy to go back just to hang out but would stick to something simple. read more

Cute little distillery in Lake Zurich that has live music, tastings and tours. The tours are on Saturday at 2:00 and 4:00 for $10 which includes a tasting. You can also just walk in at any time and do a tasting of the different liquors that they have. I really enjoyed the Gin as it was not really junipery but had some nice botanical flavors. They also have a Tom Gin that is aged in barrels that was not as good in my opinion as the straight gin. They also have a bourbon, a rum and an aged rum. I really enjoyed the Bourbon and the aged rum, but that is all personal preference. They do have about 16 mixed drinks that all sound good, but I feel like the execution is slightly sub par. There was no measuring during the drink making, which might be good if you want more alcohol than you would normally get, but it didn't make for a balanced taste. The bartender was very nice and spent time talking to us and answering all of our questions. Definitely a nice place to stop in and try the different liquors and maybe buy a bottle of your favorite. read more

Copper Fiddle is probably my favorite discovery in the burbs this year. It's such a wonderful gem tucked away in Lake Zurich! The only upset for me is that I live an hour away. The distillery itself is very homey feeling. A great mix of the Copper Fiddle history and brand along with the equipment of a running distillery. When you walk in you'll see a rustic decorated bar area with small round tables and a large rectangle table perfect for a big group. Keep heading back and there will be a door that leads to the warehouse-ish part with the distillery equipment, tall boy tables, and a great space they use for live music. Travis the bartender is pure genius when it comes to mixing cocktails. I've literally never seen someone treat the craft as such an art form. Not only are his drinks delicious, but it's entertaining to see him concoct such masterpieces. One of the drinks he made us even involved setting ingredients on fire! Of course the base of each drink is Copper Fiddle's delicious gin or bourbon (which currently can only be bought at their distillery - that alone is worth the trip!). They have a small cocktail list, but Travis can surprise you with a drink or make whatever you'd like. Fred and Jose are the owners and they're awesome. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the biz. If you live in the area (or even if you dont!) be sure to stop by this fantastic bar and distillery that we're lucky enough to have in the suburbs. I came with the Yelp crowd and it's no frills, nothing too fancy. It's all about the drinks. Two gins and the bourbon whiskey. Now I have never had gin in my life, so I was sailing into new waters. First, I had an old-fashioned with the bourbon whiskey and was surprised how potent it was. Even with the orange slice and cherry, it still packed a good punch. The owners were generous enough to give me a free sample of each drink and it's amazing how flavorful they are. They just warm you up inside! Travis, the mixologist, was amazing. I asked him to surprise me. He asked if I wanted sweet or sour and what I usually drank. I said sweeter side and I drink medium-bodied beers and a little red wine. Well, 15 ingredients and 10 minutes later, I had a tall rocks drink that we named the Knickerbocker, in honor of my NYC roots. Dark red on the bottom, with a little bit of electric blue on top. It had both gins, Madagascar vanilla, apple, kiwi, cinnamon, sugar, shoot I don't know what it didn't have! But everything came together so well. It was a wonderful drink. Probably the only reason I might not go back is because it's an hour drive from my house. But it was a really fun experience and even coming from someone who doesn't drink much of the hard stuff, I would recommend this distillery. read more

I must admit I was a bit skeptical when we walked into the place and they had such a limited selection of choices, but WOW.....the magic a talented mixologist can do with those three basic ingredients. Passed by this place a hundred times on the way to hockey in buffalo grove. Always wanted to stop. Finally stopped today (Sunday May 16th). Got there right at opening-2pm. Our bartender was Don. Awesome guy and awesome spirits. I'm a bourbon guy- they have a bourbon. Obviously not "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey" but what's the hell? It was great! And they're Rye? Equally great! Had the pleasure of visiting the Copper Fiddle (through Yelp's Suburban Born & Bred events) last night. Don't know how to express how enjoyable the evening was. First, the Copper Fiddle Gin and Bourbon are hand made and homemade, and exceptional. Second, the drinks that Travis (a superior bartender) made us, were memorable and enjoyable. Third, the establishment itself has a very comfortable and homey feel. This is a place I plan to visit regularly. I particularly enjoyed Travis' bourbon Journey. A drink that transforms itself over time based on the unique ingredients he adds which evolve and emerge while you drink it slowly. I highly recommend it. But enjoy it slowly.
