In these new times, Walmart is one of the few grocery stores that do online ordering and curbside pickup, and it is much appreciated. It's not always easy to get a good pick-up time, but when I've been to do a pick up, there are never more than three cars (including mine) even though there are 10+ spaces available. If you can't get a pick up time BEFORE NOON, best to wait until another day unless there are things you cannot do without. Even with allowing substitutions, items that were in stock that morning have an ever increasing chance of being out of stock by the time they pull your order. Also know that there are items that are definitely in stock in the store that they will not offer/allow for pick up at all, which kind of defeats the purpose of wanting pick up. (Like standard grocery items that don't even show as out of stock, they've just apparently pulled them from the option pool for pick up at all.) The four-stars are solely for the staff who work the grocery pick up. They're usually very young, and always friendly and helpful. I'm impressed with how they've adapted. Otherwise, Walmart in general is a solid three-star. **Even in better times** they seem to be out of random things, and it can be frustrating. You can go in for the most off-the-wall thing, and they are somehow always out of the primary reason for your shopping trip that day. read more

Dang I hate walmart for so many reasons -1. They half the time don't have the items they say they have 2. Noone works at the jewelry center . Pushing the button does not bring an associate. My husband was going to buy me a ring on sale but noone responded. 3. Most of the cashiers hate their job HATE and they show it. The cashier we had today seemed to act like it actually pained her to check us out. Realize I used to b a cashier myself many years ago but I didn't act like it pained me. I actually enjoyed my job. It's a job after all. They don't keep items stocked. Usually they only keep the bare minimum of cashiers. Walmart has fell in customer service and quality over the years. Well since the family sold out. The clothes are ugly and they only want to mainly cater to the younger peeps. What can I say walmart is cheaper but its never been a pleasant place for a long time. Mostly because of the poor customer service . The Alabaster Walmart is one of many walmarts but they all suffer from the same faults. Most of this is because they are not treated well as employees . It's a greedy company that has used many different ways to save money such as using smaller bags, not using as many cashiers as before, making people use self checkout(hello we deserve as discount as we are technically are doing a cashier's job) This saves them paying for cashiers and also insurance. They are carrying less and less products. Sometimes the door greeters try to hound you. Walk on by they cant do nothing legally . Keeping it real walmart blows but it's cheaper than most stores . We came here once pre-covid, and the store was your typical Walmart. We found what we needed easily enough. We've also stopped here a few times recently to get groceries for my grandmother since she doesn't need to be getting our during Covid. The online system is easy to use, and they have a huge area to the left of the store where they have the online pickup ready. The employees came out and brought us the groceries quickly and were very friendly. I'm thankful that they offer this service as it helps us keep my grandmother safe, and I'm sure others use it for their loved ones who are at risk as well. read more

The Alabaster Walmart is great. Good location and easy access from I-65. The staff are friendly and never fail to help me find what I need. It's Wal-Mart so we all know the standard is reasonably clean, competitive prices, well stocked store. This store always meets the standard and then some. I've done the grocery pickup a down times and my order is always right with 1-2 substitutions... They are open early and late. They have the MurphyUSA gas station in the parking lot, and it has a small store that you can go inside to get coffee and snacks. I love this location - and although I may visit 10 other locations. If you use their grocery pickup make sure you have a backup plan for dinner! Placed an order and they have no record of it and the associates working didn't have a clue. Thankfully my family isn't strapped for cash but what "if" all I had I ordered food with to arrive and you tell me it's not there and I have to wait until a manger comes tomorrow to try and fix it... Typical Walmart..hopefully target across the street starts a grocery pickup Walmart never fails to disappoint Day two same thing. All 15 spaces full and a makeshift line of an additional 6 plus cars. I can see why Walmart is still going strong and this location was very nice and close to hotel I stayed at. I was not sure about the place when I first got into store, as some staff were not helpful at all. I asked about Deli sandwiches and the bakery guy said "We must have sold out" and low and behold the sandwiches were in the next case over and when I told the bakery guy this he just laughed it off. Everyone else was very nice and friendly too. I will be staying at local hotel during future trips down and shopping here too. read more

The grocery pickup service is a major life saver and time saver! Let me be the first to say that I am not a fan of shopping a Walmart because of the extremely long lines and the lack of product availability (even though it's a large store). This service is the only reason why I continue to shop here. I love the the ease of being able to shop for grocery items on the app, being able to pay with my card and the best thing ever...have my groceries brought to my car and loaded for me. My pick-up time was from 4-5 p.m. and I was able to check in on the app to let them know that I was headed there. Once I arrived, I let them know which parking space I was in and then my personal shopper (Kayla) brought out my groceries. She was very polite and gave me my bread to put in the front of the car, so that it wouldn't get smashed in the trunk. The only suggestion for improvement would be for them to have more personal shoppers available because the wait time tends to be longer after 4 p.m. when more people are getting off work. read more

