Ever since seeing this place on the Merton Abbey Mills website, I've been desperate to go!
It is a cute and cosy cafe / bar, with truly lovely food. In the day it is a cafe serving waffles, crepes, sandwiches and other Belgian bits and bobs, and in the evening there are a Belgian beer selection and live jazz etc at the weekends. It has a very unique style with a certain 'wow' factor, perhaps a good place for an early date?
I went with a group of four, so we got to sample a range of the Belgian waffles. Having lived in Belgium, I can say they are authentic, and clearly individually homemade as our order took some time to come out. Each waffle was great, especially the ones involving fruits as it calms down the sweetness of the sugar and chocolate! The coffees were very nice, the hot chocolate a little weak but not bad.
Only drawback is the lengthy amounts of time waiting for service - it is small but busy and they didn't have many waiting staff on and only one person making food. Having said that, everyone was extremely nice and the atmosphere was pleasant and unrushed. But don't come here if you only have a short amount of time!
They have free wifi so I might bring my laptop over one day and enjoy the ambiance a little longer! read more
