This is a smaller Belk, so it never had the broad selection available at other locations in the area. Think of it like a regular *al*art versus a Super *al*art. One thing I have never liked about this store is the amount of miscellaneous merchandise hanging on racks throughout the store. They seem to be located in the most obvious places like around the wrap stands, or outside the dressing rooms. But it's like it NEVER gets put back out on the floor. One rack becomes two, three, or more. The wrap stand, particularly in the ladies department, ends up with a wall around it comprised of stuff customers have returned or not put in the right place, or has been gathered up from dressing rooms. It just never seems to actually get put away and the racks moved. Every time I'm in there it's super cluttered and even when item locator says they have it, you'll probably have to sift through the jumbled racks to find it. Or you could look through the piled high-and-deep counters behind the registers at the wrap stands. I recently asked an associate if they ever have to stay late for "recovery," but she said just kind of around the holidays. Would explain how I've been in the store within an hour before closing and then returned the next day just before lunch only to see the same junk all over. I am very disappointed with Belk. I have been a loyal Belk shopper for years, spending over $1,200.00 with them last year. Unfortunately I didn't get the managers name at the Alabaster store. However, he refused to return 2 pairs a sandals that are within Belk's standard return policy window. I attempted to return the sandals and was told that the return window is 30 days. After researching on the Belk website the stated return policy is 90 days. I reached out to Belk via email to ensure I could return the sandals that did not fit me. They said the sandals could be returned in store or shipped back. Shipping is difficult for me so I went back to the store and attempted to return them again. He was quite rude and stated that even though I had it in writing that I could return the sandals he could not do anything for me because store policy is 30 days even though the website says 90 days. He stood and at the register and argued with me without being able to explain why he couldn't return them when I was told I could by Belk's customer service team. I am attaching screenshots of Belk's return policy. His actions have cost Belk a loyal customer because I will not continue to support a business that treats customers in this manner. Belk needs to decide on a clear return policy because this is not fair to their customers. read more

Was in the area and needed to return an item I ordered online. There is a specific area for returns; signs were everywhere. When I arrived at the register, there was no one there . After waiting for about 5+ minutes, a young man appeared. Honestly, I didn't even know he was standing there. The return was quick and contactless. The service wasn't the friendliest but it wasn't horrible. I am realizing more and more that Belk stores are very overcrowded. I don't recall them always being that way but as of late, insanely overcrowded! I am becoming less and less of a fan. The staff were in masks , proper social distancing measures in place so this is a plus! read more

I am a fan of Belk department stores. They offer good deals and the quality of clothing is pretty good. This particular location is just off of 65 in a large shopping plaza. It is a bit smaller than other locations that I have been to, however I was able to purchase quite a few items that I did not know that I needed all my life. We were only coming in here for banquet dresses but left with everything else lol. The only thing I didn't like about it was there's only one dressing room. Especially with them having a sale, there should be at least 2 or maybe one with more rooms. The cashier was friendly and helpful with the coupons I had as well. Another one of those that you can compare to the other Belk locations in the area (which there are quite a few scattered across B'ham). Really not impressed with this location! First and foremost it is a small location. Think of the comparison between a Walmart and a Neighborhood Walmart ..... which that isn't a problem, just saying that they don't have as much space. Second, for whatever reason, it doesn't matter what the coupon is or what you are trying to buy, they don't seem to be able to process it at this location. But, you can run up the road a few miles to one of the other locations, and they seem to have no problem getting the coupon to work. The store itself is always clean, it's just annoying that they don't try to see what they can do to help, it's typically 'sorry can't do anything with that'. More times than not I've left and gone to another location so that I can use the coupon. read more

I ordered my mom's Mother's Day (2020) gift online. I received a text message that my order was ready for pick-up. During this time, there is a curbside option for this location. As I sat in the parking lot of another store, I uiltilized the app and gave the description of my automobile and that I was on my way. Before I could hit the button saying that I was actually there, the young lady was already waiting on me. This was a quick process and I appreciate the use of mask and gloves. read more

