What an awesome Mothers Day my daughter and family had at Beijing & Tokyo today!! Wow!! I just can't thank the chefs, cooks, and our amazing server enough! Kudos! I had the best and freshest sushi and sashimi, my husband had a delicious pepper steak entree and sashimi, and my daughter had a noodle dish and son-in-law had spare ribs! Plus we had sake and cocktails. And the most delicious crab rangoon appetizer! We drove 30-40 minutes to get here but it was so worth it! I don't know why the pictures all look blue; we sat downstairs in the lounge, so I guess that's why. Thanks again! We'll be back! read more

I did a large takeout order for Christmas. After I picked up the order and arrived at our location I found out I was missing an item. I called and they wanted to make it right and make mea replacement offer but that would have been a nearly 40 minute return trip. Wasn't worth the time. I asked to just have that refunded later and I'd be by after our gathering. So kudos to them on the service piece. Now, on to the food review. My dad loves this place and he loves their egg foo yung. Only problem was they don't make it on Christmas for some reason. It's one of the simplest dishes you can make. We got a variety of dishes, the chicken wings were over cooked, the boneless spare ribs were chewy and not in a good way. The rice was bland. There really wasn't a stand out dish. Everything was hot but it just either lacked flavor or was just not good. I'm being generous with the 3 stars due to the service. We will find another place for our next gathering. read more

This place was pretty good from food to service. The food was good I had the Moo Shu Pork and it was excellent. The crab Rangoon was pretty good as well but it had a lot more cream cheese than crab which I like. The hot tea was also very good and I would put it on par with China town. Okay - came there tonight with three friends. The waiter couldn't have gone out of his way to ignore us any more if he tried!!! Never came to our table without being flagged down. (And no - they weren't busy either). Ordered steamed dumplings (I didn't know they made a cold version of those until tonight). We were told that entrees came with white rice, two of us ordered fried rice instead for a modest up charge. Two of us had soup, the others didn't order soup. My entree came out with the soups... no rice ever came. Of course twenty to twenty five minutes later, the waiter brought the other three entrees. We usually order from a different place in Concord but wanted to give here a try and all I can say was the crab Rangoon was decent but the main General Tsos chicken was small portion wise, more expensive, ordered "spicy" but had no spice, was mushy and not even slightly crispy, only 3 pieces of vegetable (broccoli), and hardly any sauce we had to add our own at home. For a main course and a staple of American Chinese food, it was a let down leaving nothing to desire for and leftovers in the trash. Overall, it wasn't inedible or disgusting, it just simply wasn't good. Not even mediocre. It was subpar at best. Wouldn't spend money here again given there are better options and wouldn't recommend. read more

My worst enemy wouldn't deserve this place. The food made me sick. When you're not getting stomach aches the food is hit or miss, and the service is unnecessarily rude. I've had negative experiences trying to pick up and even during delivery. I regret tipping these people. At their core they are negative. Having a caustic negative delivery driver arguing with you for a missing 28cents of a good tip is the straw that broke the camel's back. Pleasantly surprised. Food and service was very good. We ordered a Pupu plater for 2 and it was hot and fresh. The other dish was a beef shrimp and broccoli noodle dish and it was delicious. The menu is a bit overwhelming because they offer so much. The reason for 4 stars is that it's a bit run down inside and the seating is worn, however we will return. read more

