Amazing service when I needed a Omega watch sized for a graduation gift that was purchased from another store not in Gainesville. They were courteous and ready to help us in a tight timeline. I gave my son a watch for graduation the night before the graduation ceremony but didn't fit his wrist. I called a few watch / jewelry stores in Gainesville via google search for option. The first two were a disappointment. I asked a for simple quote on being able to add 1 or 2 links to a new watch with one store wanting to charge $45 for a 5-10 min job and the other vendor would not even bother to quote. Oaks said cost will be around $20 depending on complexity but it is a new omega speedmaster and we know it is straightforward to solve. Great customer service! I brought in an older watch for a new crystal. They sent in for estimate (no charge). The estimate came back higher than I was willing to pay because the jeweler would have to custom make the crystal since this was not available new any longer. The watch was not worth more than the estimate. They sent back for me to pick it up and surprised me with a crystal that a trainee replaced - they told me "no charge". Wow - so nice!!! read more

My Fiancé and I have never sold anything in a pawn shop before, My experiences with them have been through TV and Movies. I think I was always afraid of going into one and them seeing the naivete in my face and low balling me for my items. I chose Oaks Pawn and Jewelry because its a local business, and because they don't have obnoxious commercials, and because they checked out on the BBB. My mother gave me her engagement/anniversary set a decade or more ago. Its gold with diamonds and it never fit me, and I don't wear gold. On hearing of my new engagement, she told me to sell the bloody rings and put that money towards our upcoming nuptials. My smart man suggested we get them cleaned first, so they look their best and that was a grand idea because they did look very sparkly and beautiful and clean. We went inside and Immediately was greeted with a smile from Kristen. She took the rings, asked me appropriate questions (did i have paperwork, how much did I want for the set) She measured it, and appraised it and whispered secret pawn language to it and came up with a perfectly reasonable amount she would offer...and I took it. Gave my ID (cause you gotta have a valid ID to sell anything) signed and inked my right thumbprint and got the cash in my hand. All super quick, easy, and fair. We told them exactly what we were looking for in terms of diamonds (color, clarity, GIA certification, etc.) and they handpicked several diamonds for us to look at. We chose the diamond first, and they put it into a setting I wanted. They are very knowledgeable and friendly and my ring is better than I could have ever imagined and at a MUCH lower cost than the traditional ring stores or online stores. Took my Chanel bag here at the advice of a friend, wondering what I might be able to sell it for. I will not be going back. They tried to say "they didn't know if the bag was real or not" despite my sealed authenticity papers and numbered certificates. And despite passing all of their googled detail checks. Yes, they sat in front of me and my bag, and googled how to identify a real Chanel... I was told this was the place to go to sell high-end bags. Clearly that is not true, considering everyone said something along the lines of "oh I don't know anything about Chanel" at first look, and the most "high-end" bags they had for sale were Fossils and Vera Bradley's. I should have known these people wouldn't know fine Italian leather if it was set down right in front of them. Stupid honestly, they missed out! I'll be going to Haile Plantation instead. read more

Anytime I'm looking for a new movie to watch, I check here first. And the staff is incredible. Especially Keni. Anytime I buy something, I always like to get as much information about it as possible, and Keni always answers my questions. Clean, but let's face it: they are after your money and will do whatever it takes. Three times I've gone in, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, and every time I've left feeling like they were trying to rip me off. Bought a tool set that turned out to be rusted & burned out, and of course they wouldn't take a return unless I had bought their 'protection plan'. Why not sell working things to begin with? Tried to sell them a Fender J-Bass and the price they offered was laughable ($125? Really?) this place USE TO BE A GOOD PAWN SHOP, when they had decent ppl working there....now they are a bunch of crooks who don't understand how a pawn shop is run! They do not try and negotiate and straight up STOLE FROM MY FAMILY! Just recently my b/f pawned his golf clubs w the bag which we just recently had the funds to retrieve after paying at least 6 months of 25% interest. Now I understand completely that this is part of the game BUT when my b/f went to retrieve his clubs they had sold his leather Cleveland golf bag and only gave him the clubs back and said since he defaulted once it was theirs....yes he had defaulted once, but came in immediately to make arraignments which they agreed to, and then t proceeded to take his clubs AND bag off the floor to put back in pawn...... HOWEVER later when he went to retrieve his items, the bag was not there. They then proceeded to charge him full price for his clubs WITHOUT the $200+ bag which was part of the initial "pawn" package...WTF! Not only was this just wrong in soooo many ways, every employee in there was rude, nasty and just downright unprofessional. The last crew they had understood ppl struggle and fall on hard times and they would work with you and not try and kick you while you were already down! This new crew is downright GREEDY AND NASTY!