I moved to Alabama from Arkansas less than one month ago. This was my third time to step foot in the store in alabaster Alabama and it will be my last! Being someone that's unfamiliar with the territory and the store I was followed by three plain clothes, risk management employees constantly for the entirety of my experience, I asked to speak with a manager upon ending. I spoke with Chinos (spelling may be wrong) and gave a description of each of the three people. One was a young man, wearing a long blue shirt, carrying around electronic item. He was accompanied by an older gentleman with a black T-shirt, thrown over his shoulder, and the third was a purple hoodie gentleman in the produce section that consistently looked in my carts and bags, and acted like I was a common thief, I get you might be in a high-risk area but being a former store manager of harps foods (an Arkansas based chain), you need to dial back your risk management in this location! They make you feel like a thief and instead of offering to help you, they FOLLOW you everywhere! read more

Waited a hour and 10 minutes at pick up. Put the groceries in the wrong car. Said fuck it and left let my wife handle this bullshit.

I mean, it's Walmart. Pretty standard. The store is the usual level of messy, staff usually can't be found if you require assistance (although they never lack for DirecTV or Spectrum associates harassing you to purchase their service). I suppose the best I can say is, they usually have most your everyday items in stock. However, it's a rarity that there's more than 2 registers open, and it's ridiculous to wait in line 20 minutes just to get to a self-checkout. read more

Every time I go here, there is only ONE lane open with a real person who can check you out. This is at almost every Walmart I go to, but all the time at Alabaster. So if you are paying with check, need tobacco, or using an alternative payment method you will have to wait in a long line. Also, I went not long ago and purchased a mini fridge. I had to carry it by myself in the store and to my vehicle. I asked for assistance, but there was no one who could help me. If I need something or have a question about something, I have to track someone down who may or may not be able to help. I tried to use a visa gift card (purchased from Walmart) one time and the cashier did not know how to do it, along with the manager, so I had to pay out of pocket. The buggy's are always dirty and many of them have trash and tissue left in them someone didn't take the time to remove. What ever happened to customer service? Walmart receives BILLIONS of dollars from its consumers (customers) and can't even provide decent customer service. It's disgusting. read more

I'm giving this place a 3 star mainly for the fact that the past few times I've ordered groceries online, they forget to put all my items that I paid for in the bags and I don't find what's missing until I'm home. I tried to call and speak to a manager about it, but I couldn't get anyone to call me back. I decided to call Walmart corporate to let them know and he sounded like he couldn't of cared less and just said that I could cancel my Walmart plus membership... There's other places to get items from besides Walmart and I think the more people start shopping at other establishments, the better. Most of the items come from China and are such low quality. Well it was good while it lasted. After using the grocery app 4 times, I see a crazy charge for $1038 for a high tech gaming laptop. Apparently it was scheduled to be delivered to my home, and was picked up and signed for at a local Fed ex. I have never ordered on Walmart.com yet they got my cc number somehow. New to the area. Although you go through some changes to get to it because it's located in a busy traffic area and in a mall complex. I liked the atmosphere and selections at this WalMart. Why has this location become such a dump? The store is never organized any more. The shelves are very poorly stocked. The staff doesn't cafe if you get waited or not! I visited the Walmart at 630 Colonial Promenade, Alabaster, Al on July 7, 2020 around 6:30 pm to purchase some fabric. I had to get a young man in electronics to page someone to cut it for me. After a few minutes, a lady came to it and she asked if I needed help. I said yes, I need 1 1/4 yards. She told me harshly to move to the other side of where I was standing (I was about to move out of the way anyway). She had a terrible attitude. Her name was Harriet. She threw the fabric cut at me and did not even say anything. She was very rude. I never want to have any dealings with her again. I would appreciate it if someone told her to show some manners to people who need assistance as you do in the fabric department. I was nice, but she acted like she hated cutting the fabric or me. I like going to this Walmart. It is clean and well-stocked. There aren't always a lot of lanes open, so that can certainly slow you down. Also, there aren't enough people working in each department. As usual, the focus is on electronics, so asking for help in another department is difficult. However, it always has what I need and the staff are quite friendly. read more

This Walmart Supercenter is typical of their stores. Good buys, good prices, spacious, lots of merchandise. Usually have most everything you're looking for. This store is not laid out quite as well as some, but not bad either. My only negative on this store is the somewhat lacking professionalism of the staff. Checkouts are slow. Generally this is a typical Walmart Supercenter, including the staff. read more
