It's also amazing there's finally an amazing Pan Latin restaurant in Pittsburgh where you can try dishes from all over Latin America from a well traveled chef from El Salvador. Since we saw they had churros, we opted to skip the appetizers (even though they sounded really good) and have cocktails, entrees and churros. We were so glad that we did. I enjoyed my pisco sour from Peru. We loved my husband's raspberry mojito (Besito de mora). My skirt steak with homemade chimchurri was like butter. So tender and delicious! It made me happy reminiscing about my time in Argentina when I studied abroad there. My husband enjoyed his lomo saltado (filet mignon with stewed tomatoes, rice and delicious fries). The churros were so crunchy and cinnamony with dulce de leche (caramel) inside. The food was phenomenal and so was the service. We'll definitely be back to try other entrees, the appetizers and ceviche.

The restaurant is cozy and has a small variety of Latin American cuisine, with focus on Peruvian. Wine was not available that evening for some reason, so I went to a street vendor and purchased a 1/2 of an open bottle, and headed back to Torogoz. I decided to order the Lomo Saltado, which I hadn't had in Pittsburgh. The dish had tender well seasoned filet mignon plus skinny fries and couscous. It's a reflection of Chinese influence on Peruvian culinary . I really enjoyed it. Chef Julio stopped by to say which was lovely. We chatted a little bit about moving from California to Pittsburgh. Nice to hear that he settled in nicely with his family and is happy to call Pittsburgh home. Jenny, his wife, was also helping that evening. It was a pleasure speaking with them. I was surprised to receive a corkage fee of $15 without proper communication. I only brought an already uncorked half a bottle due to the BYOB circumstances, but they did remove it when I questioned it. This popup spot is directly on the bike/jogging trail, with free parking. You will get beautiful views of the Ohio river and sunset. There is a stage where occasionally there's live music. Beverage selection usually includes beers on tap, some non-alcoholic items, and ciders. Food is often BYOF or a food truck. The only shade is under the tents so when it's hot, it's pretty sweaty. It is a fully gravel lot, and porta johns. Although they have standard hours, if the weather is bad or unsafe (winds/storms) they will close so check social media before heading down. This is also only open generally April - October (give or take plus some special occasions) so just keep an eye on the season and forecast. Always check East End's social media before heading down. We love the simplicity of this spot. No frills, waterfront drinks, fully outdoors. We have enjoyed coming here since roundabout opened it several years ago. I'm glad the roundabout owners found a good home for it when they left. Finally, east end brewing, if you're reading this please bring revive that proprietary roundabout Ginga Wheat recipe.... I'll love you always forever (and will sing about it in a Donna Lewis voice too)

My husband and I ate one dinner here. Chris, Roberta, and our waitress provided very friendly and timely service. I enjoyed the fun interior design with a vintage floral couch, CRT television, VCR, and landline telephone. I really liked our Rosemary's Baby mocktail, tortilla chips with bleu-cheese queso and green and red salsas, chicken quesadilla, pork taco, and quatro/cuatro leches with horchata. My carne asada and my husband's steak taco were cooked well-done rather than medium so were not pink and tender. My husband did not like his chicken taco.

He provides an option to eat your meal with a form of sensory deprivation that makes the flavors of the food so much more intense. There is no menu. You receive whatever he decides to make. On my visit, the first course was delicious. I have no clue what it was. Sensory deprivation... It was an orgy of flavor in my mouth. My taste buds were held hostage by the mixture of what tasted like scrambled eggs, onion, salt and pepper. It sounds simple, but had an unparalleled synergy. He followed up with the main of beef, brussels, and mashed potatoes. The sensory deprivation ended which makes sense due to the knife needed for the meat. I wish I snapped a pic because presentation is half the battle and he knocked it out of the park. The entire meal was splendid. The beef was cooked to the perfect temperature. The potatoes were mashed with skin on and chunks of garlic which added a flavor and texture that I haven't experienced in mashed potatoes. It also isn't a side I typically order. The brussels were tasty and tender. Cooked all the way through and were served without any fancy sauces or dressings. Tmsimple goes a ling way. If you ever have the opportunity to experience this pop-up shop, I cant recommend it enough. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience.