My husband and I both like Belk department stores but I have had the hardest time getting service the last three times I have been to the Alabaster Belk. There is no one to greet you, you have to hunt to find someone to help you or most of the time to just check out. It's like a ghost town and it wouldn't surprise me if they closed this location. What a disaster! Apparently they had a major sale earlier in the morning, or were attacked by a horde of zombies. The store was in complete disarray. I made my way to the undergarment department and it had been hit by a twister. I gave up thanks to the overwhelming anxiety caused by the complete disaster of a department and ran for the door. read more

This really shouldn't constitute as a flagship store... I'm coming to realize that the best Belk is located at the summit, and that's not a good thing! Belk in general has really been going south for quite a few years now. Belk should just go ahead and close this store already. IAM AN OLD LADY. BELK HAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THIS FACT. I have admitted a mistake because of the fact i am old. They have just been rude and non responsive. Not the friendly Belk family company I've known for 40 + years . If I could give NO stars, that would be my choice. I have been a Belk costumer before there was a Belk it was, Parisians, McRae's.. ... I am 72 years old. I get new cards about twice a year. I have not read the info with the cards for years. I am a trusting Elite card holder. Paid the balance at the end of each month. In big letters when new cards are received, it says "call to activate". Sometimes I do, sometimes I wait til I'm at the store with my purchases to activate. A couple of months a go I did not have my new card with me. Gave my SSN as alway.... to my surprise it DIDN't work... was told i have my MASTER CARD. No idea. No longer have the convenience or personal appeal of a Belk card. Can't change purses and forget your card. Gotta have that MC. Put that $700 worth of merchandise back!... I am no longer a belk customer... I am a MASTER CARD CUSTOMER, I have 1 VISA and 1 Master Card, a Belk and Macy card I told the young lady I did not want anything else! I wanted my Belk back, no other card, Seems I activated the MC thinking it was just my regular Belk card. when I called to activate. The reason being that's what it looked like I needed to do as usual. I have gotten new ones at least 1or 2 times a year for forever. Had not used the new card. I Asked to get my old belk account back. Said if they close the MC (that to my knowledge I never authorized ) I would lose my Elite status. I would be a new customer. Asked to speak to supervisor. She said one was not available . Said she would give a temporary number to make my purchase that day and have one call me. You guessed.. the temp number was not a temp... I looked... it was the same as the NEW MASTER CARD they gave me. No super has called. It's been 2 months. They were very rude. Each time I've called since, they have been rude. The manager of the alabaster store come over while I was talking to the rude person on the phone. He was very nice and understanding. Seems a lot of people have had the same problem. Since then numerous employees in other stores have told me other customers are upset about the same thing. So I am not the only stupid one. Belk just slipped one over on their customers. Wonder what the kick back was. I have not used the MASTER CARD at Belk or any other place. Therefore, I can't get credit for belk coupons or discounts, am missing the rewards. Didn't even get Sr. Discount on line today. I know I could use the card. But Belk slipped it in on me. Then has been so rude in dealing with me, or not dealing with me . Just had to let customers know how disappointed an OLD CUSTOMER is in what I thought was a descent caring company . I spend thousands of dollars a year, heck sometimes a month, in their store. Belk is a clothing department store. This is a smaller Belk store then I am used to. It was clean and had friendly staff but the lack of options on the shelves was a turn off. We needed back to school clothes for my son and he is at that age where he doesn't fit into kids clothes and he doesn't fit into men's clothes. I know everyone was out shopping this weekend but they had full shelves and still had nothing to buy. With other larger Belks in my area ill go to them first. read more

This store has usually been very neat and clean, which is one of the reasons I have shopped there. But the last time I was there, it was so disorganized in all the ladies clothing areas that I finally left in frustration. The clothes on the sale racks were not in any order by size and the hangers with size on them had a different size clothing item on that hanger. It was usually hung on the rack based on the size listed on the hanger. I realize it can be hard to rehang clothes once they have been tried on, but I have never seen it this bad. I gave them 3 stars because I have enjoyed shopping there for years. They used to be my 5 star store. I may try again but will not stay long if the situation hasn't improved. read more
