First off, the vibes are immaculate when you walk in. Literally feels like I'm not in Columbia MO and in LA. The atmosphere was electric, we waited a bit longer for our food then expected but we didn't mind! We got to experience it since we did take out. The food was very good and the person who took our order was very friendly - we had a lamb breakfast burrito (the beets in it ARE SOO GOOD) and a falafel wrap (no beets but still yum). My one star off is because there weren't any menus except an online one and there wasn't pricing or ingredients ANYWHERE. I think most entree-level items were $14ish but I think it's irresponsible for a restaurant to not tell the customers how much things cost straight up. Additionally, with the lack of ingredients, I ended up getting cilantro on something that I wouldn't have guessed had cilantro in it. I hate cilantro and would have asked for it to be left off - if there had been a menu, I would have known to ask! Food is a little higher on the price range for casual dining but you get your money's worth. Only con is they do drizzle oil okay everything which can make it a bit much sometimes. It's unassuming and the sign is practically nonexistent, but I was told about it by a couple different people; so I decided to check it out. It did not disappoint! It wasn't more expensive than any other restaurant in downtown Columbia. It was incredibly fresh and interesting to eat. If you're ever in the mood to travel across the world and eat incredible food but you're in a small(ish) town in the middle of the US, go to Beet Box. Also, the workers and (I think) the owner that welcomed me in the door looked me in the eyes and talked to me, which for those of us in wheelchairs is refreshing. Everything that I've ever ordered here has been fantastic. Amanda and Ben come up with some of the most creative and varied menus I've seen and somehow all of their food is amazing. They have hands down the best falafel I've ever had. Their cruffins are as good as anything Dominique Ansel makes. Went tonight for dinner and was not disappointed! They have various Middle Eastern dishes bursting with flavors of turmeric, ginger, and pepper. We tried the hummus bowl, shawarma, and za'atar fries along with drinks and dessert. My favorite was the hummus bowl with loaded with egg, hummus, shakshuka, and more. My husband liked the his shawarma wrap and loved the fries! The fries were a little spicy, but not too hot; you get the heat, but the flavors still come through. The prices are comparable to other local places- not super cheap, but not overly expensive plus I'm pretty sure that Beet Box as many compostable/recyclable materials as possible! This is my favorite Saturday lunch spot. They make almost everything in house including the wraps and even marshmallows they use in their hot chocolate. The Beet Box is indeed Columbia's most delicious new restaurant! It's run by quality humans, one of whom I've known since he was 12. We were flat knocked out by our first visit: delicious French-pressed coffee (provided by Fretboard, a stellar local coffee house), a locally-sourced egg and bacon bagel sandwich and a lox and cream cheese bagel sandwich (we splitsy-halfsied), wonderfully garlicky za'atar fries, and three different pastries (a cherry rugelach, a very caramel-y chocolate chip cookie, and another I can't remember what it was but it disappeared instantly. Even the restroom is cool--take a close look at the wallpaper! The space is filled with natural light, and the sound system is controlled by someone in the know. We will be returning frequently (like next week) to try their lunch and dinner! Note: Logboat Brewery is right next door; they just don't serve food, so The Beet Box is perfectly located (Logboat is served in cans in the restaurant, too). read more

I really wanted food from their regular menu but they don't do that on Sundays, just a special brunch menu. Best FRIES in Columbia, I'll start with that. But I'm addition to these perfect crunchy potato sticks, my next favorite go-to is the hummus. Paired with delicious additions like chickpeas in delicious sauce and vegetables, this hummus is Devine. The falafel are enormous and packed full of flavor. The shawarma offers a different freshly cut meat served in a wrap of some any flavors. I've visited twice and each time I leave with a new favorite dish. Wow, what a find we loved Beet Box. Had the Breakfast Burrito with Falafel. All the ingredients are locally sourced and you can taste it. The flavor just pops. The Falafel in the burrito was the best I've ever had, I would definitely recommend it and sized for a King. Berry Pop tarts, are a must for your sweet tooth,another recommendation from them for first timers, boy was I glad I listened. Far from the pop tarts I remembered as a kid, way tastier as an adult. Now to wash it down was the home made Ginger Ale, fresh and refreshing. So if your looking for a great Breakfast or Lunch Spot near the University, this is a must stop! UPDATE - I still eat here very regularly and have exceptional food 7/10 times. TLDR: Just be warned, they often switch up their recipes and what you get might not be what you're expecting. Great people, on a decent mission; just need a little bit of work and consistency. Bodega bacon, egg, and cheese 11/10 - still the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had, though I don't always see it on the menu. Lamb and eggs 8/10 - so so so good, except for when they're not. They have forgotten my eggs twice. I get using and prioritizing seasonal ingredients, but please just stick to the classic! A couple of weeks ago there was this nasty, slimey stuff in the dish, I think it had eggplant in it. Literally don't even know what I was eating. Americano 10/10 - so good! I always mean to ask what kind of espresso they're roasting because it is amazing. Bloody Mary 2/10 - got this at brunch a while back and it was SO bad. Super bitter. I didn't finish it, and I have probably never said no to a drink in my life. Sunday Brunch 4/10 - only did their brunch once because I wasn't a fan. They were serving some type of pozole with egg quesadillas. The quesadillas were delicious, but the stew was not even luke warm! It was missing a lot of its more traditional elements and was not good. The quesadilla was on the small side, so it definitely wasn't worth the $15 a plate or whatever it was. SO... try this place?!?! You will be obsessed! And then maybe disappointed because sometimes they kinda have their heads up their butts. The place is hip looking, but very noisy with little seating. Food prep is open, so you know what's happening. Prices a bit high ($20 for lunch), fries clumpy and too crispy to eat.
