If you like strong coffee with tons of flavor, come here. If you love greek food, come here. Pretty simple. Nice hole-in-the-wall atmosphere and courteous staff. Menu is not huge but what they do, they do extremely well. Definitely going back. read more

Yanis is a great lunch and coffee spot in uptown (JC doesn't have a downtown, we have an "up" town!) Jefferson City. The coffee is strong, the portions are generous, the Greek food is delicious and the service is friendly. Often the owner walks through, greeting customers and asking how they are. These are the best gyros in Jeff City, and the salads are divine. This might read like someone paid me to write it, but I'm just a local state worker who considers this the best lunch in town. read more

"Oh Hala Hala" means "Come On, Come On"!! Whew this was a beauty. Right near the Capital in beautiful Jefferson City, we missed it yesterday but climbed the hill up here this morning!! So glad we did! The friendly service was a 180 from yesterday. Who has ever had a breakfast wrap with eggs, cheese and Gyro meat!! Damn it was good!! The soft, fresh made Pita didn't hurt the fact that it was absolutely spectacular!! Cold Brew was very strong. Vietnamese Coffee was both rich & sweet. Clean, organized, decorative. Very nice recommendation - I would return for a coffee anytime. We tasted two dessert bites & both were amazing. The spinach pie was good, though personally I appreciate more feta. I sampled the falafel and sadly it was not my favorite. The Gyro came highly recommended but no one in my group tried it. This place is such a great little spot for a quick lunch and cup of coffee. Fast and incredibly friendly service, not to mention delicious food! I've been in several times and it never disappoints. Best almond milk latte in town! This coffee house is more than that ! It's great food too! Parking can be a pain, but it's totally worth a bit of an uptown stroll to get there. This place is close enough to my home that I walk there most of the time. There is lots of indoor seating and sidewalk tables also. read more

The owner is rude and coffee is bad. The food is also overrated. When they first opened it was okay as it wasn't basic or McDonald's but I don't get why everyone thinks this place is the best. Yanis Coffee Zone is one of the more well-known places in Jefferson City for both the locals and those who have business at the state capital. It is a great place to grab a cup of coffee or a quick meal. They normally have a variety of coffees made each morning from their standard to speciality blends. Their "rocket fuel" is branded as a cup of joe for those who really need a caffeine kick in the butt. When it comes to the food, if you are looking for breakfast try the deluxe omelette. For lunch I would recommend the Gyro sandwich. The Gyro is a big portion at an affordable price and includes plenty of fresh gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, feta, and tzatziki. If you are looking for a healthy option, try the spinach salad with grilled chicken. It can't be beat! The owner is incredibly friendly, along with all the other staff, and they truly make you feel like you are part of the family. There is a coat rack in the front corner of the cafe that reads - "Need a jacket? Take one! Want to help? Leave one!" That pretty much sums up the "at home" feeling Coffee Zone strives for. WOW WOW WOW!!! Best place ever!! This was our first time visiting and as soon as we walked in the door we felt right at home!! The owner was SOOO nice!! He gave us free desserts to try and holy smokes they were amazing! And the chai latte, which I am very picky about, is truly some of the best I've had! Don't even get me started on the Mc Yanis sandwich, a gyro breakfast sandwich, it has changed my world! On top of all of the amazing service and food we had, the owner then came and gave us all coffee cups! This place truly feels like home and we already can't wait to come back!! read more

Absolutely worth it if you got the cash to spend... I'm originally from Chicago and gyros are found easily almost everywhere but here in Jeff, there aren't any Chicago-style restaurants. I was so bummed. I came across this restaurant in a search on Google and it took me forever to finally go here to eat, I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! This place was freshly remodeled so I don't know what it looked like before but it's beautiful inside! Very clean and cozy. It was busy, I went just before noon and was greeted by the owner, his wife was working behind the counter taking the order of other patrons. I ordered a Gyro. I was expecting same old gyro food I was familiar with in Chicago but I was in for a special treat. The pita was perfect, bouncy not dry and crumbly. The meat wasn't dripping with grease like all the other places I've eaten before. The onion, lettuce and tomato was topped with seasoning I'd never seen before but it was delicious! And the sauce wasn't loaded with artificial flavor it was light and creamy. I'm already looking forward to ordering another gyro here again. You can definitely taste the authenticity and I'm ashamed to say even thought I THOUGHT I'd eaten gyros before, I didn't eat a real gyro until today. Thanks, Yanis for your wonderful food, friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. You're cafe is a gem in Jefferson City! read more

One of my anytime favorites in Jefferson City. Service is always excellent and the staff is friendly. Comfortable seating. Clean and family friendly. This is definitely not a place to go with a large group but it's just perfect for an enjoyable visit with a friend or two or even takeout. I've tried several coffees both hot and iced and all were good. Last visit I had a chai tea and it was excellent. My standby is the gyro. All fresh ingredients and very tasty. It brings me back to NYC and the gyros I grew up eating. Do not pass up desert the baklava is fantastic and the rugelach calls my name every time I visit. read more

Gyro sandwich - generous toppings and a good price: meat, lettuce, tomato, sauce, feta, and just enough onions for that 'bite'. You have to "eat down" this sandwich to get to a point where you can pick it up like a typical street gyro... tons of toppings! If you say 'yes' to feta... you'll get plenty of feta. The gyro meat was really well spiced and crispy (yum!). The tzatziki was good, but not as flavorful as others I've had (I like more dill and garlic- this was just a hint of cucumber and mostly yogurt). There's a rack in the corner - "Need a jacket? Take one! Want to help? Leave one!" Like it. The facade, bar where you order, and menu reflect a downtown coffee shop. That's where the chicness stops, and eclectic decor begins. It's not distracting, like other places that decorate with mixed styles. There are photos of (what I assume are) the owner's family all around. You sit at a table, in a wooden chair (like you'd see in a family-owned home-turned-diner); a hand-painted mural spans the wall across from the bar; copper lamps hang over the tables; decidedly western paintings and even a small fur is tacked to the wall in back. All in all, this cafe is great! It will definitely be my go-to spot for a cuppa joe and some grub when I visit JC. read more

I stopped into this place to grab coffee when I was visiting the capital from out of state. Prior to this I had never had middle eastern coffee. I wanted to try something I've never had before so I decided to go for the "Cafe Borgia." This was a latte with chocolate and orange. At first the orange flavor was very overpowering, but after a couple of sips I enjoyed this interesting mix of flavors. I wish I had time to order a gyro to go with it because they looked and smelled super delicious! Overall I enjoyed my experience here and very much appreciated the family photos and momentous scattered throughout the cafe that contributed to a homey/welcoming vibe. Will definitely visit this place for a gyro if I'm ever back in the area! read more
