I've lived in the building now for about a year and a half and thankfully I have a lot more good times. With that said, lately there have been a string of package thefts and there's definitely a lot of questions surrounding security. When I first moved in I was told we would be getting a doorman and I really think management should revisit this idea as a way to permanently solve a lot of the security package theft issues the building seems to be facing these days. There does seem to be a spirit of community growing in the building- it's nice to have and I appreciate it. The building is mostly filled with young adults I'd say from the age ranges of late 20's to upper 40's (for the most part). Everyone is friendly and the noise levels aren't bad at all. It's strange though, I live on the 5th floor but will occasionally hear noises that sound like they are coming from upstairs--that's odd considering it's only the roof above me and the section of the rooftop area above me that is blocked off from normal access, so I can't determine the cause of the noises I hear. At first I thought it might be maintenance but it's far too late at night for that to be a good explanation so aside from that oddity and the occasional street noise...it's actually really quite, peaceful, and friendly. The building has an awesome rooftop which is great for entertaining and it also has a nice courtyard bbq area. I've definitely gotten my money's worth by hosting bbq's and small parties for friends- so that's a feature of living here I really do enjoy. I try to open up my gatherings and invite the residents and I've gotten the chance to meet some really cool people in the building as a result. I also like that we have washing facilities located on each floor, that's super convenient. My only issue w/the washing machines has more to do w/other tenants. The excessive dog hairs found in the machines is a bit disgusting and annoying, lately I've noticed it's gotten better. I love dogs but I'm not a dog owner so if you aren't a pet person (thankfully I am,) then this is definitely NOT the building for you. It's a great deal, in terms of rent and location, and amenities. There is section on the 2nd floor - a balcony of sorts that sits above the waiting area- I really wish that was open to tenants. We used to have a coffee shop onsite, management has informed us that they will be converting that space into a game room area of sorts in the courtyard area. I'm assuming that'll likely be open in the summer. My lease expires in October and if I feel the theft issues have been resolved then I can see myself extending. All in all I would say I consider myself a happy tenant. Management has personally been very accommodating in ways they didn't necessarily have to be with me, and all my personal exchanges with management have been positive so I'm thankful for that. If we ever do get a doorman I will revisit this review and add another star because my personal experiences really do reflect a 4-star rating as a true measure of my feelings being a resident here.

He threatened residents with legal action just for having a group chat within the building to communicate with one another, but after that was dismantled, you never really know who actually lives there. No front door person even though one is always advertised as a false future addition, so robberies/break-ins are always a possibility. Expect frequent emails from property management about packages being stolen within the building. Even if you move out of the building leaving your unit spotless, they WILL charge you unnecessary painting and cleaning fees. Elevators constantly smell like smoke and urine and gym is tiny. Good luck finding street parking since everyone on this dead-end block will purposefully take two spots due to how scarce the amount of actual spots there are. The cameras in front of the building don't span across the building, so there have been cars hit/broken into, and the property management will not help regarding this. Some kid threw up in the main lobby back in 2019 and they charged him $600+ for cleaning and floor resurfacing since it stained the floor, but the property management pocketed the money and have not done anything since.

I have had an ongoing issue with a sewage-like odor seeping into my apartment for 8 months in a row now. I made 6 separate in-app maintenance requests, spoke to tenant services over the phone, and emailed property management directly. None of this communication has resulted in change. At the beginning of this month a "Thomas F" from property management visited my unit, acknowledged the presence of the odor, and promised to get it resolved swiftly. Ironically, 4 weeks have passed and it is still not resolved. What is most unfortunate is that I am not alone in this experience. I learned through different community events that I have neighbors on floors 6, 7, and 8 that suffer from this same issue. Again, I wanted to love this building. I was incredibly patient and consistently made myself available for this odor to be addressed. At this point, though, I'd be doing a disservice to potential renters by concealing this experience any longer. I advise choosing a different building!

There are quite a few kinks they need to work out with their ala carte pricing with amenities that causes confusion and feels a bit gimmicky compared to other DVORA properties. 175 DVORA reminds me of building a barebones Spirit Airlines flight. For some reason, the app charges you to reserve space to sit outside. We were told about in-unit services, refreshes, pool membership and gym thinking we would opt in when we were ready. The concierge is part-time which isn't the problem, but rather the services offered are really confusing. Let's start with the package system which makes very little to no sense: Initially we were told it's a flat $15 for m-f in-unit package delivery service. Then, they rolled out Saturday's only for an additional $15 and Sunday for an additional $15. So, it's $45 per person per month to have packages delivered which is completely insane and reminds me of paying for a carry-on in the airport. So, for a couple, it's $90 per month to receive packages or this bizarre notice shows that they will send your packages back to original sender. So, if my mom sends me a gift, it would essentially be sent back. I haven't received one package notification in 3 weeks, we were told in writing that the in-unit service is for both of us. Still no package notifications, now they want us to spend more money just to access our packages or they send them back to sender. They have revised their services and offerings making it feel really shady. 14 month lease times $90 for "package delivery" equates to $1,260 just to receive a package. This can not be legal. So in other words, I can not physically pick up a package.

