It's Candyland come to life... the Good Ship Lollipop, docked in Valrico! When you walk into Sweetie's, it's like stepping into one of their gorgeous confections-everything's sugarplums and whipped cream... frosting and frothing... with sprinkles and sunshine. It's a pink parfait of a place-that's total yum for the eyes. My stomach wanted in on the action, too... so I sauntered up to the cupcake case. Soooo many choices-all of them beautiful. I was so overwhelmed-clearly on a sugar high without yet taking a bite-and quickly chose the cherry chip, banana and cookies and cream to take home. I promised myself I wouldn't devour all three at once and so far I've made it (and I've been home a whole five minutes!!!) I can excitedly report, the cherry chip is divine-a nice balance of flavors... not too sweet. I'll report back on the others later (or perhaps sooner). The little jewel box that is Sweetie's is in the Plaza Bella shopping center, at Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals... and it shares a big parking lot with Naga Tea, the Green Boutique and The Shrimp Boat. I found Sweetie's Delights on Instagram while searching for a bakery in the Brandon area which would make me a custom cake for my birthday. After seeing photos of their beautifully decorated cakes, I decided to drive over and view their options in person. The bakery sits on the corner of a shopping center on Bloomingdale drive and is decorated with bright welcoming colors inside and out. As soon as the doors open and you catch sight of the baked goods on display, your mouth begins to water. Staff was friendly and helpful in taking my cake order, making suggestions as I knew what flavor I wanted, but had not thought ahead about the actual presentation. While I was there, I decided to purchase cupcakes so I could get a preview of what my cake would taste like. They have the most delicious cupcakes in quite a view varieties on display, sooooo many to choose from but eventually I chose a lemon cupcake and an orange dreamsicle cupcake. Each was super delectable down the very last bite. The best part is that they are not super sugary sweet, I hate that. I prefer lightly sweet pastries with whipped cream frosting and that what I got here. On my subsequent visit to pick up my finished cake, I bought a few more cupcake treats, this time selecting carrot cake, banana, pina colada and another orange dreamsicle which I loved the first time. I love Sweetie's Delights. I honestly can't believe I haven't reviewed them yet on Yelp. I thought I did. I've been a fan since the day they opened in the Bella Plaza on Bloomingdale near Bell Shoals. It's decorated so nicely as you walk in with pink as the primary color. They bake and decorate everything onsite. They have a picture book of all of their cake designs to give you ideas. It's all custom made to order. The last cake I ordered from them was for a St. Patrick's Day office party. It was a green pot of gold with chocolate gold coins in it. There were a couple of people who took pictures of it. It was a very nice design. I usually get their smoochies or smidgies. These are chocolate chip sandwich cookies filled with their signature Whippy Dip icing. So yum! They also have whoopie pies, truffle cookies, brownies, Whippy Dip decorated sugar cookies, and lots of cupcake flavors. It's difficult to pick a favorite. If I had to, it would be the Samoa cupcake. I also love the Banana, Mudslide, Cherry Chip, and Boston Cream cupcakes. I haven't been there as often as I used to because it's too addicting. I'm trying to eat less sweets, but I have to do it every now and then. What's wonderful is that the owner still remembers my name every time I see her. No matter how long I stay away. "What a difference a day makes!" In this case, what a difference a few months of not frequenting this business makes! Gee, I wonder if that's why we were treated like our business didn't matter! Wow! Either 'someone' was having a very bad day or they were miffed we hadn't been there in awhile. My mind is blown by the fact these people just came off a 3-day weekend, yet they were not refreshed and ready for a new week of business! Or even being at least cordial and happy to have business in the first place, since it seems business is always slow here. The female owner couldn't have been any more condescending and downright rude and unapologetic! We came in here to order a birthday cake for my Daughter's birthday. We were ignored so we felt like we weren't there (ghosts!)l. We were not greeted in any way by the three people working the front of house today, and one of those people was the owner. We had always been recognized by face in the past. We've been good customers and have always spend a ton of money here. Apparently that was not enough today, because we were treated as though we shouldn't be there. I wish we would have left! Now I know it's only a day before a birthday, but we were rudely turned away from ordering ANY cake! The girl who waited on us originally (not the owner, she was waiting on another customer who rushed ahead of us), laughed at us when we inquired about placing an order for a simple traditional German-Chocolate Birthday Cake. She told us they won't be making any cakes of that nature any time soon, that they didn't even have the ingredients to make the cake, and that that particular cake needed to be ordered AT LEAST a week in advance. What bakery turns down an order for a cake? So.. we had no other choice but to order cupcakes. However, most of the cupcakes we liked weren't available, such as their "Rose" cupcake. It was not in the case. Instead, we settled for some we've had in the past that we knew we liked. We had to get several of the same cupcake since there were so few in the case. As we were paying, the owner was then finished with her customer so I turned to her to ask more specific questions about their cake-ordering process. It was clear that I was being treated as though I was stupid for even asking! I was told in a VERY condescending manner by the owner that ALL cakes must be ordered AT LEAST TWO WEEKS in advance. Say what? So now you must pre-order TWO weeks in advance, not ONE? Please train your staff accordingly if that is the case! I could've easily gone to Publix and ordered a German-Chocolate Cake from them. Publix's cakes are always very delicious so in retrospect, we should have walked out for being treated so bad at Sweetie's. Even though their cupcakes are good for the most part, they are definitely not worth $30 a dozen, and especially not worth the nasty attitude we encountered today. In the future, we will be ordering all our cakes from Publix, because they are better. We eventually ordered a beautiful cake from Publix later because the cupcakes we bought from Sweetie's Delights spoiled 2 days later. Never again! 42/100 read more

I had my baby shower cake made by this bakery about a year ago. It turned out beautiful! I will attach it to this review when the app allows me. They have a cherry cupcake and a strawberry filled cupcake that they bake which I love. I recently ordered the strawberry filled cupcake they bake and have become a big fan. The Heath cookie is so good!!! Cupcakes presently cost $2.50 each. Cookies range in price but start at $1.00 each. The prices of cakes vary by design, technical difficulty and size, which is understandable. The shop interior is always clean and the ladies are always friendly. You can rent their cake stands which come in a variety of designs, colors and heights! I can't find much of anything negative except I wish the cupcakes were bigger (but maybe that's better for my calorie intake - lol!)...so I must give them five stars! It's ready to go (sometimes earlier than pick up time) and they help you load it into your car to ensure it is secure and will make it to its destination. I absolutely appreciate that! They're open to design ideas and will provide some helpful insight on flavors, how much to get based on guest size, fondant vs. icing (considering that age group of the party) ... my son's cake was a big hit with both kids and adults! My guests couldn't stop complimenting on how moist the cake was and not overly sweet! Just the right balance of ingredients Accommodations - I live 1hr and 15 minutes away from them but I've used them many times since I used to live in the area. I give it a three because the shop is in a really nice shopping plaza and the décor of the bakery is really on point. It is pretty, pink and looks like what one would imagine a fun, quaint and girly bakery would look like. They have many flavored cupcakes, some with fillings some without. The icing is delicious and so are there fillings inside the cupcakes, but the cupcake itself is nothing special. In fact one of the cupcakes was on the dry side to me. I like the icing to compliment the cupcake not the other way around. They don't have tastings unless you are have more than one person for a wedding or large event. The customer service is excellent and if you go at the end of the day like I did today they will give you extra cake to take with you because they have to get rid of everything at the end of the day. I thought the cupcake was a little pricey for the size $2.50 for a regular size cupcake, but I guess they have to factor in the overhead.
