I've been going to Bark's Acupuncture for over 6 years, and it has made my life better. Dr Bark (father) and Dr Gina Bark (daughter) are both amazing. Dr Bark often does soft tissue work, presses acupressure points and does massage in specific areas to increase circulation in addition to the actual acupuncture. He also always feels my abdominal area-- sometimes just briefly to feel my stomach and some other organs, other times more of a massage. Among other things, Dr Gina Bark has incorporated cupping and infared treatments alongside her acupuncture. Dr Bark has been my dad's acupuncturist for about 30 years. My dad had 2 surgeries to remove a cyst from his wrist prior to acupuncture-- after it developed a 3rd time, he decided to try acupuncture. After seeing Dr Bark, his cyst resolved and it's never come back in all these years. Even though my parents moved, my dad still travels over 100 miles to see Dr Bark a few times a year for treatment and tea which Dr Bark makes formulated just for him. The treatment is not one size fits all-- the teas and herbs I have been given over the years change based on my needs and none of the teas have been the same formulations my dad is given. (Yes. We have tried a taste of each other's teas. They've never been the same.) Dr Bark also recommended my dad steer clear of most dairy, whereas he told me to incorporate dairy--like milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, and cheese--into my diet daily. I so appreciate that both Dr Barks use their knowledge and expertise to treat patients as individuals and don't give us all the same exact treatment or dietary and lifestyle recommendations. And the treatments are never stagnant-- my treatments have adjusted over the years. I had headaches almost every day when I started coming, and within 3-4 weeks had almost no headaches at all. My menstrual cycle length increased by 4 days because of acupuncture. I sleep better, have less stress, etc.  I am finally pregnant with my first child, and they have been continuously supportive-- treating me for things like occasional headaches and lower back pain. Last thing I will say is that both Dr Barks truly care about their patients and our health and well-being. Dr Bark has treated me (and I'm sure others) with herbs he grows in his garden. He has given me produce from his own kitchen; when putting me on a high potassium diet he literally brought a potato, avocado, and tomato into the treatment room-- from his kitchen -- to describe to me how much of each I should eat every day. And then he sent me home with them so I wouldn't forget and would have some potassium that day in case I couldn't get to the store right away. Both father and daughter Dr Barks are knowledgeable, caring and excellent at what they do. They always have a massage therapist or 2 on staff--special shout out to Andrea--and the front office and support staff Stella and Jessica are wonderful. I always am happy to be there and always leave feeling better. I highly recommend Bark's acupuncture. read more

I've been to a few local places but I really like Dr Bark. The staff is also very friendly and I never have to wait long. They take kaiser which is wonderful and even if you have to pay cash it is worth it! I've had cupping, massage and acupuncture here. Dr. Bark is the best!!! I drive over an hour to receive treatment from her once a week. I was first skeptical of acupuncture treatment because when I went in the past, I didn't have any improvements with other acupuncturists. I first went because of my intense shoulder pain that wasn't going away despite PT and medicine. After one session, my mobility returned. I was really amazed and relieved. It only took about 3 sessions after to have permanent relief. I am also currently undergoing IVF treatment and I decided to work with Dr. Bark to support my frozen embryo transfer. We were able to get pregnant on the first try! This was our first positive pregnancy test in 7 years! I truly believe her methods and treatment helped so much. Dr. Bark is so skilled and knowledgeable in her treatment methods. Not only that, but her bedside manner is fantastic. My friend went in for hand and wrist pain, but instead was pulled by the neck and feet. The old man, assuming it was the father of Dr. bark performed an inappropriate procedure on my friend. She was never told what was going to be done. It was just done on her and she did not feel comfortable. She felt disgusted afterwards and was more in pain. I feel like this business deserves an update. Now that I've been coming here for many years. I'ma start with Andrea; I can not go on without her massages. Her massages are very therapeutic, detailed and mindful. Her energy is amazing. I love talking with her during the massage sessions. I also love how she has the intuitive touch of knowing where my body aches the most. I have rheumatoid arthritis and my newly diagnosed mild fibromyalgia so sometimes its hard to give her a specific area of pain and she just figures it out. Mara; love her. She is the receptionist, she is not your typical "office voice women" she has her personality and I love that when I talk to her I'm not talking to someone who