Went to see a Broadway play--such a cute AI love story. The theater itself is really nice with great surround sound, and the production and set design were incredible. Scenes shifted seamlessly right in front of me without me even noticing how they did it. My only issue was the seating. The slope isn't very steep, so I had to keep adjusting to see over the person in front of me. There are plenty of restrooms on each floor, which definitely helps during those short intermissions. Overall, I was comfortable and really enjoyed the show. I'd come back for another play--just hoping for a clear view next time. read more

I purchased balcony seats expecting to feel very far from the stage but the theater was small enough that this wasn't the case, and I ended up having quite an amazing view of the stage. This was great because the set design for Maybe Happy Ending really took this play from being something I would've found entertaining but ultimately forgettable to something truly memorable, and I'm glad I had a great view to take it all in from. Parts of the set were motorized so they would come in and out of the main frame, which I thought was such a creative way to have different settings at once. Whenever characters had flashbacks, there would be a huge hologram that was projected in the area around the main stage, and that, paired with the music just had the audience feeling completely enveloped in the scenes, amplifying every character's emotions. The audience was great, laughing and clapping at the right moments and staying completely silent at others. This is so important with live theater because you want to hear and sense all the subtle breaths and utterances of the characters. I could see that everyone was just as delighted at me during the happy scenes and utterly devastated during the sad ones. Experiencing these feelings collectively is a big part of the fun of seeing a Broadway show. The theater itself, other than being cozy, is gilded and beautiful. I read that it opened in 1907 but has had several renovations over the years. I appreciate that they seem to have preserved the original molding, so you can also feel connected to all who have seen shows here over the last century, collectively holding their breath and sighing with relief at the same moments, just as I experienced at the show I saw here. read more

I went to see Maybe Happy Ending at the Belasco Theatre (111 W 44th St, New York, NY 10036) and had such a wonderful time. It's a beautiful, tender story about robots, love, and companionship that feels surprisingly real. The broadway show does an incredible job of reflecting how when humans are lacking connection we often turn to technology, routines, and convenience to fill that emotional gap. I went with a friend and while we were seated in the upper level, I honestly wish we had been downstairs in the orchestra section. Our view wasn't the best, and I felt like we may have missed some visual moments because we couldn't see the stage fully. That said the story and performances were still very moving and memorable. Overall, it's a thoughtful, emotional broadway show that stays with you long after you leave the theater it's gentle, bittersweet, and very human. 10/10 recommendation read more

Came here to watch Maybe Happy Ending and had the absolute best time! Going through security and getting checked in was a breeze. The ushers were very professional and easily directed us to our seats. I would say the theater is more on the smaller size. But it makes for a cozy intimate feel! The interior is actually stunning. There are so many embellishments on the railings and murals on the walls it really feels like stepping into another time. The musical itself was wonderful. Maybe Happy Ending has a beautiful story. The acting and songs really pull you in. But there's also plenty of light comedic moments. Highly recommend! Afterwards we waited by the stage doors to see if we could catch of glimpse of some of the cast. A few did come out and say hi and sign some stuff. The experience was very organized and very calm. This is a review of the theater as well as the current production of Maybe Happy Ending. I was quite skeptical watching this show. I knew it was the best musical of 2025, yet, I was not sure if I'd like it. I came in thinking that the show would be incredibly overhyped. The longer I watched the show, the more invested I got with the plot, the cast and the love story. Everything was so unique, including the staging and the tech designs. As for the theater itself, there is adequate leg room. I was seated in row E of Mezzanine and the view was unobstructed. I also got some merch, which was located close to my seat. I saw "Maybe Happy Ending" last week at this theater and had a terrific experience. My friend and I sat in the last row of the orchestra section, row P. This was perfect for us as my friend and I are both on the taller side and we didn't have to worry about blocking the views of patrons behind us. This theater opened in 1907 and was created by David Belasco with a living room in mind. It indeed felt intimate and I loved feeling so close to the musical and actors on stage. As an Angeleno, this theatre really gave me the same vibes as The Pantages Theatre. That is to say an old timey picture palace that was converted into a live theatre venue. The interior design is absolutely stunning. It truly feels like it is there to show how beautiful and important live theatre is. I also really appreciated the box seats they had off to the side. It just gives a timeless feeling to the whole place. You walk into the theatre and you are just transported back to a time when going to the theatre was a huge event. The theatre is short/narrow, but tall allowing a lot of guests to come in. I will say, however, that we were up near the top and while we could see the entire stage area, the particular show we saw ('Maybe Happy Ending') had some times when the actors move forward to almost a sub stage area that was cut off by railing. So just keep that in mind. The seats are also very close to each other so if you are tall like me (6 ft) you might find yourself cramped in a bit & struggling to either stay comfortable or help adjust to let people walk by your seat. Beyond that, however, we had an absolutely fantastic visit to this theatre. We got in quickly, were able to get concessions fast, and after the show the merch line was manned by just one employee who did a fantastic job of keeping the line going, even when guests weren't sure what they wanted to buy. I would highly recommend seeing a show at the Belasco. However, I would maybe say spring for the lower/closer seats to ensure you are able to see all of the action no matter where on the stage it takes place. read more

