These people were great to work with. I had a large hand-knotted rug and a medium sized hand-knotted rug that were very dirty. WARNING - These guys are fraudsters!!! Beware. Andre' and Mr. Behnam will lie to you. Don't bring your rug in for a "free" appraisal, they are in cahoots with rug makers. They told us our rug was worth $1K. We went after the seller in Turkey (as we paid much more) and they required a copy of the written appraisal. We went back to Behnam to get the written appraisal and they said it's worth over $4K. We both heard him tell us $1K. But they are in cahoots with other international rug fraudsters and can't be trusted! I wouldn't buy a rug from them now either (or have them clean my rug), as they told us multiple things that ended up being lies. They can't be trusted. I see that they have responded to this review with more lies. We never said anything about what the rug seller was going to do. And they have not said we would get anything back! They told us the first thing we need to provide is an appraisal (which is why we brought it in to Benham). We told Benham that we wanted it appraised in their store when we had the rug there and they talked us out of it saying we could get it later and didn't need to bring the rug back in. Now they are saying we need to bring it back in (lie #1) and they are also saying it's worth $4-5K when they initially said it wasn't worth more than $1K (lie #2). I stand by my review and contend that what they are describing in their response is simply more lies. If they had just been willing to pick up the rug free of charge (they have a rug transport service for cleaning them), we wouldn't be out the cost of hiring movers. It was their fault we need to bring it back in, as they lost the pictures of it! But now I don't even trust them with an appraisal, since they've lied twice to us (see above) and several times to readers (see their response). Warning again- They are taking credit for something they DIDN'T do. We did NOT achieve a price reduction from our seller! And Benham lied to us in their verbal appraisal. All Benham did for us was deceive us and cost us $400 to have our rug transported to another appraiser, when they should have done the written appraisal (as we'd requested) when we had our rug in their store. These guys are slimy with all of their deceiving and lying. What we haven't figured out is what they get out of it, but there has to be some side deal going that we just don't see. Update 12-27-25 What he didn't say in his response is that the 'supposed' text from me also showed that he did verbally appraise it at $1K. We also requested the written appraisal when we had the rug in the showroom, but he convinced us to do it later if we needed to (and we wouldn't need to bring it back). THAT constitutes the big issue, we ended up needing it and they said we need to bring it back! And we can't without paying someone $400 to do it. They also changed the appraisal from their original "$1K" to over $4K. They keep failing to mention the 2 big lies that has costed us any chance of getting reimbursed by the seller in Turkey. The bottom line is they can't be trusted - they have been caught in at least 2 lies (and they continue responding to this review with even more lies). read more

I brought in a Persian Rug that I've owned for years. The rug suffered water damage and had a hole that I wanted fixed as well. The hole in rug was around 1 inch, I don't know how it got there, but being that this is a Tabriz Persian Rug that I intend to keep for quite some time, I wanted the damage fixed ASAP. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a smile and friendly staff. They sent a gentleman out to carry the rug from the car to inside, he unrolled my rug so the Behnam staff could assess my damage. They discovered some previous damaged and they were very clear in explaining what I needed to have done and what they would charge me for it. It wasn't cheap, but the rug is a pretty nice rug, so I knew going in that I would be paying for premium service. What I loved about Behnam Rugs is that they didn't second guess anything, they knew the problem and knew what to do to fix my rug. I feel there was never any guesswork or misrepresentation. At the end of the day, this isn't a place I'm going to visit everyday. I only have one Persian Rug and have no need to come often. BUT. If I have a problem with my rug, there isn't a place around that I would trust more than I trust this place. I feel I was treated fairly, I was given a fair price, and I felt secure with the level of communication. I found Behnam about a year ago as we had 10-12 handmade wool, silk-wool blend, and silk rugs that needed cleaning and repair. Behnam did an excellent job of cleaning these. Several of the wool rugs had 10+ year old stains that we thought would never come out and they were able to remove nearly all traces of the stains. It was amazing. We recently had a pipe leak while we were out of town that resulted in serious flooding of our home. My large wool area rug was soaked in some areas, and 'bled' on itself...causing dark discoloration on the lighter parts. I had used Behnam Rugs before, but this time, I called in a panic. She was out of town for weeks and I handled through Behnam Rugs the entire process. They picked up all her rugs, repaired, cleaned and carefully spot cleaned them where needed. When they were ready to return with the rugs, I met with them for the correct placement of the rugs in the different rooms. They were on time, gracious and polite. I am now using them again to spot clean a new carpet for a client of mine who spilled a fiber drink on her rug and informs me that the carpet where the is spill is has become - in her words - 'coarse'. It was at least an hour drive to get to my location but the pickup crew members were very pleasant, gracious and efficient. When I went to pick up the rug I was astounded at how good it looked. All the soiled marks, including grease and mud stains were gone; It looked brand new. Ben was very informative giving me tips on how to care for the rug, as well as it's history. Be ware of this business and its owner. Brought the rug to clean, everything was great at this point, nice people, good service. When I came back to pick up the rug, discovered that the rug has been bleached and the permanent marker writing on the back of the fringe leached through on the fringe and rug itself. I was told to come back as they need to work on it more. Also, the repair that was supposed to be done was forgotten. Came back a week later, the marker was still there. Started to complain, as this was supposed to be a clean and repair job. At this point the owner started YELLING at me and threatened legal actions. Repairs have STILL NOT BEEN COMPLETE. Was told to come back again. On the last trip, the staff was trying to convince me that I should be happy with their workmanship, how can i be happy with the permanently damaged rug? We were extremely satisfied customers after the first time we used Benham in 2007, therefore used them again in 10/2011. We had to have a rush job on 5 oriental rugs do to hosting several events. Our carpets are well-used in a home of 4 dogs, and a creek property with a family of 4 bringing in a lot of outside dirt and plant material. Not only did they return my rugs 2 days early, ( which really helped out a lot), but they were exceptionally clean and soft from deep conditioning. A corner stain that had been on it for awhile was completely removed. The owner, Ben, has always been very personally involved, is truthful, and very fair-priced for the quality of work. I would give this company a five-star rating for cleaning and repairing my antique persian rug. They did a great job and I was very pleased until I called to get them to send me an appraisal. At that time I was told I would have to return it to them for written appraisal for insurance purposes. Understand they kept this rug for five weeks and spent a lot of time on repairs. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount for the appraisal; however, I spent nearly $3,000 for recent service and feel an additional $350 is unreasonable. I also do not understand why, after evaluating it from top to bottom just weeks ago, I would have to bring it in for the appraisal. I will be calling a professional rug appraiser who will come to my home for a lot less. read more

I had the worst experience with this place this week. I have a small 2 x3 rug that they cleaned a few years ago just fine. This time it came back with one end that is a concave curve. I brought it in to have it fixed or redone. Instead, I was met with such humiliating comments and outright blaming me for the problem as if it was my fault. The owner stood there with his arms folded and continue with his comments even bringing out a right angle as if I was lying. Possibly because I was a woman I feel I was treated this way also.