Apparently they changed their menu on December 1st without informing their customers BEFORE they order and are charging it for the SAME exact price. After some shopping in Concord, I stopped at Beijing & Tokyo (formerly the Harry Steak House) for a Friday night dinner. Beijing & Tokyo offers mostly Chinese cuisine with some Japanese items including sushi, sashimi, maki, miso soup, and udon noodles. The menu also offers Luncheon Specials and Dinner Combinations (dinner combos for TAKEOUT and FREE DELIVERY only, but not for dine-in, BOOO!!!!!) There are two entrances: the downstairs BT's Lounge in the back and the upstairs dining room in front along Main Street. BT's Lounge is a typical watering hole that offers drink specials at the bar, pool table, darts, digital jukebox, and there's also live entertainment & dancing. The lounge is very LOUD! It's LADIES NIGHT on Tuesdays! The upstairs dining room offers a casual dining room with booth and table seating, and sushi bar seating. Each table is covered in linen with a plate glass dining surface, linen napkins, silverware, & flower vase. There's background music being played in the dining room, but it's not enough to drown out the LOUD music below. The dining room floor was vibrating to the noise. I chose the lesser of the two evils and I ate in the nearly empty dining room. I could see the people that run the place are Chinese. My server brought out some complementary Edamame, ice water, and hot tea. I wanted to have some Chinese and Japanese in the same meal. For an appetizer, I had 6 Steamed Pork Dumplings ($5.25), which had a thick doughy skin and were tasty and came with a good dipping sauce. For dinner, I had the Sushi & Sashimi Combination ($19.95) which included Miso Soup (with tofu & veg.). The large sampler platter had 5 sushi pieces, 10 sashimi pieces, one tuna roll with the standard ginger & wasabi and thin shredded carrot & leaf lettuce garnish. The sushi & sashimi here were decent; not the best I've had, but not the worst. The best sushi I've had in Concord is served at Moritomo in the Fort Eddy Plaza. For dessert, the Tempura Fried Ice Cream ($3.95) was actually pretty good, fried vanilla cake batter around vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream & cherry. The service here was good with timely delivery of the food. The staff here was polite and checked on my table to see how the meal was. It was a decent meal. I popped in last night for the AYCE sushi that I'd been hearing about. I had a rare evening by myself, with my wife and children out of town, and decided to take my laptop on a date and get some busy work done. The setting was cozy and clean, if not a little sparsely decorated. The were few people, only one other table, which I attributed to my early arrival and a Monday night. This is called foreshadowing, folks. Pay attention. To begin, my server Paige was a true sweetheart. Friendly and earnest, and she couldn't have been more than 20. I had walked in off the street in my sunglasses and, like a douche, neglected to remove them for a good five minutes while she explained the fairly standard rules and regulations of the $23 orgiastic sushi cramathon: - Must complete current round before ordering more, and - No taking anything home. What was unusual was the rigor with which these guidelines were presented to the diner. The menu included a EULA-tastic checkbox to indicate your understanding and acceptance of the terms. Once you indicate your preference among the pre-approved list of inexpensive to mid-range soups, salads, sashimi, nigiri, or maki, it is then up to the man behind the Zojirushi to send dishes out and in what order. I experienced less stress completing my SAT. The soup never arrived. The heaviest selection, a tempura-coated monster drizzled with three different sauces arrived first, and a spicy crab salad a few minutes after. The roll was okay, if not a little one-note for such a huge 12-piecer. The salad was just okay, tasting of sriracha and sesame over matchsticks of cucumber. The saddest assortment of sashimi arrived next. A few haphazardly placed bias-cut sticks of surimi, two slivers of tamago with dried edges, three pieces of watery white tuna, stood on edge, two pieces of pale dry maguro that I swear were sliced off a thawed ahi steak from Sam's club, with all the appeal of your tongue after sleeping all night with a sinus infection, and two pieces of not just pleasantly oily, but impossibly greasy salmon. All of it, cold. Absolutely chilled. "Well, it's sushi. It's supposed to be cold. Isn't it?" No, it isn't. It's supposed to be at least room temperature, but ideally body temperature. My guess is that the warm rice is used to average out the extremes, and that nobody, but nobody, orders sashimi. Just this dopey numbnut. But look, I knew what I was getting into. I've been to the fat-bastard buffets and gorged myself on slapdash sushi. I wasn't expecting high art or haute cuisine. But the shit sushi they're slinging at those 8.95 all-you-can-eat parades of edema and trucker hats with Gadsden flags and waddling muffin-assed children serving themselves General Tso's and pizza and meatloaf and suicidal dim sum and char-siu buns with the fucking wax paper still stuck to them off a tepid steam table was far and away of a higher caliber than what I got last night for $40, including tax, tip and a 22-ounce Sapporo as a stopgap general anesthesia. I ate it (which probably says more about me than the establishment), as penance for being such a stupid asshole, hoping that I wasn't signing on for a 2-day, 3-night, all expenses paid trip to the shitter, paid, tipped generously, thanked Paige and left without incident, planning the outline of this review as I unlocked my car and drove off, because I am also a spineless, passive-aggressive toolbag. Paige. If you're reading this, you can do so much better. The world needs more smiling faces and cheery dispositions like yours. I'm not advising you to leave the service industry, because I know you are young and sometimes that's all you can get. But please, at least find a better product to front while you plan your escape. It gets 1 extra star just for being open on 4th July!! lol We were looking for a place for brunch and it seemed like everything was closed. Finally we came across Beijing and Tokyo with an open sign and a sign for bubble tea outside!! :) Needless to say, we were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered veggie dumplings for appetizer and it was alright. Not that great! The vegetables in garlic sauce was our entree and it was really tasty.. Good spicy garlic sauce and veggies seemed fresh. We had vegetable sushi and sweet potato sushi. The sweet potato sushi was pretty good. I had watermelon bubble tea and it was yummy. It was milk based and had little poppers instead of boba in the tea. The service was slow as everyone in the restaurant seemed to be busy filling salt and pepper shakers and other random stuff and we had to wait a lot. Overall good food though :) read more