My wife and I visited the Belasco Theater for the first time to see Maybe Happy Ending, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. We sat in the balcony, and even from up there the view of the stage was clear and intimate, definitely one of the better balcony setups we've experienced on Broadway. As for the musical itself, it was a beautifully crafted story with heartfelt performances, thoughtful staging, and a tone that kept us fully engaged the entire time. It's the kind of show that leaves you reflecting long after the curtain comes down, without ever feeling heavy. I won't give any spoilers, but the blend of emotion, humor, and creativity made it truly special. My wife and I loved watching Glee back in the day, so seeing Darren Criss on stage was such a treat. He brought so much depth and charm to his role, it was genuinely delightful to watch him perform live. Overall, our first experience at the Belasco couldn't have been better. This review is strictly for the theater and not the musical. What a horribly designed theater. I won the lottery for maybe happy ending and got seats on the right side of the balcony. I was in shock when I sat down and saw 6 poles spanning across the entire balcony. The box seats were also extended more than normal theaters so our view was obstructed along with the light that hung below the box and missed a lot of action that took place on the right side of the stage. My back hurts after the show because I sat there leaning forward for the entire duration of the show due to the railing being too high for people in row A to see so those people were leaning forward leading to a wave effect of everyone else sitting behind to lean forward as well. This is the case all across the entire balcony and not just limited to the partial view seats on the sides. The theater is very small. The exit door next to our seats leads you directly to the outside and one person decided to open it in the middle of the show in the middle of winter so it got really noisy and cold with wind blowing on us. I can't complain too much as I purchased my tickets at a discounted price but they should not have sold those tickets to anyone. In fact I've been watching musicals for 29 years and never have I encountered so many seats listed as "partial view". I would be angry if I had purchased these tickets at full price and upset that people who pay for rush tickets probably paid less than what I paid but had much better seats. I've won the lottery 3 times and wasn't able to go the first 2 times. The fact that lottery winners get such horrible seats is probably why it's so easy to win these tickets and I should've done more research before I purchase these tickets. If you do want to go, avoid buying seats at the balcony altogether and at least 3-4 seats on either side whether you're in the orchestra or mezzanine. The one star I gave was for the restrooms as they were clean with many stalls and I didn't have to wait in line at all. The musical however, was fantastic with amazing stage design and cast. Music was ok but not memorable. However, the singing was phenomenal and made up for it. The stage was innovative and interesting. The storyline was funny yet heartbreaking at the same time. I would definitely watch it again but with better seats so I can rewatch the actions that I've missed with the worst seat possible. read more