sounds like a robot reading a script. The Dr. (Gina) who provides the acupuncture is also another beautiful person. Very composionate and professional . Stella helps you get comfy into the room and sets you up for electrical acupuncture; once again another person I love with an amazing soft and pure personality. If I could recommend this location to everyone I know without sounding like a walking advertisement I would lol. Barks acupuncture offeres herbal medications (for constipation, blood circulation, etc), acupuncture, massages, cupping with electrical impulses and I'm sure other stuff I can't remember . I've been coming here for acupuncture to treat my sciatica since January. It's taken awhile for the treatment to be really effective, but it's not surprising considering I've been living with sciatic pain for the last 17 years! The pain had become intolerable and was affecting my daily life. But now that I'm getting acupuncture, I no longer have daily pain and most days I'm pain free. When the pain does return, the intensity is much less than it used to be. Dr. Shin is my acupuncturist and she is amazing!! I highly recommend Dr Bark's acupuncture office for your pain! I was one of Dr. Bark patients and I love her and the staffs so much! I started to see her because of my neck and shoulder pain but after she read my pulse (one of the traditional ways to diagnosis) she found out I am low in energy and I have weak digestive system. She did acupuncture and gave me customized medications (herbal powder). After her treatment and taking the medications I slept much better and my energy level improved. Dr. Choi is the reason I am up walking around today. After the VA hospital hurt me a year ago during a endoscopic procedure into my pancreas gone wrong. Dr. Choi brought the first relief I found in almost a year. New to acupuncture I wasn't sure what to expect. My first time here and I really didn't know what to expect. This place has been here for a while so it's pretty established which I did like. I will say I was diagnosed 3 days prior to coming in with Bell's Palsy a mild case but had severe throbbing pain in my eye to where it felt like I could not see 100% more less like a film over my eye as well as my lip drooling. So I went ahead with the session acupuncture in my face (ouch) if you try to talk or make facial expressions so I just had to relax and in my hand and feet. After the session was over I felt a little better. I was given some herbal tea and was told to come back 2 times a week. I went on my way with my appointment and later that night I felt out of nowhere the pain in my eye was gone and my lip felt normal. The next day I felt my eye feel just about normal and same with my lip. I still want to come so I won't relapse and get stimulation to my face. I don't know what happened but I'm trying to make a speedy recovery aside from all the pills I have to take. Also acupuncture I read improves recovery 31% on top of the 60% with the pills. Let me just say that I don't often write reviews on Yelp, but when my experience is compelling and profound I will venture on the site to place my comments. I came to Bark's Clinic out of desperation suffering from a lifestyle in Los Angeles that has been so anxiety driven that it has left my body sick. I am completely out of sorts. It was the doctor's orders to go to this thing they call "acupuncture" twice a week. My first session with Jane last week was a light introduction. Today I had my second session and I must say that it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life! No joke! I could tell by the second session she was gently turning it up a notch by inserting more needles and turning them a little more. It was very gently done with a light touch. When she left the room I first felt the anxiety bubbling underneath my skin and I must admit it was a tad bit overwhelming, but within a matter of minutes I experienced a warm lifting sensation from my body and ALL the anxiety lifted out of my body. It has been over an hour and I feel so light. I have never experienced something so wonderful. Jane really knows what she is doing! read more

I love Bark's! The staff is so pleasant, very helpful and great at their jobs. I have had the deep tissue massages and acupressure; I always feel so much better, because the staff know how to dig deep into the knots, and break them up pleasantly. I suffer from a herniated disc and before coming to my first visit, I would wake up in pain and be in constant pain throughout the day. I came to Dr Bark to treat my vertigo. I got my acupuncture done on a Monday. I was told to take the herbs that they gave me after dinner for 3 days. After day 1 I was feeling a little dizzy and still foggy. I took the herbs like stated after dinner. Immediately I felt the fogginess clearing up. Now 3 days after acupuncture and herbs I am felling 100% better. No more fogginess, no more feeling lightheaded, I feel so much more normal. I am so excited to feel this way after my 1st treatment. I will continue to get acupuncture done for 3 weeks in hopes that through acupuncture and prayer it will completely go away. Vertigo is such a horrible thing to live with.