We went to Beijing and Tokyo for an early dinner on our way through Concord when we headed up to the lakes region. It was about a 5 minute drive off the highway. Not too bad, and they had parking behind the building, which was important since the restaurant is on South Main Street. We started with appetizers. We tried the steamed pork and the steamed vegetable dumplings. They appeared to be hand made and were excellent. Next, we tried the soups. The hot and sour was good, the wanton seemed to be full of veggies and came with several wantons. We tried a number of dishes. We had the sweat and sour chicken. I'll add some pictures. It was ok. I think it might have been better with the sauce on the side. Putting the sauce on the dish made it a bit soggy. The veggie rice was excellent. It was full of veggies and bean sprouts, We also had several of the noddle dishes and they were good as well. Service was average to poor. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and we had to wait quite a while to get the order in, and had to ask several times for tea. When the tea arrived, we had to wait again for cups. read more

Every once in awhile we like to go outside our comfort zone and try something new. This restaurant was just a reminder of why we should NOT do that. I ordered quite a variety of food for my family here recently. And was disappointed in every decision. The beef lo mein had an unusual smell that even my dog passed on consuming it. The food had no real flavor to enjoy and the sauces were watered down. Three out of four of my family members that consumed the food developed 'unsettled' stomachs to put it politely after eating. The fourth family member being the dog, was the only smart one who did not eat the food therefore not getting sick. I myself and family will not be eating here again. My dog highly recommends a pupachino and some chicken nuggets from McDonalds over this place. read more

I came in with a party of 5, was told there was no seating (not put on a wait list) after a few minutes the manager made a phone call and then gave us someone else's resevered table (sorry Amanda, party of 8) they then gave us each empty plates which were just replaced one by one as our food came out. We were also all given individually different shaped and sized dishes. It was pretty epic. Why did we all get empty plates first? My husband & I tried them out last week. The staff was friendly & the service was good. The food was okay for what we got ( Pupu, hot & sour soup & seaweed salad) It was just a fast lunch. One thing that I didn't care for was the scorpion bowl.. it would have been fine if they hadn't used cheap rum. I'm not even sure what brand they used but it gave me a headache. Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. Had the spicy tuna with crunch roll and some sort of entree. The sushi was quite tasty. I have absolutely no memory of what else I got there, probably some sort of Chinese chicken dish. Clearly, it wasn't memorable. Apparently they have a late night half-off deal with sushi rolls. I never got to try that while I was in Concord, but it sounds fantastic. Otherwise, I know very little about this place. They have what looks like a dive bar downstairs, which is actually a kind of bizzarely charming juxtaposition. If I still lived in Concord I would definitely go back for what I'm sure would be a fun night. There's a parking lot down the driveway, so you can avoid the meters on main street. read more

I was thoroughly satisfied with my recent takeout experience. The interior looks clean, classy, and authentic. The staff was professional and quick. I loved the value and quality of menu dishes, although I felt the rice seemed too dry. But the vegetables with my lunch combo were fresh, the noodles were cooked well, and the meat tasted of decent quality. Our goto for consistently tasty, well prepared food at a very good price. The restaurant itself is cozy, nicely laid out and clean, very welcoming to an individual or a group. Great menu with all of the traditional choices from fried rice to egg foo yung, to General Gau, each one served steaming hot by a friendly attentive staff. The husband and wife owners along with family members make sure you are well taken care of and the food and beverages are on time and perfect.
