From start to finish, the process of creating my custom wedding cake was a dream. Nomeda had us in for a private tasting, where we sampled every single type of cake (including her European cakes...YUM) and filling. We then decided on the flavors we wanted, and began talking design. I brought in a photo or two for inspiration of a lace design to mimic my dress (and the decor of our wedding). I had been told at more than one other bakery that the technique would be very difficult to create, and some even quoted me an extra charge for the work it would require. Not with Nomeda! She seemed oh so excited to try her hand at the lace technique, and informed me that she'd even had some special training to learn it! Score. In regard to pricing, I was shocked at how affordable her cakes were! With a custom design and white chocolate fondant, we were sure the price would be ridiculous, but it absolutely was not! Being able to have creative input on the design was key, and we didn't feel like every single "extra" was being added to the final total. When the cake arrived at our venue the day of our wedding, I was literally jumping up and down I was so excited to see it. It was 10 times more beautiful than I could have imagined, and the cake itself was TO DIE FOR in flavor (and oh so moist)! We ended up selecting the almond cake and the chocolate kahlua cream cake to fill the layers of our creation, and both were equally as good. The cake itself was more than enough for our guests and we ended up taking home not only the top layer but also 2 huge catering trays filled with slices - my relatives were oh so happy to have that the next day before leaving town! Nomeda was kind enough to create a small cake for us on our one year anniversary that mimicked the original design (we'd eaten our top layer after one month; I needed the space in my freezer...practical girl that I am). I definitely will continue ordering cakes for special occasions in the future from Nomeda!

Our venue charges $8 per head just to cut any cake you buy from a vendor that is not on their preferred list. We thought the vendors on the preferred list would deliver top quality products. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The cake Nomeda made for us started to fall apart before we started dinner. My husband and I didn't even get to eat our dinner because our wedding coordinator told us we had to rush to cut the cake before it got any worse. It is a tradition for us to do a knife dance when we cut cake in my culture. All of our pictures and video were ruined of this tradition because the cake was falling apart. My mom notified Nomeda and showed her pictures of the cake while we were on our honeymoon. She brushed it off by saying this never happened before, but did not offer anything in return. We contacted our venue to notify them as well and ask for their help in resolving this. The issue ended up being blamed on humidity. We are in Florida where it is high humidity year-round, yet she has told us this has never happened before. Furthermore, when we ordered the cake, she told us we would get the top tier of the cake to save for ourselves. We never did. Our wedding coordinator advised us the bottom two tiers were insufficient to feed our guests so they had to cut the top tier and serve it. I want to point out that we ordered cake for 125 guests and only 119 actually came so we ordered more than enough. She never even addressed this issue. All in all, I think if I were her I would be mortified that this happened to a couple on the most important day of their lives. I would take full responsibility for my cake not being structurally sound, apologize, and give them a full refund. Sadly, she was not willing to do this. I would never use her again or recommend her to anyone. No one deserves to go through this.
