Got some of meraki bake houses goodies at the Saturday morning market. We just got back from a trip from Paris so it's hard to beat there croissants. I actually likes the savory over the sweet pistachio. My wife got a cinnamon roll which she loved. We also liked the cupcake. They were a little pricey but I would pay it all over again. The line moves fast but get there early because they always sell out. The little stand moves but you'll know you're in the right place when you see the line. The women who work is are very nice and will help you find what you're looking for. read more

So I've had this big house in my list of "bakeries to try". As soon as you walk in, you can tell that the place is very clean. It was a little confusing because as soon as you walk in, you can't tell where one business begins and where one ends and there was a variety of different items that weren't typically associated with a bakery like prime cuts of meat and a charcuterie station, but I'm guessing that's because they share the building with someone else and their business is a charcuterie related business, which is totally fine, but maybe the signage wasn't as obvious so just take a moment to visually scan everything before you go up and grab a bite. Now to the food and the service, the service was good and it was an easy interaction overall. The young lady offered options and was able to answer all of my questions. Although on instagram they offered several items, I saw about maybe like five or six on display. Then again, I did come around 2 or 3 so I believe close to closing time. I will have to come back to see if they have enough variety and quantities in the morning. The food was amazing. The chocolate croissant was not this measly little croissant with a tiny little bar of chocolate, but rather a huge and beautifully laminated croissant with plenty of chocolate that reached from beginning till the end of each bite. It was flaky. It was buttery. This is what chocolate croissants should look like. Because there is so much lamination it is an overall heavier but nonetheless still light as you bite into it. Next, I had eggs in the basket which consisted of sausage, garlic aioli, hash browns, cheese, boiled egg, and micro greens. It was a very creative looking croissant because it actually did resemble a bird's nest.with edible flowers and a boiled egg on top. I'm typically not a fan of sausage, but it actually was really good. In this particular croissant. It tasted fresh and the flavors blended well together. Every bite was consistent although I must warn this particular pastry can be messy as most of the ingredients inside the birds nest are well grounded. I really enjoyed it though as they captured the Easter theme very well. I also got the brown butter cookie. There seems to be a theme of "the bigger the better". The brown butter cookie was actually up there for me because it actually tastes like there was brown butter. It had the nutty quality I was looking for. Plenty of chocolate scattered but not overkill that surprises you so you actually get to enjoy the dough part of the cookie. Most places will claim it's a brown butter cookie but it'll taste like your average chocolate chip cookie so this was a nice difference. Lastly, I tried the brown sugar cinnamon pop tart. the dough consisted of a shortbread like dough with a nice light icing on top and some brown sugar filling in the middle. Other places that have offered this item will put cinnamon, but the cinnamon is so overpowering that it takes away from the whole pastry. This one was just right. Not too much of cinnamon or brown sugar. I was anticipating more crumble but it bit down nicely. Overall, I had a really pleasant experience. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to try something that even though it's offered everywhere nowadays, actually taste tasted better than most of the places that I've tried (and I've tried A LOT of bakeries). I don't know if they're trying to achieve a certain aesthetic by using less signage but maybe have just a tad bit more signage will help guide people to them. They deserve to be well-known. read more

This talented Catapult entrepreneur has moved from pop-ups & Saturday markets to a 5-day weekly brick & mortar inside the Market on Kentucky that recently opened, sharing food artisinal talents of many locals on its shelves. It's set up like a "market" with Meraki as one of its anchors & largest vendors. During the week (closed Sunday/Monday) they have about 7 to 9 items available, from cookies to poptarts to croissants with two usual savory items. (Coffee is available from another vendor, as are things like charcuterie, chocolates, honey.) On Saturdays, the bakers display all their finest, with over 30 different sweet & savory innovative pastries. The upcoming 30 items, rotate seasonal & creative items and are posted on their FB page every Friday if you are hopeful for a specific favorite. They are also providing pastries to various coffee shops in the area, like Concord and Pour Bear. They work equally hard to provide creative & tasty vegan and gluten-friendly goodies, especially with their Saturday collection. Double-check their hours, were running 8 to 5 (ish). Response to owner's reply - I appreciate you taking the time to respond! The pistachio latte cookie was amaze. The new version isn't bad because of the espresso, just the weird frosting on top and lack of pistachio lol. In regards to the gluten free pastries, I understand if you've given your employees the instruction not to and to your knowledge they don't, but every time I've been in your store the gluten free pastries in the glass case are either touching other things with gluten side by side or stacked. I promise I'm not pulling your leg! But if your intent is keeping them separate then definitely reiterate to your employees because they're not following that. Sorry if this seems annoying, I'm just writing this as someone close to someone with Celiac. It's a terrible disease and it would be awesome if places made more of an effort to accommodate them when they can. Thanks for listening to my thoughts. Found them at the Lakeland Farmers Market and stopped by for a croissant to snack on for my boyfriend. No sooner had we taken 10 steps and we were right back at the booth buying more. The croissant was so light and flavorful- this one had everything seasoning on. It was recommended to eat with eggs etc but neither of them made it home. We need to get there earlier next time as they only had a few goodies left when we arrived. Hopefully we may remember to get some pics too! read more

Meraki Bakehouse is run by the sweetest team of people who make the absolute best pastries! It's always the highlight of the Lakeland farmer's market to see their stall. Everything they make is delicious but I'd definitely recommend their jalapeño and cheese breads!