Truthfully, I was debating on another building all together and when I told her the only thing holding me back she was able to work some magic and help me get in the building. She was never bothered by the ton of emails I sent and when we found my new home she was kind enough to chat through some decor suggestions :). They have completely monopolized the area: they own their own internet company (which is awful) that you're forced to use (Hiper), they own the streets themselves, they own a liquor store that they'll offer you gift cards to instead of rent concessions when they're at fault, they own a Montessori school building nestled between 2 of their connected buildings, so you will CONSTANTLY hear screaming children in the play-yard that is situated in the interior courtyard of the building and echoes throughout (and yes, year-round, all day, every day!). They also share the amenities with these school children (pools, basketball courts, etc) because it's another one of their companies. They own Zeppelin Hall and Surf City, which have their own sordid histories you can go ahead and google as well. There are constant move outs every month and tons of vacancies for a reason. Run, run away, run far and fast. This place is a joke and so are the people that run it; it's lipstick on a pig. Shiny finishes that break off in your hand, nice smooth walls that you can hear every single thing through, constant power issues, electric bills that make absolutely no sense, management accessing your apartment without consent "by mistake," rats, lantern fly infestations, lying leasing agents; the list goes on and on. All of the residents that have gotten past the honeymoon phase feel this way. Details of a specific incident: I never imagined I would feel less safe in my own home than anywhere else, but that's exactly what living at Liberty Harbor has become. I was the victim of an unprovoked, anti-gay attack by another resident. During the incident, he repeatedly used homophobic slurs, threatened to murder me because of my sexual orientation, and encouraged his young child to "target that f*ggot with his gun" while we were at the amenity pool. The incident was reported in real-time. Building security responded, but failed to act so police were called. 3 weeks later, property management has done nothing. I am repeatedly told that they are "investigating," yet they have refused to explain what actions--if any--they have taken to protect the residents. Meanwhile, the individual who threatened me continues to live in the building, and his apartment overlooks the very amenity where the attack occurred, making it impossible for me to safely use one of the amenities I pay for every month. My lease specifically states that threatening other residents can result in immediate eviction. Yet after receiving video evidence, witness statements, security reports, and a police report, Liberty Harbor has failed to enforce the standards they require every resident to agree to. Their lawyer told me to pursue civil charges against the individual. So what exactly is the lease for? YOU, LIBERTY HARBOR, HAVE A LEGAL OBLIGATION. As a result of this experience, I now carry pepper spray every time I leave my apartment. I no longer use the pool or other amenities. I've stopped hosting my monthly business offering for fellow residents because I no longer feel safe inviting people into that community, resulting in a loss of income. Even better than the space, was the staff from lease management, to maintenance, to front desk. They all went above and beyond, were super friendly, always responsive and prompt, and made our time there so memorable. We've heard horror stories of other buildings, but Senate Place is just not that type of building. middle of the road thoughts on living here !…read more i am not a city dwellers anymore and relocated for work. my boyfriend had been living here and we changed apartments to a larger unit that process was painless and they made it easy for us. the fact it's a dog friendly building is great! the back area behind the building has a decent sized dog pen, which is nice to let them run around a bit when you don't have the energy for long walks. the smell of dog pee by the back doors has been noticeable in the summer heat - if they sprayed down the areas it would be helpful. parking garage is helpful but slightly expensive on top of rent. since quarantine has started and more people are home all day, the trash outside has become more noticeable. the cigarette butts in front of the building is disgusting. the employees here are really nice. the matience team are very nice and always offer to get off the elevators so i can take the dogs up or dog and they'll wait for the next one. mostly everyone up front says hi or bye when they see you. i have 2 employees i talk to way more and love. we were on cloud 9 for the first month of our new unit, we were on the 3rd floor originally and everyday the fire alarms would go off - the people above us were very loud at all hours. and the new unit is on the top floor, we never heard a peep - but a new couple just moved into the apartment next to us and they are heavy walkers, loud, confrontational / fight a lot, and slightly creepy.
