In May or June of 2021, we hired Mark and his team to take care of our move from Clearlake, CA to Wyoming. We are just now unpacking those boxes - we were astonished to see how well they held up; no crushed boxes, no failing tape - and all were perfectly labeled; (except the older boxes that we packed ourselves and had them move on a subsequent trip - those boxes were bulging and breaking; the tape coming off), every item so carefully wrapped - we couldn't be more impressed. We were so impressed that 3 and half years later, I told my wife, "I have to call and tell them what a terrific job they did" and so I did. After putting my name up on a website for a quote on moving, I was inundated with very pushy and oftentimes overbearing sales calls. One even called 3-4 times a day. One company even tried to get me to compare prices even after I told them I didn't want their services. They texted me after I hung up the phone on them. Another company called for months on end even after I said no thanks and even a voice mail stating I had already gotten a mover. Natasha (not affiliated with Bekins) called even after the voice mail and I told her not to call me. She still pushed and I had to yell at her to stop calling me. DON'T EVER ASK FOR QUOTES ONLINE! So I was talking to my barber, Ray Johnson who runs the Foxtrot in Clearlake and he recommended Bekins in Nice. So I called and in a few days Mark Hollingsworth came out and went over the inventory in my home. The quote for the move came in around $4.3k And this included good insurance. I had some question which I asked along the way and was given very detailed explanations for. One was about transporting alcohol. He said I should drink it all before the move (Just kidding!) On March 27th, Mark and two movers came out and packed up my home. They also helped with some last minute packing I was just to exhausted to do. This helped as I am disabled. After they packed everything up, I locked up the house, got some lunc, dropped off the keys to my PO box and the house keys to Lake County Property management. Then I was on my way! Delivery was set for March 31st, Sunday. I took two days to get up to my new home in Fairview OR from Kelseyville in Lake County CA. Deon and his crew came and filled up my home with boxes and put the furniture where I wanted it. They were quick, efficient and very professional. I also wanted give a big thank you to Deon for taking the time to bring some very expensive kitchen floor mats (those that help prevent foot fatique) to me when he came back to the area. The mats were misplaced in the move but Deon eventually found them. The mats lost their stickers (due to their non-adhesiveness) was the reason why. Not the fault of Bekins. Overall they handled my move very professionally and respectfully. They came in higher than the online quoting, but in the end it was worth it. Moving can be so stressful, especially when moving to another state and having to put your stuff in storage for a few months. (note: we moved from the SF Bay Area to Oregon...they cover a wide area of NorCal, not just Lake County!) Mark Hollingsworth was a delight to work with for the process of packing up our life's belongings...he and his team of Ryan and Conrad worked together like a well-oiled machine to first inventory everything, then strategize about the best way to move things from our home to their truck. I have used them in the past for a short trip. This time I moved to a different town and could not believe the amount of broken items. I found a box marked "stemware" upside down with boxes stacked on top of it. the guys did a good job when Mark the owner was there, but on the delivery of my items they did not want to go through the itemized list and "assusred me" everything was there. The movers admitted to breaking the glass in a picture frame but I never heard from anyone to replace the item. These guys were slow and they charge by the hour so... Just got called a Bitch by one of their drivers because I complained that they had their van parked in a way that blocked 2 handicapped spaces IN FRONT OF AN ORTHOPEDIST's OFFICE! He made fun of me taking a picture of their illegal act so I said "You're an asshole" They were there when I walked my 86 year old mother to her appointment and they were there when we came out an hour later. I told the driver he should park on the street and he yells "YOU PARK ON THE STREET" I called the owner of the company and the FIRST thing he says is 'sometimes we have to park in front of handicapped spaces..." There is a street to park on literally 30 feet away. Owner just basically hung up on me because I wouldn't let the "sometimes we have to park...." comment go. UMMM... No you do not have to park blocking 2 handicapped spaces...ever. read more

I recently moved from Northern CA to Southern CA. I had three movers/estimates to chose from and went with Mark and Lake Co/Bekins. So glad I did. Mark, the owner, came to my house to do the estimate--he immediately put me at ease by saying it was their job to make this as easy as possible--with the least amount of stress. And they did. Arrived the day of the moved spot-on on time. Eased yet more of my anxiety that day (I was doing this by myself and pretty overwhelmed). The movers/drivers were professional, considerate, and amazingly helpful. One specific example--I had ordered a special trash pick-up from my trash/waste company. I had followed all of the guidelines but when the waste company arrived, the guy gave me a huge amount of grief about it being larger than 4 cubic yards (it wasn't--but that's for a review of another company). Mark saw that I was about to lose it--Mark looked at me and said, "We got this. Don't worry" He asked the waste guy that if one of his guys were to help him load the dump truck, if that would be ok...the waste guy said ok. And so Warren jumped right in and helped. Made my cry in the best of ways. Thank you, Warren! Mark also said that if the waste guy wouldn't take it, they would. More tears of appreciation. On top of all of that, their communication was great. About a week before the move, they called to see if I had any questions--I did! And again they put my mind at ease. While I hope to not move again any time soon, if I did, I would call Lake County/Bekins WITHOUT DOUBT! They made me feel like I was not alone in this. On December 9th, 2011 I moved from one residence to another in Lakeport, CA. Two gentlemen arrived promptly, took a look around and then started right in. I could tell right away that Dennis knew exactly what he was doing! They wrapped every piece of furniture carefully as if it were their own, were quick and efficient, professional, very courteous, and a delight to be around.