I saw Appropriate tonight with Sarah Paulson and Corey Stoll. It was a fabulous play! As for the theatre though - yikes. Soundproof much? We had nice center seats but my god at some points I couldn't even hear the actors deliver their lines. It was soooo loud - you heard all outside noise from the sidewalk and therefore was extremely distracting. Also how annoying to hear outside noise from the interior of our seats that we paid good money for, woof! Stood in line to grab waters (2 is $12) and there was no candy. I was surprised! Only salty stuff: Pringles, peanuts and Halls Cough Drops lol. 3 stars bc the theatre genuinely needs to soundproof. Saw Maybe Happy Ending and absolutely loved the show--beautifully performed and emotionally resonant. However, I do want to flag an issue with the seating. From Row C in the balcony, the view of the front edge of the stage was obstructed, making it difficult to fully enjoy the performance. I found myself leaning forward for much of the show, and during key downstage moments, it was nearly impossible to see what was happening. Had I known about the limited visibility from these seats, I would have opted for a different location. It's worth noting that other theaters in town with similar balcony seating didn't present this problem for me, so this was an unexpected disappointment in an otherwise stellar evening. read more

This is a "Must See" Broadway musical! Over a month before our wonderful evening, my wife and I were scouring through the reviews of several shows. MAYBE HAPPY ENDING caught our attention and we are very glad that it did. The two stars, Andrew Barth Feldman and Claire Kwon, were fabulous and their singing was sensational. In fact, after every song, there was tumultuous applause and cheers. Their performances gelled so well that if if lived in NYC, I would see it over and over again. On top of all that, the storyline was precious and the little quotes about life and humans was "spot on." If you are planning on seeing a delightful musical in New York that has won 6 Tony Awards, place this one at the top of your list. read more

This is more of a review of Maybe Happy Ending rather than Belasco Theater, although the theater was stunning. The one thing is that on the 3rd floor, aka the balcony, essentially the railing covers the stage's front view for everyone sitting there other than those who are in the first row. Every time the actors walked to the front of the stage, everyone had to stand up. Here are my favorite parts about Maybe Happy Ending! - I loved the entire aesthetic of the show! It honestly gave such Korean and East Asian vibes, almost like if Wes Anderson directed a show in Asia with all the soft palette colors. - The set design was also absolutely incredible as I have never seen a stage before that used the curtains so much to center around what they wanted the audience to focus on. I really hope the set designer receives a Tony for this one. There was this one scene where they were trying to emulate a forest with fireflies where they pulled up the curtains and all the musicians were playing their instruments on the moving circular stage while a grand piano was in the middle. This scene felt so K-Drama to me and made me almost cry. - The show was essentially 2 hours nonstop and I have to give props to Darren Criss and Helen Shen who performed from beginning to end, also nonstop. - The storyline was wonderful! I think the ending after they return from Busan was a bit long and didn't need that part, but I love this exploratory aspect of the human/robot capacity to love. It was a love story but not really. - The outfit was everything! I'm definitely going to be copying what Helen Shen wore in my daily life. Overall, fantastic show where I felt completely broken afterwards. I cannot recommend it even more. read more

In fact, the place is actually a New York City landmark, which means they are not allowed to alter its appearance. Being inside this place is like stepping back in time. The place is also more more intimate than other Broadway theatres. There are only about 1,000 seats inside. Many other Broadway theatres have 1,500-1,700 seats. This increases the chances of getting a good view of the stage. We were all the way on the very left and even then, the view of the stage was not obstructed. read more

After the show, one hour 45 minutes, I was not permitted to use the restroom, as we had to leave!?! A beautiful theatre that while older, provides decent and comfortable seating and leg room. Be sure to check out the murals the outline the theater-they don't make them like this anymore. It is a small theater and tucked right along the sidewalk so you do occasionally hear sirens, etc. emanating from the street. Perhaps better insulation fire doors (that open to the street) could help remedy? Drinks and bathrooms are located downstairs and par for the course, drinks aren't cheap. I have hear that sight lines from the balcony are sometimes blocked but no issues in my orchestra seats. read more

I actually saw Aint No Mo here in its very limited run over a year ago. The play I did overall enjoy but even compared to other Broadway seating it was very tight. I had to almost stretch to the side and have my legs kind of all in the next seating area so lucky I did have some room. Overall, that play should have had at least a few more months in its run but it is what it is and nothing you can do about that now in 2024. read more
